- ✨ G'day guys, welcome back to wombat gaming. going to be doing something a little bit different today. I’m going to be doing a playthrough of the lair of the mantis as a re run as I have completed it already, we are going to see what new rewards we can get.
A lot of people have not done this quest, this is a spoiler alert for those who haven't. Hope you enjoy this video!

I wish we could use the Lair as a house/storage place once we complete the mission since we are the Mantis now.
it kind of makes sense as its location is no longer a secret so spacers will be there all the time.

@Ahglock but as with most quests there's different ways in.
Like with the Red Devils HQ you can go in the other way once you find it.
You can have it so when you land the ship the Platform descends then you're inside guarded by the security features.
A mod could do that or make it so you can make a new mantis lair that spacers don't know about

A big "buff" that everyone misses is that if you are encumbered and you activate Personal Atmosphere, you can run without losing oxygen. What I do is run without personal atmosphere until I am out of breath (i.e. the red bar is full), then activate personal atmosphere (as it refills the oxygen bar) and then start running again.
That only works if you're not super encumber like with 10k+ mass, the moment you use it and start sprinting it drains instantly.
i guess my game is bugged or something cause im still able to do that.

I feel ya. It seems like a coordinated effort at this point. I'm staring to wonder how much Sony pays for reviews. The recent bias has at least exposed the complete lack of credibility with review sites.
@WombatGaming all we need is honesty. You're doing fine. We know starfield has bugs. I mean none like complete system shut downs or disks refusing to install like another recent game with a 91 metacritic review.

Right after completing this for the first time, I went to another planet to get an artifact. A cool ecliptic ship landed so I relieved them of the burdens of ship ownership. And life.

In my opinion, Lair of the Mantis is the coolest quest in the game. Other things are about the secrets of the universe, but the story of the Mantis is a cool one to see. And of course the earlier you get the armor and ship the better for your playthrough.
It's a real shame that you cannot have the Mantis Lair as a base. I went back a few weeks ago and found the Razorleaf sitting there on its podium and was then disappointed after seeing it rise up to the surface, but not there when you get back up top.

Does the armor respawn? I could use a better role

@@WombatGaming I use the Razorleaf as my main ship, although it looks nothing like the original. My Mantis armour had dreadful stats on it and I didn't learn about saving and reloading to get better stats until I was much further into the game. To be honest, there are much better armour sets to be found that eclipse the Mantis set, like the Superior Bounty Hunter Set.
@@WombatGaming I wonder if it is because you have them in your inventory. I wonder if they respawn if you sell them. Both the armor and the ship I mean.
I recommend playing the full story again. It's not the same as the 1st playthrough and it changes the context of the story. Bethesda hid the 2nd half of the story behind a replay label.
The bounty hunter armor has a Master Chief feel. I wonder if it was designed as a nod to Halo
I've like the look of it the most, just wish it dropped more. Need the legendary set lol
I love the look of the suit, but not so much the helmet. I tend to use it with the Explorer helmet.

It's a nod to Boba Fett. The colors are the same colors as his armor, and he's a bounty hunter in Star Wars. It's my favorite armor because of that, lol.
At the door before the turrets, there is actually a pirate guy that doesn't shoot. He has dialog about the secrets of the Laser Puzzle. First couple of times I accidently shot him shooting the other pirates.

I wish those weapons in those boxes adjusted to your rank, but a lot of them don't, so you end up with Refined or even Calibrated Legendaries instead of Advanced
Not to mention that there is apparently a bug where "superior" weapons are shown as "advanced" in the game, thus leaving you to wonder if the "advanced" weapon is the advanced or superior version.
Apparently I am wrong, and I'm going to own up to it. There is apparently 5 levels of quality for armors, but only 4 levels for weapons. I still wonder why such a decision is made, unless they might want an extra quality tier for weapons introduced in a future DLC.
Yes hate getting gear that's not ranking and lower than some things I got 39 lvls ago.
@@TigonIIII actually think you’re right. I saw a video from ESO where he showed two versions of an advanced gun but one had higher base damage - being the Superior weapon with an advanced label.
@@TigonIII No you are correct there is Advanced and Advanced (Superior). You can test this out if you have 2 weapons of the same type, both Advanced and if one has higher stats you have found an Advanced (Superior) weapon.
I was heaps bummed for you today mate. After watching your vid I did the mantis again and got a legendary shattering advanced shotty with extended MAG med theft and shattering as the perks 237 base damage unmodified

I went back after main story quest and found it as abandoned as ever. I guess I need to take a nap on Venus and come back, maybe I can have a nice fat upgrade. Also, Apparently, First

Yes its there at the bottom but doesn't spawn up top

I'm pretty sure vulture's roost would be an even better place to try farming loot.
it prob is but to keep things from getting too repetitive its good to farm various places.
The Roost definitely does respawn, and its a huge loot haul every time. Only things that will not respawn are the Unique 1 of a kind in the game, like the motorcycle some of the mugs etc.
I just did it at level 76 on very hard and it was underwhelming in terms of legendary loot but I did get a lot of contraband. Not sure if it was increased vs being lower level.
Wait vultures roost respawns? I hit it th4 first time at level 23 or so and went back at 40 and 50 and nothing
@@TheOnefalcon07Yep, it respawns. Go to Venus and sleep. I do about 1200 hours UT (I think). I’ve done it 3x now.

Mark 1 armor at the lodge. There is a seam in the glass where the door closes.
Not with my vid card and pc setup. That glass box is shut tight. (Not that mine is anything amazing, run of the mill decent two years ago when I bought it.)
There is a tracker alliance space suit in the lair as well
boi that A-99 go bwaaaaat bwaaaaat love the slow motion mid air aim with slow time powers has saved my arse several times Im talking 1 tap Im gone and survived an unslaught of enemies
Put a Reflex Sight on your Big Bang. I noticed that the iron sights on that weapon are "misleading" and I miss midrange shots. With the Reflex Sight the Big Bang becomes a close - to midrange shotgun. The range is crazy with that shotgun.
Oh and be careful when you plan to take non-essential companions while using the Big Bang (/w Annihilator Rounds): this disease like, damage over time (DoT-) effect spreads to your companions and does a lot of damage. Sarah, Sam, Andreja & Barrett don't mind this friendly fire/damage but ALL of your other (non essential-)companions will leave you or become hostile towards you when they receive too much damage from that effect, which happens all the time because the damage is really huge.

Stats wise, you cannot beat the Bounty Hunter armor stats, especially at Tier 5 (Superior). Unless you new game +

I just ran it again with a hornet nest coachman XD, very scary cqb. The loot wasn't great though but it's nice coming back.

how did you configure the inventory mgmt panel? that's a lot more efficient than displaying the item model
PC mod, I wish they would have done this for Vanilla
First play through, met constellation got boost pack and have still to start main quest or talk to Sarah yet (I'm lvl 87) and went to Akila and did deputize with Emma Wilson and also never finished that quest either (so I have Vasco, Emma still). Favourite gun at moment is the epic corrosive coachman mod to honet's nest wipes most out but those swarmming hoppers on high level planets (and you Big Bang version looks good). No hurry for powers and see what happens.

I meant to go back and pick the locks I missed the first time but I’m already NG+2 now so I’ll have to go again. I completely forgot ab the mantis part, I did the whole Freestar quest line today so I could get a better ship .
At level 46, I still use my legendary Beowulf, almost exclusively. I've got "better" weapons, but unless I'm facing epic terrormorphs, or something, it always does the job, and ammo is plentiful.
I used that gun for so long, it's still my number 3
Great video. At the start of the vid when you show armour stats etc, how are you getting the stats to display like that showing all info on the left hand side?

Love the Big Bang all modded up. For long range I got the legendary Revenant which is a one-shot at up to 143 range.

Can you go directly to Denbola 1-b or do you need the "Secret outpost" datapad first?
I think you need the secret outpost quest. Any spacer should drop this for you.
I have discovered that pretty much every place resets after a time! They reset with level appropriate mobs and loot! Nova Galatic Shipyards orbiting Luna was the first one I discovered that reset after time!
I was surprised to see the ship there even thou it did not end up hitting the surface.
@WombatGaming yeah the 1st time I went back and found it had reset and I saw the ship inside on the pad I got all excited only to have the ultimate disappointment of no armor or ship! 😭
@WombatGaming now do you know how to farm for legendary weapons and other stuff? That's were you find the Captain of the group and just before you do the final killing shot do a quicksave and if you don't like what that Captain "drops" for loot reload the quicksave and see what you get! Rinse and repeat until you get a drop you want!
That's great for leveling.
One question.
Did you have the Razoleaf in your fleet when you redid the Mantis Lair?
I am thinking, if you dont have, bc you have sold it, maybe you can get another one?
I had sold it so I was thinking I might get a new one but I didn't. I went back to the vendor I sold it to and bought it back lol

Wow learned something new didnt know 6hr sleep did that I was wondering why certain quest I completed the previous day poppped up again I was so stoned out of my Gourd that I questioned myself I was never aware my first thoughts was correct.

Watching this video peaked my curiosity in the hard target. I currently play the game at very hard and use a legendary beowulf at 125 damage. I'm only at level 15 and easily killing everything with my beowulf. I can't imagine what it would be like to have a weapon like the hard target at this point.
Yes I was using your gun and still carry a good one as back up the Hard Target has a bit more punch

When I did the Mantis mission I found a trackers alliance suit in the bathroom you almost entered just before the mannequin that holds the mantis suit. I liked the looks of it and it had better protection than anything I'd found in the game up to that point.
Yea I think the superior trackers alliance suit is the best in the game protection wise.
Thanks for the re-run of the lair. I honestly didn't know that the chests respawn after 6 hours of sleeping.
What mods were you using for the better inventory management? I hate having to cycle through just to see weight/value/dmg/etc.

Ib think it's just I'm not picking up the weapons so they just stack. If you entered and left right away and slept on Venus the weapons might stack multiple times. Haven't tested this thou

Depends on what you're looking for. If it's just level then the boundary hunter is my go to

I'm just asking if the stats on the Mantis armor are better if you get it at a much higher level.
Maybe the stats are equivalent to Calibrated if you get it around level 15.
Maybe the stats are equivalent to Superior if you get it around level 80.

The “Turret Area” had all the letters on the ground and it seemed like it would be a puzzle to solve but then it was nothing. That was a missed opportunity I thought. Could have been like those puzzle levels in Skyrim. Oh well
In the main mission, it is a puzzle to solve.
@@WombatGaming I just shot the turrets and walked through the 'puzzle'.
One can do the mantis mission getting the ship and spacesuit at lvl 10. Just keep your distance and have mines, grenades with you

Is the bounty hunter arnor always going to be basic or is there a chance it can be rare, epic, or legendary when resetting the mission?
That first set is normal all the time, I think.
Ive got a superior set but ive been looking all over for some superior UC armor. They're the best looking in my opinion

The display for items is a mod for pc, should come to xbox when they start to allow mods

didnt see anyone mention this, but watching this vid i noticed the ones that seemed to be stacking weapons.. were mainly troublemakers and some vultures
I want to know how peoples stuff is stacking in general. my stuff doesnt stack at all.
Maybe I should know these: (asking anyone willing to answer)
a. How do you get that inventory view that's more like a table? Is that a mod?
b. Does any of the gear spawn at Advanced or Superior? As I understand it, the goal is to get Superior or Advanced equipment that is Legendary. A [basic] Legendary item could have three bonus traits, but still have lower stat values. I'm still watching so maybe that becomes clear in the last half.

Yes, that's the mod I'm using. Loot drops are so random I think the goal is like you said advanced or superior as legendary

Well, I tried this twice and both times when I go outside there's no mantis ship. Good job there's a fair bit of loot.
The ship will only be on the surface the first time you run it.
A little over 210 hours in, I finally found an advanced Hard Target weapon that wasn't basic. Has extended mag. I'd love one with instigating on it but won't hold my breath.
Still looking for a Legendary :-( love the one I have thou head shot one kills on very hard love it
You can mod them to hold 10 in the mag anyway , but if you want a higher damage on them then you can't have the 10 in the chamber , it's one or the other , if you have a hard target now then do the weapon chest glitch on level 75 planet and you'll end up with a legendary hard target if you do it enough times .
@@WombatGaming weapon chest glitch on level 75 planet if you already have a hard target in your inventory, do it enough times and you'll get a legendary one. Seems to produce weapons of the same level as you're carrying a lot of the time

I have two sets of superior bounty hunters armor just the armor not the helmet or backback. I find them randomly on planets that i explore i play on very hard and on the high end plants

Can you rerun mantis quest in NG+? I was disapointed with the razorleaf and sold it immediately before i knew its superpowers
I'm not sure, to be honest. You can buy the ship back from the port you sold it, I think.

@@WombatGaming I just did it and it was reset but the items were not a higher level. I am lvl 50 so the items were around there. The suit was WAY lower than the Starborn one.
You should have went back on the ship. I find weapons and some times space suit items on board even though its technically your ship.

The space suit not resetting is the most disappointing because I stuck it on a ship mannequin, and it disappeared.
Yes it lost the helmet and can't get it back
Have you checked your ship’s cargo? Anything on armour or weapon stands moves into the cargo if you edit your ship. It’s annoying because you have to put everything back again, but I’ve never heard of it disappearing completely.
Did you equip the armor pieces after storing them on the mannequin?
@@LoadieRoadie Originally I didn't equip it because I thought it was a bug and thought exited and reentering the ship or quitting and restarting would fix it. You didn't need to manually equip in Skyrim. But after editing the ship, I went back to the mannequin, and it was missing. Wasn't in the cargo either.
@@mauler16 Yeah, I noticed that, too. So annoying. But the suit is nowhere. Checked Sarah, too.
Has this been patched already? Denebola doesn't show up on the starmap. I went to Venus, landed, slept for six hours still no Denebola showing on the map.
No new patch should be the same.

@@WombatGaming for sure, the gui it comes with is so bad , so little information on each screen its a pain in the ass. I still don't know why they can't put the solar system names on the map screen instead of just 4 or 5 so im constantly wasting time having too try search for systems ive visited dozens of times over , LOVe the game but hate so much of how they have setup making your way around the user experience,

I lost my Mantis suit after modifying my starship. I was hoping I could recover it by going back. Oh well.

Maybe the weapons are stacking like that because in the update they might make it where you can loot all bodies from one body like in Fallout 76, (i hope they add that 😅)

Nice, have to try revisiting the Mantis lair. The Novogalactic Staryard (orbiting The Moon) from early in the main quest isn't too bad, either. Not all the NPCs respawn, but the boss chest does.

Either way - I'm still enjoying the game mechanics.
watching the video you can see whats broken in the game. Your weapon is supposed to be a shotgun, but you still dont have to get close to your targets... meaning there is no reason to use a sniper rifle ingame...
I think I'm using a mod on it that concentrates the fire. I'm going to have to have a closer look, not as deadly as close up, but still not back at range.

I use the mugshot advanced sniper rifle with about 1,100 damage. Absolute beast
It is and it isn't. While, on paper, it does 1100 damage, the reality is literally everything at higher levels has very high ballistic resistance. The end result is that it almost always winds up doing a lot less damage than a particle weapon like the Va'Ruun Inflictor or Big Bang. It's deceptive. The more powerful the enemy, the worse this disparity is. Terrormorphs, for example, you'll find the Magsniper does very little to and its low fire rate and ammo capacity become a major hindrance.
@@WardenWolf idk, I haven’t used my magshot on one yet but I did use my shotgun that was at 500 ish on my first play through and that seemed to take it down pretty easily… although I did do my first play through on easy so that definitely had a hand in it lol

I wasn't aware you could reset the game by sleeping 6 hours on venus. I'm not sure I'd want to rerun low level content again, when there is so much stuff I still haven't seen at higher level. It's an interesting question, whether you can use the save feature to try to get the armor and weapons you want, but, truth be told, I thought the Mantis armor was with ugliest stuff in the game. Now if I could do that with the UC Xeno armor, I'd seriously consider it.
