Well, that almost makes me wonder if you have some dud HDMI cables. You also might try setting all of the HDMI options to manual and also set the color mode to normal. Basically, since the signal is going to go through this device, it's going to take out the ability of your PlayStation 3 to talk to the TV so you need to manually set these things and there's a ton of HDMI settings in the PlayStation. 3. I also think it's a little crazy that the PlayStation 3 has HDCP bullshit content protection enabled for everything. Not just movies off disc. I actually had to buy a video splitter in order to do HDMI video capture out of my PlayStation 3 to get rid of it.

Well there are a variety of HDMI options for regular N64. I too totally want to see some reviews, video deep dives and tests before I consider getting one.

Well, most N64 games actually had an internal resolution of 320 by 240. You don't actually know what it's going to look like stretching to 4k. They haven't actually given any test footage or shown any footage of it upscaling games or even rendering games. They should have actually shown a prototype running games before they did the pre-order. You have no idea what you're going to get, and I hope you're happy with the results

@8bitjoystick stretching what? 4k is a resolution not a dimension. Have you not seen emulation running on large screens in 4k. N64 games look amazing. Think you need to educate yourself a little. If this does as it says, then it's going to be far superior to the dribble you just ranted in your video.

@Retrojunkies_Retroboy right and the N64 has most games being rendered at 320x240 that is what each game was coded to run at and that is not going to look as good as you think it is. Each game is not going to be patched to run at a higher resolution, they are just probably going to have a MISTr N64 core patched to run on their chipset. I don't see why you're arguing when they haven't actually shown anything running on actual hardware. Personally I'm not going to pay for anything until I actually see something running on real hardware. Besides the N64 was meant to run on CRT TVs, not only is that the only experience that is authentic to what Nintendo actually intended you to do with the N64 format but it's probably going to look a hell of a lot better then having a low resolution 3D image stretched out over a 4K LCD screen. I'm sort of over smoothing filters over a scaled image for games that were designed to run at a lower resolution. You're free to make your own video on the subject. Your opinion is your opinion, it's not "correct " it's yours. But you're most welcome to make your own video and I highly encourage you to do so.

I was able to watch about a half an hour of the Hanukkah oh the Rocks movie on Hallmark, hopefully enough for me to make it up to Marc Summers. You know a lot of places suggested The American Tails movies and yeah I should watch them again.

Well I'm not sure if me doing poorly at Magician Lord would qualify as a relaxing video but if it helps you then awesome. Probably one of the most Jewish things I've ever done is bought multiple cans of Maxwell House coffee to get the Haggadahs. The coffee is well. Well I just wish a better taste in coffee company would make haggadahs, But what does it say about capitalism that the gold standard of a holy book is published by a coffee company.

The thing is this is exactly how cultural traditions get started. A couple people probably started doing this 120 years ago because I thought it would be a fun thing to do and now it has significant cultural history and is enjoyed by thousands and thousands

You moved from Austria to Australia? That is about as far as you can get on the globe but not alphabetically. In the second video in the series I played a Scandinavian developed Mega Drive game that was only released in Australia and New Zealand, which is a little crazy because it's about Santa Claus at the North Pole, and not a lot of snow. I guess Hanukkah is also a summer holiday.

You know I'm completely with you, that they need to have dip switch options for the arcade releases. I'm sort of amazed that they don't. Especially when they do Neo Geo games. We better have the option to enable blood and we better have the option to put in as many quarters as you want.

Well, I didn't even get a chance to go into the work that Pope John Paul II did in repairing a lot of painful history between the Jewish people and the Catholic church. I also will give Pope Benedict a lot of credit because he was a part of the same effort in mending fences between the Jewish people and the Church. @@MotownBatman So a couple years ago Hanukkah actually was early enough and it actually started on Thanksgiving and so that was an incredible culinary holiday mashup blessing for the Jewish people because we got to have cranberry sauce on latkes, That is a culinary tradition from me. My personal theory about the Game Boy Resurgence is playing game boy in the modern day is really efficient to get a big dose of nostalgia and the contrast between the Game Boy and modern gaming couldn't be greater so you get a greater hit of retro nostalgic dopamine. also the modern development tools greatly help and the more people that are developing indie games for it the more healthy and robust Community is so it benefits from momentum.

Well Hanukkah was an ancient celebration at least 2,000 years old but it fell out of practice until the most recent 200 years. I don't exactly know when the holiday became less popular but it's not up there with Passover and the High Holy Days. Ironically it's probably the most well-known Jewish holiday but it's not even the most top five when it comes to religious importance. It does have the most gift-giving, chocolate and donuts so we like it.

Well, Hanukkah truly is a warriors holiday. That would also be a victory in the face of a great foe. Except Mike Tyson actually seems to be like a pretty cool guy these days.

If you're talking about the original release of Contra for famicom it did not have the Konami code. That was added for the Western release.

Well with much of the Torah we don't know which is analogy and which we consider to have happened. In a way it doesn't really matter because it's all supposed to be a guide to how one lives your their life and has a cultural religious tradition. A major difference between christianity and Judaism is we do not believe that demons or outside forces make us do bad things. We believe that we have the capacity for bad things within us all, yetzer hara. I just always think it's sort of fascinating to see that some folks that were raised in the Christian traditions learn that despite having some of the same books we have a very different perspective on things.

He also has no fear of fire. He has walked up and put his tail in an open flame before. He has these long whiskers that I want to also keep out of the candles. @@8bitjoystick From what I've read over the years, changes were usually put in place when publishers deemed a Japanese game to be to difficult for us mere mortals, born outside of the land of the rising sun, that said there are some that are more difficult, I am pretty sure SINISTRON their VIOLENT SOLDIER was tougher on the TURBO GRAFX, but as a rule their games are the ones to pick for more of a challenge and bragging rights!🕹

Well on some of my better in Japan videos. I covered how some games were made way more difficult for the US market and in doing so they pretty much took most of the fun out of the game. Like Rocket Knight Adventures and Streets of Rage 3 were considerably more fun in Japan. Because they artificially increased the difficulty to try and make it harder to beat in a single night due to the American video game rental market.

I need to go back and watch some of your older videos when time permits, I enjoyed your coverage of the Chromatic which is something I hope to purchase this coming year, I've 100's of GAMEBOY/Color games (Not an exaggeration) I've written 2 books on the GAMEBOY too, my originals screen needs repairing, my Pocket isn't Color and the GBA's not ideal what with the cart' overhang, which makes the Chromatic a great solution for me, it appears bulletproof by all accounts to, so an absolute winner.

Well I'm surprised to see that one reviewer discovered that it is not strong enough to drive over it with your car. I had the plastic lens replaced on my original DMG. but the screen is still original. I sort of see the importance about keeping at least one stock original system and then one system that is either all fpga or modded all the way.

Well, I like how the FPGBC does it, you can pick a palette and mode from a menu, save it, and it will stay in that mode until you change it again. That is what I want on the Chromatic.

@8bitjoystick i stopped using the FPGBC due to the glitchy graphics with some games. Also the colors armt correct

Well that's one of the things about the fpgbc that I dislike as when you play a game boy game and Game Boy Color mode you often have to adjust the graphics fix on a per game basis. I like how the chromatic just works

@@8bitjoystick Cheers mate, I am glad I found you/your channel as you appear to have grown up around the same games as myself and like similar systems and titles. The only thing I own currently that you could consider modern would be the PS3, I far prefer the 2D era, I bought the PS3 mainly for things that'd be impossible on cart' like SKYRIM, DARK SOULS and The MASS EFFECT Trilogy, but it'll always play second fiddle to the 8/16 BIT stuff.

Well technically I sort of consider the PlayStation 3 to be retro but it's it's a gray area in it depends for each person. But I mean the PlayStation 3 is more than one generation behind and they're no longer making games for it and there are remastering games that were released on it. But at the same time retro games were a thing when the PlayStation 3 was in its heyday and retro games were released for the PlayStation 3 so we're in a situation where some of the Retro collections are old enough to they themselves be considered retro.

I think your age plays a big factor to, I consider anything I had under the age of 18 to be retro, so I guess if you got a Playstation for your 5th birthday you'd likely have no interest in going back to try a Commodore VIC 20 (kids today would laugh) which is what I was playing at that age, the golden 12-16 yr old era for me mainly being these 3: MEGADRIVE, GAMEBOY and AMIGA and at 18 the Playstation which is where I'd say things took a huge leap, if you weren't already playing on a high-end PC. Well here is a montage of my system. One thing that I noticed is the angles of the side of the system are a trapezoid so it's sort of like an optical illusion. Since the line on the right is going off at an angle it sort of makes the buttons look off. So these are held up by springs and I don't know if your console is like that but I'm happy with mine. So I will look at my retro USB AVS and it will be turned on because my cat has been stepping on it. He's very inconsiderate to not turn off my consoles when he's done with them.
