that is awesome, 5 big pieces and some tailgate hardware? that is like legos BUT how much Usd $ shipped to your door? Probly too much to canada, I JUST need passenger side replaced at this point,
That’s a Great looking truck box and it’s fairly easy to build. This is going to be a Beautiful truck. I live vicariously through your projects. Thanks!
Wow thats a nice kit! impressed that the bedside and inner comes together like that, that saves a lot of welding, just curious is all the metal and stamping Chinese? I remember back in the day the Chinese stuff didn’t fit good at all. As a body man myself for 40 years I would paint and undercoat the complete underside of the bed and the backside of bedsides. One of my bucket list projects is to completely restore 78/79 ford truck and drop a coyote V8 with a automatic transmission in it with all the modern electronics on a 6 inch lift.
Hi Guys. Awesome video. Hopefullt AMD do a 76 long bed. And is affordable to send a bed to Australia. Saves a lot of hard work on old bed Keep up the good work. Cheers Val
I would be assembling 78-79 Broncos on super duty frames in my shop in the same way if someone would reproduce the panels. Currently have seven of them in the works.
Many manufactures are beginning to advise against weld through primer in repair procedures now. It does affect the weld quality and in all honesty the area around the weld itself burns the paint off anyway. Something like cavity wax is your best bet after welding
Heres the best method ive found to use weld through primer. Doesn't matter if its zinc or copper... store the can on its side so nothing settles on the bottom of the can. Start shaking it upside down. As you shake it, slowly rotate the can until its upright. Once its ready to spray, make sure all the surfaces are clean. Now, throw the can in the trash. Weld it up and use seam sealer.
You should put in the good word for me and many others… They need to sell short bed (73-79) bedsides outer panel alone. All they have rn is the bedside assembly. I see this as a major problem, I’ve tried reaching out to them but they don’t seem to care, it’s also kinda dumb because they sell the short bed inner alone… but no outer skin alone.
@@FordEra on what planet lol? A entire short bed from AMD is 3 grand, when you find original beds that aren’t rusted, they are typically 500-1000. At least where’s I’m from in Washington state.
brother, you and i are about to be rich men. heres the deal email me at SL@fordera.com with every single $500-1000 rust free bed and ill buy it and give you $500 on top then ill go sell them for the value whcih is $3000/7500 depending where in you live. Yes i have sold beds for $7500 before and not just once. Now have you in the past found a 500 bed yes, have i yes. does that mean its not worth it. no it just means we got lucky and got a deal. Seriously ill buy any bed you find for that price@@fatdan172501

Thanks! We have a lot in development for the classic Ford Trucks! Hopefully Long Beds will be next
@autometaldirect any update on the long bed?
19:03 who makes "rust mark" spray? I've googled it and came up with nada.
It’s called Rust Mort and made by SEM
Love this, definitely gave me the confidence to finally start body work.
Great video 👏🏻 Kody is the man!
No doubt!
I like easy really debating on replacing mine now.
Do it you will be happy

Great video, next one should be how to build a bump bed, or at least how to take one apart to replace bedsides- I haven't found one yet...
Coming soon!

Thanks

Looks great, are 8' box kits available?
Man this is awesome, can these panels be shipped to South africa?
I’m sure they can if your covering shipping

I’m sure sooner than later
Looks great 👍🏼
Thanks 👍
Have you done a Ford F100 step side bed?
Looks great! How did you guys like the quality of material compared to OEM?
Well this truck won't rust out again😊👍
Fingers crossed 🤞
Great video thanks for sharing
I've been wanting to do this with my old 77. Is it pretty expensive to buy the whole bed kit?
Great Video!!! I’m looking to do the same to my 79 F150 Styleside Pickup. What would the cost be for what you assembled?
How could you secure factory mouldings?
How much does this cost? Looks like very good quality.
Is that a full or short size bed
No weld through primer between the panels? I'd worry about that over time
Seem sealer? Just like factory.
Seam sealer doesn't stop the rust from forming where the panels were ground ahead of time.
Many manufactures are beginning to advise against weld through primer in repair procedures now. It does affect the weld quality and in all honesty the area around the weld itself burns the paint off anyway.
Something like cavity wax is your best bet after welding

I’ll mention it
Ill pass it along. Hopefully we can offer the outers alone
Much easier than trying to fix a half rotted bed.
Absolutely and quicker
Absolutely! We have a lot in development for the classic Ford Trucks! #fordtruckrestoration #autometaldirect
Did you guys install the inner fender wells or decide to leave them out?
it already came assembled
Badass!
AMD what they get for a kit?
why not paint the the weld spots?
👍👍👍👍👍👍excelente

Are able to build a '06 Ford Ranger bed??
What state are you located? How much to build one?
Nice
We need to talk my cousin kody into starting a youtube haha he makes some cool ass shit
A bed for Reeceses Pieces!!!
Im looking for exactly the same but for Datsun 620, who manufactures this??🤷♂️
Searching for a 78 f-250 manual cab.
Just checked the site, out of stock on the bed sides currently... Dang it
Sucks that they are so expensive
How are they so expensive? It’s literally cheaper then original beds sell for?

Dude MiG welded some without a hood . Ouch eyes
Auto metal direct is out of stock….. that sucks!
Just goes to show how good these beds are, I’m sure it will be in stock soon
If your making bank make a H frame to lift it plus your going to make bank when you sell it
That’s true
@@FordEra your not in to this for your good looks😄
Is AMD working on a stepside bed ?
I believe they already have it
not currently working on our own stepside bed
