      Was the music too loud? Sorry about that. I try to have music that's retro and related to the video. In this case Wario Land 2. but if it was, I'm sorry about that. It's a little tough to have music that works for people listening on headphones and some people that are just having speakers or off their phones. I try but thank thank you for bringing that to my attention and I will try to have it be less overpowering in future. I wish that RUclips would let me tweak a video once it's uploaded but they don't.

    Great video, did ya know it also supports the palette swap for non gbc games by using different combinations of the dpad and a/b buttons? Try right+a when starting up pokemon red/blue during the boot screen.

    • @8bitjoystick
      @8bitjoystick  3 месяца назад

      I don't think that works. I tried holding different keys during boot up during the GBC core and it kept rebooting until I stopped. It is possible to switch between their official pallets in GB mode from the menu. I'll keep trying and will get back to you.

    I want one. Picked out all the parts. I just REALLY want the OG GB with color games capability and modern screen. I do not love the size of GBC compared to the big brick. 😢. I gave away my like green GBC years ago...probably 2004 and really haven't missed it. I had a lot of opportunities to buy more over the years before prices went nuts. I would definitely buy THIS kit before buying an OG GBC

    • @8bitjoystick
      @8bitjoystick  16 дней назад +1

      This thing is almost the exact size as an original Game Boy Color even to the point that you could swap out the controller buttons. I really love how it slips into my pocket and it's got a great battery life. I completely agree that the Game Boy Color has just a very nice form factor and the curved back makes it pretty ergonomic

    I agree with almost everything you said in this video except the impossible burger & I can believe is not butter compassion. It’s more like Nintendo gave us a thing slice of fajitas bowled in water with the gameboy color and the fpgbc is more like a 2 inch ribeye grilled on charcoal, extra salt. Cheers !

      I also thought that the Game Boy Color was pretty fun back in the day. I wish they would have had a backlit screen on it or at least an option to have a lit screen like the GBA SP 001. But The Game Boy Color did pretty good but it would have been cool if they had a Game Boy Color Light version on the market for people who wanted a backlit screen or even a side lit screen

    • @Ricky-ju9ms
      @Ricky-ju9ms 2 месяца назад

      @@8bitjoystick yeah, they also missed a great opportunity to release an updated version of the gameboy color, sort of like a legendary edition. Some what the same as the fpgbc but Nintendo branded. I know I would def buy one, and if they can include the whole library of games for an extra fee that would be amazing. Although there might be licensing issues to include the games, I think there is a market to get an updated handheld. Heck even for the DMG and pocket. Cheers

    • @8bitjoystick
      @8bitjoystick  2 месяца назад

      Even if they didn't include any games I would buy a new Game Boy Color/Advance. I don't know why Nintendo does not start making cartridges again for their classic systems, I think collectors would dig it and it would be printing money

      I'm really surprised that they don't put together a basic manual. I could really see this being more popular if they just packaged it a little bit more better for regular consumption for everybody except people already in the know on the Game Boy modding scene. Of which I am not that deep into. I'm thinking about buying a new case and a new screen

      For the screws on either side of the dpad I didn't tighten them all the way, I read about folks cracking their shells that way. You may want to loosen them a bit if your dpad feels too stiff.

    • @8bitjoystick
      @8bitjoystick  3 месяца назад

      The D-Pad is not that stiff, it is just that is what a New Membrane feels like. I don't think the screw by the D-Pad affects the D-Pad.

    I don't get it, why doesn't anyone talk about how the screen has ghosting? compared to an older Q5 gameboy backlight mod its worse, also the speaker has way too much bass to the point it sounds muffled, does anyone else have these problems? The ghosting isn't that bad but I noticed it

    • @8bitjoystick
      @8bitjoystick  3 месяца назад

      I didn't notice any bad ghosting, Did you have frame mix on? I don't run the speaker at full volume and made sure that the rubber O-Ring was on to prevent reverb against the case.

      @@8bitjoystick Wow I'm an idiot I should have tested that.. I did have frame mix on I guess because one game was glitched and left it on but your right the ghosting goes away when frame mix is off! Still the speaker seems very odd, I too put on that rubber ring on and its not that its echoing its just the treble seems very low (the volume is very LOUD but the treble is minimal and muffled, almost like the sound isn't clear (when compared to original gameboy color and other consoles like the Anbernic RGB353 ect.) Its like someone has there hand covering the speaker slightly

    • @8bitjoystick
      @8bitjoystick  3 месяца назад

      Glad to help. I found that playing Castlevania Adventure with the Frame Mix on created a "shimmer" that went away when I turned it off. But Frame Mix is needed for games that have transparency like Parodius Da! in order for the transparency to work.
      I agree with you on the speaker being weird compared to other game boys, It is more noticeable at higher volumes.
