      @WL-FACTS that japan back then, was doing quite low quality stuff. Now Japan is an industrial power house. What they make they are always on the top of their game in terms of technology and reliability. If they concentrate on making weapons they will make the best weapons out there. What happens is that Japan has banned arms exports so the industry does not benefit from the mass markets and it becomes to expensive to develop weapons only for domestic use.

    • @redcloud2593
      @redcloud2593 2 года назад +25

      @WL-FACTS indeed. But keep in mind, samurai warfare is embedded into their dna. Maybe japan is no longer an empire, but these guys were bred to fight only a few generations back.

Japanese fleet needs to return as a power. No more with semantics about “helicopter destroyers”. Build full blown aircraft carriers. Do what the Israelis do, buy some American military tech. Take it apart and use your own technology to improve on it. Japan did it for the Burke-class. Japan could greatly help Ukraine to defend itself by preparing to take back the Kurile Islands that Stalin stole from them at the end of WWII. Then Russia would be forced to divert forces to defend the Kuriles, forces which would not then be used to murder Ukrainians.
    UPDATE: 9 comments, not one with strategic understanding. I did NOT say that Japan should forcibly retake the Kuriles. That would be stupid. I said they should build up forces to relieve pressure on Ukraine. Similarly, Poland can do the same by building up forces close to Belarus, which is currently sapping Ukraine's defense of Donbas by requiring Ukraine to maintain significant forces to guard against a Belarusian attack. Again, Poland would NOT actually attack Belarus. The point is to take pressure off Ukraine, which is fighting for its life.

      @@justgame2924 majority of active Russian ground forces are in and around Ukraine these days. Their Pacific fleet is a pale comparison to the heydays of the Cold War. Japan’s defense forces are better equipped and trained (not battle-hardened) than the Ukrainian military. So Japan could take the Kurile Islands and definitely defend those specs of rock. Russia would have to expend ballistic & cruise missiles to strike at Japanese positions. But that would delete whatever stockpiles Russia has and decrease amount used against Ukrainians forces. You can note that those types of attacks have been decreasing to regularity from the Russians. As they revert to WWII-style Soviet tactics… massive indirect tube & rocket artillery.

      The United States dropped two atomic bombs on Japan at the end of World War II, one of them, an untested cannon-type uranium bomb, the so-called "Baby", was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945; another explosive bomb, tested at Alamogordo a month earlier and named "Fat Man", was dropped on Nagasaki on 9 August. About 220,000 Japanese citizens died directly from these two bombs, and more than 200,000 more died due to lethal doses of radiation.

      @@thecountofmontecristo8280 At that point, there's zero purpose in even showing it off at all. The only likely scenario Japan would use said equipment is either in support of international counter-terror operations or in defense of it's own soil. And I don't really think it needs explanation as to who in Asia would even remotely pose any kind of threat to Japan which has strong US backing.
      It still doesn't inspire confidence to see vietnam-era equipment shown off as if it's impressive when used in 2021. It didn't inspire my confidence in Russia's invasion of Ukraine and it doesn't inspire my confidence here.
