Even as a photographer/videographer it’s always good to go back to the basics and remind ourselves that the foundations of media are the same in most equipment. Well done brother.
Just got my first gopro and I am using it to record diecast racing. This is done with low light on my track for a outer space look. I spent 8 to 10 hours playing with setting as I am new to videos and editing ect. And still could not get gopro video to look good. I watched your video and it fixed all my problems. Thank you for taking the time to make this. I really appreciate it. And now I can use my go pro on my next race video.
Damn finally someone explained my mystery ;)about this you - called "compression artefacts" especially visible when you recording bushes trees etc.Thank you.
Any one know how to up load to you tube in 4K. I don’t think o have seen this option. Does this also mean that you can still record in a lower resolution say 2.7k yet still upload in 4K?
@@mrmagoo600 IF your clip is in 4k resolution you upload it like other else files. First of all YT prepare this movie in small res, like 720p than 1080p and for 1440p and 4k sometimes you need to wait even 24h. It is not insta after upload.
The same problem I have, on my computer screen, looks great, but on youtube the clips where the image is covered by trees looks far worst than open environment clips! It's a shame it can't be fixed!
Do we need to record in 5k then upload on RUclips 4k or we need to record in 4k? I have problem with grainy videos will try out shutter and flat color method
Great VIdeo. It's good to remind ourselves that Light is such a massive component in videos and photos. Its a basic obvious thing, but we so often forget, in the end we are capturing light.
I love the fact that you stay you can't always get the best shot with GoPro. Most people say change this change this and you can make it look good. But you say sometimes you can't get it with the GoPro. I love the honesty Great video
Hi, I am new Go Pro User. I have been a photographer for 40 years and I bought a new Go Pro Hero 11 Black after much deliberation of competitive brands of action cameras. From most of reviews I watched, it seems that it does a fairly good job as an action camera. So far in the 2 months that I have trialed and errored this camera, it is as you say. I have watched dozens of videos on how to set this camera. I find it absolutely useless in any low light conditions, indoors or out. So far even on the brightest days in full sunlight, shooting from tripod, adjusting different settings my video quality is not 100%. I started to believe it was me. It is like the camera is always out of focus. Thanks for confirming what I suspected about its sensor. I have been enjoying your channel and am now a subscriber, thanks for your advice and I will continue to tinker with it, if it is possible to get better, or send it back, great work. Thanks
Ah, that demystifies the artifacts I’m often getting in my video’s when I’m vlogging a forrest environment. It seems like the youtube compression is not very kind on shots with lots of green leafs in it.
Filming frustrates me because it’s not my area of expertise. Videos have been way too dark from the GoPro so I am going to adjust some of the settings you mentioned. Im outside with a tripod so I don’t see why I couldn’t fix this
Thank you for all of your insight. You really do a great job explaining to someone. You are articulate and precise. It's really good to know people like you!
Very good breakdown of the key factors that many other videos did not mention. Very helpful for my upcoming videos using the GoPro. Thanks for making this video!
Thanks my friend i was about to sell my gopro because i was frustrated with grainy videos. ISO and Shutter did the magic. However the lowest ISO in Hero 5 black is 400 but thats manageable. But in indoor lighting conditions the video flickers
Thank you! Very introspective and useful video! Your way of explaining and the precision is clearly the proof of your experience and understanding of how gopros and photography and videography are all about! I have subscribed and enabled notifications! Keep up the good work and keep posting.
Very good Video! And you are totaly right, the GoPro is an awesome Actioncam, but only when there is much light available. In LowLight Conditions it sucks. So i really hope that the GoPro 10 will have a better/bigger sensor installed so that we can have better lowlight recordings. 5K60FPS and 4K120FPS, also in SuperView Mode would be also awesome! GoPro should really focus on improving lowlight for the Hero10!
Thanks for the information. You helped solve my problem of overexposure. I googled but many forums has explained it over-complicatedly. Following your guidance, I can tackle the situation now.
Once you lock exposure, I'm finding I then cannot change the shutter speed. Only once exposure is unlocked do I get the option to change shutter speed again. This is a little frustrating because in super bright conditions I want to lock exposure to a darker area (e.g., a tree or grass), but then you're locked out of shutter speed changes.
Hi, what settings would you recommend for night lapse photo mode for filming stars? I've been using 30 second exposure with Auto intervals but haven't experimented with protune. The footage has been good and i'm wondering if it could be better, thanks.
I have been fighting to figure out a way to get my Hero9 Black to take good in car video. I have the GoPro on my rollbar aimed to record the view in the windshield as well as me and my hand on the steering wheel and shifter. I rarely, occasionally am abnle to get it to record a proper video. But most of the time the glare and sunlight turns everyhthing in the windshield portion of the video to a blinding brightness with little to none of the view visible. It is irritating because you don't know if it worked until after your done and home from a race and can't redo the video. And it dosn't help that GoPro is realistically te only action camera around.
I take it a photo now with my gopro hero 9 the photo is good at resolution but the qualty is so blurry the pixels are not sharp they look exploded blurry pixels why

Much too dark. I hope I get some answers in this video.
I have the hero 9 black and noticed during playback the color warmth gets orangey at certain times when recording in 4K 60 fps using gopro color. Anybody had this problem?
I am youtuber and have started offroading on my ktm now. Just got a gopro hero 9. Before this I was using a gopro hero 5, always shot at 2.7K 30fps which was fine on roads and highways, gives a nice cinematic motion blurr too. However when I started offroading 30fps didn't seem to capture enough details about the stones, potholes, cracks on the ground, leaves, etc. As the latest was 9, I got 1. Started shooting at 2.7k 60fps which works completely (got some new highspeed micro sds too). But the files size is very huge + my good pc with nice configuration struggles to edit. Hi. This is a really great channel (one of the best!). The problem I have always had with my GoPros (7,8, 9, and 10) is shimmering and flickering (Aliasing?). And I've never been able to solve it - I was hoping it would go away with the GoPro 10 - but not! This normally happens with straight or repeated edges (such a tiles on house roofs, fences) but is also common with vegetation and certain ground surfaces (e.g gravel). It tends to be more pronounced on duller days but I've also had it in good sunlight. The issue is there with videos straight from the camera and also after processing. I tend to shoot in 4K/ 25fps and use linear + HL. ISO is set to 100 to 400. WB on Auto. Sharpness on Medium. Shutter at 1/100. Is there anything i'm doing completely wrong? Thanks for any advice you may have. Best wishes. Mark
I’m having some issues with mine. I just got it and trying to figure it out. But when I plug it into the pc. A lot of them aren’t coming up as videos but files instead. And they are so blurry and pixelated. But some of them come up as clear as day. Why am I having this problem?
Im a new go pro user and lately my footage is very laggy and choppy with the shutter speed on auto. what do you suggest to fix it? may my MacBook is out dated as well.

yeah, as for me, this video quality of graininess and artifacts seems to be more apparent in Hero 9 than in Hero 8. I'm pretty close to returning my Hero 9 at this point because of this graininess.

Thanks for this. Great video and explanation. I’m very disappointed in my Hero8. I shoot videos in a lead follow situation for a car channel. I have loads of compression artifacts. The quality is terrible. I was hoping GoPro had improved, the image quality is still complete garbage.
Why is my footage jittery as I move the camera around the room? If I am using 1080 30fps and 2.7k and 30fps. But if I’m using 4K 60fps it goes away. Also I’m on stabilizing on. But not boost. My go pro hero 4 doesn’t do this. Please any help is great.
please help. im recording 30 fps gp hero 7 black 2.7k. got new computer dell ultra hd 27in monitor Alienware r12 32 gig ram 2060 super. is it normal when to see trees or the edges of things seem to shutter back and forth almost like vibrating when panning side to side. any fast movement makes it almost flicker. i can see it in other peoples videos. just wondering what causes it. looks fine in 60 fps.
Forgive me if you already answered this, but can you tell me what camera and settings you used for your introduction to this video? The quality was absolutely perfect.
Amazing video. I just have 1 question, So if i record in a bright ish day, Surfing or Paddleboarding, I should use the Flat color option not the GoPro one, correct? The GoPro color option works more for darker lights?
I just bought a GoPro 12 and I love it but I have noticed that sometimes on certain skin tones things look a bit over sharpened and you can see a lot of blemishes on people’s skin, almost looks too sharp. If I’m just shooting scenery, everything looks gorgeous but when I’m shooting people or interviewing people, their skin looks a little sharp or even artifacts a bit. What do you suggest for better results?
Yes, true - GoPro adds a lot of clarity to the image - You could reduce the sharpness at least to medium or try to shoot in Log - but when shooting in log you'll have to edit each shot in post
Thanks for video! I have a very strong computer and I can process 4K/60 video from DJI Mini 2 without any problems and the video is absolutely fluid, but the same resolution from GoPro 9 (so 4K/60) is still laggy. I record manual, shutter speed 60, 4K/30, 5500K, ISO100 (maximum also 100), Flat color, medium sharpness. Video compression has no effect, so the same thing happens no matter what compression I use ... Can you please give me some advice to solve this problem?
Servus! Good video! What do you recommend do film moving vehicles with led lights? Typically they flicker in my videos. I am a beginner and am trying to improve myself.
The flickering is caused by the wrong shutter speed - try to use a low frame rate or to set the shutter speed manually - there is also an anti-flicker setting - set it to 50hz if you live in the pal region
when I shoot landscape GoPro look ok. When I shoot portraits with ND, CPL, or without ND, auto and manual setup. The skin tone looks terrible has so much graining noise and blur. Lool like a s**t. The same weather I shoot with my Fujifilm camera. skin tone video looks beautiful and amazing.
Even as a photographer/videographer it’s always good to go back to the basics and remind ourselves that the foundations of media are the same in most equipment. Well done brother.

Hey Nick, this was shot on a Sony A6300 in 4K - you can find a link in the video description!
Amazing video. I just have 1 question, So if i record in a bright ish day, Surfing or Paddleboarding, I should use the Flat color option not the GoPro one, correct? The GoPro color option works more for darker lights?
Well it’s called DROPPING FRAMES when in low light or in not enough light.
What setting should I use for boring content?
Thank you so much ✨✨
Thank you so much
What is the best compression use to go pro uploading in youtube
@@MountMediaChannel Thank you for the response. I will try it out and see what works best.
when I shoot landscape GoPro look ok. When I shoot portraits with ND, CPL, or without ND, auto and manual setup. The skin tone looks terrible has so much graining noise and blur. Lool like a s**t. The same weather I shoot with my Fujifilm camera. skin tone video looks beautiful and amazing.
You are very helpful.
Great summary, thanks for the video! Question: any recommendations for filming under/above(alternating) water (ocean)?
Thanks!
Under water I would prefer a frame rate of 30fps - it simply looks more fluid than 24fps
@@MountMediaChannel Thank you!
