I know what you mean. Such a natural sound, like a heartbeat, as if it was always out there in the air just waiting for a band to play it.

This song was popular in 1978. I was 16 and I discovered love for the first time. The fact that this song coincided with that moment in my life was extra special.

This is one song I looked forward to listing to on the radio. I know it was in the late 70's. This is the only song I can remember from them. I think they were bigger in the country side of music. I could be wrong.

Haven’t heard this song in AGES! It actually sent chills down my spine again as the funk guitar dropped in, and the look on your face matched what I was feeling from memories flooding back! Thank you for this reaction and also to whoever suggested it! THIS is definitely going to get dug up and put on my playlist.

FYI, Exile is still performing. They began in 65, so I think that puts them up there with the longest continually working band. Although members changed over the years, most of the members who started the band are still there. They moved from being a hard rock band initially to a country band, which is what they are still. They wrote several hit songs for Alabama. They hit it big with Kiss You All Over in the summer of 78. Appeared on Midnight Special. You need Dee to react to this.

I remember the most "till the night closes in" more than anything, to the extent that I did not recognize the title as the title, but as a lyric. Lots of airplay at the time, and easy to listen to.

This band originated in Richmond, Kentucky and later played a number of venues in Lexington when I was in college in the late 60’s and early 70’s before they headed to Nashville. JP Pennington is the lead vocalist, they were really great to see in a small club setting. Really surprised they never got more play after a couple of hits.

the late jimmy stokley was the energy and showman of the band, as you can enjoy in this live performance from 1978:

I really am saddened by the reality that Roller rinks are far and few between these days. I don't understand why, really. I mean, I understand the economics of it; people stop coming, business shuts down. It's the 'why did' people stop going?
