Thanks a lot for highlighting the power of being different (vs being better)! As a high school physics teacher, I struggled with this for years on RUclips. What finally worked was being different. In the hindsight, it almost seems obvious. But it’s not. It took me quite a while to stumble upon this. And I am so glad that this video explains this idea so nicely. It’s incredibly powerful and if you are an aspiring youtuber, I hope you take notes and keep coming back to this video! (I took a lot of notes as well) Incredible stuff, Aprilynne! This is pure gold.

Killing it with every. single. video ❤ One of the things I can’t find good info anywhere is advice for B2B channels that do not want to do clickbaity, or entertaining content (and not even edutainment to a point). All the advice seems to be directed at youtubers who want to do entertainment content, but some of us don’t want to do that.
After watching your other killer thumbnail/intro videos, I applied it myself and my next video was a 1/10 by almost double!! It wouldn't have gotten a fraction of that without your videos, I really appreciate how you break everything down to be so understandable

I've been pushing this idea of "ideas" with people in my masterminds as well. We use the word "concept" instead but same principle. The videos that have grown our channels the most may have some topic/format link, but simply overdoing topics or formats hasn't proven useful. Concept seems to have been the biggest common denominator between the 10-20 videos that drive 70%+ of ALL views to my channel compared to the other 90% of my videos that never really add to baseline.
Yes there's truly so much that goes into it!! Before doing the research for this video, I had no idea (pardon the pun) just how much went into a single RUclips idea
@@AprilynneAlter It's crazy how eerily similar some of your process in this video is to the internal discussions I've had with colleagues of mine. Topic, angle and format are some of the biggest factors, and at least I can be ruthless with video ideas. If I can't get a thumbnail for a concept, it goes straight in the trash or gets recycled as a segment for a compilation of some sort.

Or at the very least, try some videos that take less than 5 months to make haha. There's also the concept of setting up a second channel for lower-key, more casual content. A lot to think about!

Ion think you understand how much I appreciate the kind of video examples that you show such as the women based cozy content creators 😭 I never see them in videos with RUclips growth ♥️🫶🏾 and as a creator in that niche it’s much appreciated only a few minutes in and I 100% agree. The idea is what’s most important regardless of social media platform but how it’s executed def helps even more!!
Ahhh yes absolutely!! I really try my best to represent lots of different types & styles of content, from different kinds of creators. So many RUclips strategy videos only highlight a very select group of creators, and I always want to shine a light on how many different types of videos you could make!
Another banger and treasure trove of info. Only a third of the way through but I can already see this one is so dense it'll require more than one view. Your excellence as a dedicated researcher and increasingly talented editor are obvious and admirable. But I have a feeling that over time you'll learn to put more trust in your own likability as a teacher in order to win out, rather than chasing the dragon of every video having to outperform the previous one. Ion think you understand how much I appreciate the kind of video examples that you show such as the women based cozy content creators 😭 I never see them in videos with RUclips growth ♥️🫶🏾 and as a creator in that niche it’s much appreciated only a few minutes in and I 100% agree. The idea is what’s most important regardless of social media platform but how it’s executed def helps even more!!
Ahhh yes absolutely!! I really try my best to represent lots of different types & styles of content, from different kinds of creators. So many RUclips strategy videos only highlight a very select group of creators, and I always want to shine a light on how many different types of videos you could make!
Another banger and treasure trove of info. Only a third of the way through but I can already see this one is so dense it'll require more than one view. Your excellence as a dedicated researcher and increasingly talented editor are obvious and admirable. But I have a feeling that over time you'll learn to put more trust in your own likability as a teacher in order to win out, rather than chasing the dragon of every video having to outperform the previous one. Aprilynne, have as much fun as you can with your creativiity and natural talents. You're good enough just as you are :)
