I knew you were a secret drone/noise artist.
Who knew i had it in me
You probably know about Lyra8 and that with reverb and some careful tweaking you can make something akin to sweet ambient stuff. So through this mixer one could make this chain sound like Lyra again. But then we put another reverb after the mixer...
This is one of the coolest pieces of gear I've seen in a long time
I just want a very simple but good quality 6 channel stereo, DJ style mixer without a hefty pricetag please...
Im loving the distortion! Very musical. "Oh no Stimpy! Its .. SPACE MADNESS!!"
Amazing. Love it how fast it goes from clean to messy. Great video!
Awesome mixer. I wish I could get one! Thanks for making a video about this unique product.
Just saw your Dust Collector video yesterday and now this is amazing too!
The N.I.M.B experience is everything!
Finegear is just great
I've been drooling over this sine superbooth last year.!!!
That first jam was amazing !
It’s really nice to have a voltage controlled mixer but it’s also a lot of dough for a supersized Eurorack module 😂
this + a Lyra 8 would be a droners dream.
Throw in a Solaris 42 if you’re feeling “saucy” (it’s a Wayne’s World reference 😉)
oufff that would just take it to god tier levels.@@sawtooth808
Oh wow, this is amazing!
Woah.. very nice!
A thing of beauty, thanks.
The problem with DJ mixers is that they're ridiculously overpriced compared to other mixer types in the market like PA, studio and broadcast mixers. For the the price of a Pioneer or Alien & Heath 4-channel DJ mixer you can easily score a 32-channel PA/recording mixing console from Mackie or Yamaha (just to name a few established pro audio brands), which is insane when you think of it.
This makes me very sceptical of "performance mixers" like this Modmix, even if it is a boutique brand (which is no guarantee for quality btw). The value is simply not there. You're better off getting a solid PA mixer and save yourself a shit ton of money that you can then spend on FX modules or pedals.
This is awesome, though I do sincerely wish that they'd used a USB-C port. What were they thinking?!
Looks lovely i will buy one!
Lots of lovely crunchy bits. I'm not getting one, but I love me some distortion. It's soothing.
Why do "normal" mixers lack CV control? This however seems to be a mixer more in the tradition of the Boss KM line, adding its very own character to your signal.
Wow that pretty and it sounds gorgeous
oooh yeah it's rock! imagine to manipulate audio via this, a few strymon pedals and the SSL bigsix for final glue / eq :)
that unit is a unit
Wondering how much of this you can do with partially repatching a simpler mixer
Looks wise it reminds me of the old tl audio stuff. Just got a tube tracker & an lfo or 2 for it would be handy.
Interesting bit of kit this.
This has future classic written all over it.
I guess i can not afford it now and later im going to regret it for ever after like the Dreadbox Murmux
I went from dub to noise then modular. I'd pay the price.
Looks incredible and like a lot of fun but In 2024 there is no excuse for anything but USB-C. Would I need the USB? I don’t know, but I don’t like it.
I knew it was expensive the moment I saw the wooden cheeks. Wooden cheeks in synth world are the equivalent of red louboutin soles in shoe world. Instant visual signifiers of wealth
Drumlogue?
minibrute
Curious about the lack of nuts on the switches and the inputs. I know it would harsh the gestalt but are the switches and inputs just supported by their lugs on the board? That feels like a broken solder joint waiting to happen especially if this is intended to be a performance instrument. I do appreciate independent makers and completely understand it’s hard to be profitable with bespoke instruments. Having said that, for real money, it can’t just look cool and sound interesting if it breaks after the first hard use.
It’s very cool but it’s a shame the channels are mono but I guess it’s meant to be used with devices like Syntrix or Lyra 8
Interesting not my thing but interesting.
Personally I’m trying to get up to speed with my woovebox and two little Behringers at the moment.
Looks fun, but I want an 8 stereo channel DJ mixer
Maybe there is a way to add two cheap ones together
Yeah i’d like a dj mixer like that too! its rare to see one with a lot of inputs
Looks a bit like Sherman filterbank territory, besides being a mixer. Have you used one before and could you roughly compare them? Two very interesting instruments.
I have not used the sherman unfortunately! It did remind me a little about that crazy filterbank i tried years ago at an event… name escapes me… Euterpe Synthesizers?!
Can you patch in outboard hardware like compressors?
yes there is insert point per track
How long before “Bad Gear” gets hold of one...?
So I have a woovebox and an MC101 and some money burning a hole in my bank account :) so I’m down to three possible ‘upgrades’ MC707, MPC one and Maschine Plus any thoughts?
do you need another workstation/groovebox type machine? If you really do I would suggest Maschine+, its quick and fun to make music on
The freq cuts only go to -10db ? very strange.
Cool cool but imagine spending $1700 on a device in 2024 and it comes with a mini-usb port. That's nuts.
USB C or GTFO
Truth!
Hi, Bo!
Hi!
If you want this to sound like a dial up modem from 1994, then purchase this thing!
herbs and stones pathways thanks
Ugh, it sounds so gnarly...wallet sweat forming
😅 stay strong!
@@BoBeats ... and buy two to bolt together?
Thanks for the video, but...the drumbrute is more disturbing than a team mate. :)
Great video and your hair got long again !
🤔
somebody was heavily influenced by SOMA Synths :)
2nd?
How in the world a four tracks mixer costs that much. Are those knobs made of heroin? I don’t understand
i almot spat my coffee all over the modmix reading this comment. Too funny!
The short of it is:
Small manufacturer
Expensive R&D and manufacturing
Not selling thousands of units
And add that nasty inflation and things get expensive! I saw that a Novation Peak is 1800 euro and it wasnt that expensive before
DistroKid 👎
I'd rather make my own with MIDI CC capabilitues. I do like the stereo returns & feedback capabilities
ruclips.net/video/CzcGqwub-_Q/видео.html im goin to add this too the LIST of videos ... um this is what i do , feedback loops
shame there is no phonostage
A mixer in 2024, 1700$ ?.. I like hardware, but this is another typical case, "we're just going to use the one from Cubase" 🎉
If it's usable as a DJ mixer it's on the cheap end of the price range for mixers. Expensive is relative
Because it takes up more desktop space i will not be buying it. Ive been racking everything for years. you only have so much space. If it was 19" i would be watching the rest of the video.
Hey. I'm first. That's rare.
People are on a wild no input mixing ride!
"Fine"gear? Scraping pots? The price? In comparison, SOMA products are built perfectly. I would not buy this with confidence.
I just received the fixed knobs and no scraping. Easy fix.
Or as other channels have shown, you can literally grab an old Behringer mixer from the trash and get essentially the same results 😂
No what you do is put it back in the garbage where it belongs>
and put it back in the trash where it belongs 😂
This is nothing new, you can do all this with any mixer, it's just not as obvious or expensive.
Yes, connect outs to inputs and of you go. But like you say; this is purposefully designed for it. With modulation and much more controls.
