I ran to the dealership when they were coming out with the 3rd gen tundra, so i could scoop up the last 2nd gen model year. I got a 2021 sr5 with 8' box, and levelling kit. She sits real nice
I like all second-generation Tundras and currently own a 2021 CrewMax Limited. The only modifications I've made to the truck are adding a tailgate actuator, ceramic tint, and a spray-in bedliner. I've also purchased 2.5" King shocks with adjusters and a transmission cooler, which I plan to install when the truck reaches 60,000 miles. I removed all the badges and intend to keep the factory height, as lifting the truck would make it difficult to park in the garage. Additionally, my wife, who is 5'2", can barely climb in as it is.
I was thinking of buying a 2025 but decided I'd rather have a "million mile" truck. A few weeks ago I got a 2021 sr5 double cab 6.5' bed with only 51,500 km . I love it ! I would like to upgrade the foog light's and get a set of bronze rims . Cheers from niagara.
Great move Phil! Did the same thing & purchased a ‘21 Platinum last month. Added some KO2’s, TRD rear stab bar, and this week, the TRD dual exhaust. Absolutely love these V8, 38 gal, trucks!
Definitely a great buy with the second generation tundra! I just bought one last month which was a 21 TRD Pro with 61,000 miles! They are solid and will last.
I bought a 2021 TRD Sport and it's perfect. I wanted the Pro but I'm glad I didn't because it's twice as much to replace when you have an accident (rims & suspension).
My dad just bought one of these about 8 months ago. He got a 2021, because he wanted the V8. He loves how the technology is minimal but also just enough at the same time. His has push to start and the 38 gallon gas tank and is an army green TRD offload. His buddy got a 3rd gen and already Toyota has recalled that stupid 3.5L TTV6. Luckily his truck isn't effected because his is a hybrid but the point is, those smaller displacement motors that are boosted to shit don't belong in trucks! Keep them in the fancy sports cars and mom SUVs! The 2nd gen tundra is the last of its kind, and they will have a very large demand for years to come. To anyone who buys one of these bears, keep and drive it until the wheels come off cause no car company is gonna make anything close to it probably ever again!
Like your Dad, I purchased a ‘21 Platinum, also w/ the 38 gal tank, low mileage that came off a lease. Added some BFG KO2’s, TRD rear stabilizer bar, and TRD exhaust. Have towed w/ it and absolutely love it!
Canadian Gearhead, you just confirm I’m not the only one who feels like I shouldn’t have to repeat every feature or the entire brochure of a a vehicle because to me it’s all about appreciating and enjoying the vehicles for what they are so I agree with you very much because I too am more of a car enthusiast and I enjoyed watching this tundra video which is a truck I would definitely consider buying depending where I live
You are spot on with your assesment of the Gen 2 Tundras. I had a '15 TRD Off Road, and sadly I sold it to my son and bought the Gen 3. It is not as good of a truck as my old girl, looking to trade and go back to the Gen 2. Great review!
Love the color man. Trd pro are the best looking Tundras overall, hope I can upgrade from SR5 to a pro in the future, but for now any Tundra model is better than domestic models
Out of all the trucks I have owned my Tundra was the all time favorite. I still have my 2004 V8 4Runner that I absolutely love. New Method wheels and Nitto Nomad tires added this year and it made for a great look...Keeping it forever! Looking for another Tundra like this one when I replace the current one I'm driving now.
previous owner did a muffler delete on mine, and it was sort of embarrassing taking off from a red light because it' s not fast, but i've got used to it and learned to not mind. the stereo upgrades helped
I have a 2020 Tundra Limited and put the trd exhaust on it. That trd exhaust is perfection with the 5.7. It gives a unique v8 rumble unlike others. I also have a camaro ss 1le with the chevy performance exhaust and i can't even hear it like you can in the Tundra.
I drove my friends stock tundra and my girlfriends father w the same mileage the TRD exhaust makes a big difference in acceleration I thought he had a tune til I did some research
A real truck! I have a 2019 incredible bulletproof vehicle. I drove four different models of the new tundras and didn't like any of them for various reasons
Another thing to note about the flush fogs you mentioned- that mod is also to add stability. The oem fog light housings on the tundra are awful and shake like crazy going down the road. Those flush mounts help eliminate this!
It seems you are describing my 2008 sequoia 5.7L excluding the shocks - which is perfect. Just hit 221550 miles today. No issues. Throw some Michelins on that and you’ll get 2 more mpg. Haha.
@@CanadianGearhead I gladly sacrifice mpg for reliability. F150 or Silverado may get 22-25+ mpg, but you’ll spend a few thousand every few years in repairs.
Beautiful truck! How does the road feel with the wheel and tire setup? Any wobbles over small bumps on the highway?? I personally have a 2021 trd pro tundra and I experience wobbles on the highway with the stock setup. Not sure what the issue is
Dude Magnuson makes a supercharger for the 5.7l tundra and maybe the v8 4runner. If u want best performance shock for ur 4runner and u like going extremely hard and Fast, I highly recommend billsteen 8112s dsa+ and 8100 bypass! Look 5-8k in to suspension is a lot of money. Trust me it's worth it! Check out Shock Surplus for all your shock needs! Not sponsored, just a great experience. Oh, and I seriously recommend just watching vids on RUclips of what the Billsteen 8112s can do! It's very impressive. The only way to describe them is, that these shocks are faster than the engine, the chassis; faster than the whole truck itself. So fast u begin to run out of throttle. And the sheer rebound of these shocks makes the ground quake. Dude they f*king badass!
I currently have the same tires but they’re 30s I’m thinking on putting 33s BF Goodrich. But seeing this makes me wanna upgrade to 33s General. I have a leveling kit on it, I’m wondering if 33s would fit without lifting it anymore?
I have all models of Tundra and my new 3rd Gen Pro is the best. Sorry to all 2 gen 5.7 owners but that 3.5 eng, 3rd gen is faster, tows way bater, better gas with more power. No recallas on the TRD PRO hybrids like the Sequoia NO recalls the Box frame , 3 link suspension rides way better. Plus the new tech features is just much nicer. You can talk to your car & have it do anything. Play a specific song and or navigate anywhere without touching a button & you can do that with leaving your phone at home.
My evo is faster, gets better gas mileage, shoots flames, but that not really the point of a truck. A reliable piece of transportation that I can throw into 4x4 and get to any job site is what I’m looking for. When the new 3.5s stop blowing up I might look at one but 102,000 engine failures in two years isn’t a good track record
@KDPMike woah, it's 102K on the recall notice, and all toyotas are always covered for 3 years on Engine and Drive trains. So no one at this point has out of pocket expense. but NOT all 102K engines, have failed only 800 and again that recall does not effect the Hybrid engines My TRD PRO 2023 is not on the recall list, just like all the Sequoias that are also all hybrids NO Recalls
@KDPMike I do have a plan if that does happen. I'll tow it with my 5.7 iif it breaks down. Then do a eng swap , from a gen 2 into a gen 3. With a supercharger.

nice, would of loved to do the same. I consider the new ones yuppie trucks.
Tundras are so baller. Same motor as the land cruiser.
Gotta 07 4x4 crewmax. Found her 6 yrs ago with only 79k miles. Honeymoon still going! Love her!
You said it so well at the end - definitely a high point in the tundra generations
all around solid vehicle
having a functional hood scoop feels even better 😉
Yeah that's 1 of my wishes.

That was me in the 4runner!!!!

Ohhh man the throaty sound of the exhaust is ASMR to my ears 😁

extended cab with the 6.5 foot bed with hard shell camper top and thats my truck.

Yeah that green console doesn’t look good at all
Who gives a shit dude. It’s not your truck.
Agreed, those green parts look like what a 17 year old kid would do.
Way better than the silver
Event is an understatement I can’t wait for all these ford ram and Chevy guys to all be outlasted by these 5.7s
That truck is the holy grail. The new ones are toys compared to that tank

Have a 21 trd sport crewmax army green, tow limit is 10,200. Tows 33" travel trailer just fine, even in hill country
Yup I fully agree. I want this truck!

These second gen.Tundras are million mile trucks.
The Million miles might be hard to achieve in the rust belt where I reside. But they are the most reliable trucks around.
On the market for a truck, tundra high on the listed but the 5.7 out of my budget unless it replaces my 4.7 V8 4Runner.
