    Foghat absolutely deserves to be in the Hall of Fame! They should have made it when they were alive. Disgraceful!

    • @1Rockdad
      @1Rockdad 5 лет назад +1

      Of course so many agree with you but sadly so many greats once and IF they are inducted it's when the voice is weak, changed or blown out after 4 decades of performances. Ever notice how Paul Shaffer happens to be there acting part of the band ? He is a board member of the Rock-n-Roll hall of shame.

      @@1Rockdad I THINK ITS AN HONOR NOT TO BE IN THE R&R HALL OF SHAME, LOOK AT SOME OF THE ACTS THEY LET IN WHICH DOESN'T HAVE HALF THE TALENT THAT FOGHAT HAD. THEY ARE A BUNCH OF LIBERAL WACK JOBS ANYHOW, WE THE FANS KNOW BETTER WHEN IT COMES TO THIS INCREDIBLE ACT, ROD THE BOTTLE PRICE IS PERHAPS ONE OF THE BEST SLIDE GUITARIST OF ALL TIME, I WOULD PROBABLY PUT DUANE ALMAN AS THE BEST EVER , LONESOME DAVE KNEW HOW TO MOVE THE MUSIC AND THE AUDIENCE, I GOT A CHANCE TO SEE THEM IN 83 AND 93 , 83 THEY OPENED FOR TRIUMPH AND THEY BLEW TRIUMPH OUT OF THE OMNI IN ATLANTA, THEN I GOT TO SEE THEM FOR THE RETURN OF THE BOOGYMEN TOUR WHICH UNITED THE 4 ORIGINAL MEMBERS

    Man, what an inspiring video! Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, and there's no correct one, but I couldn't see anything heartbreaking about this video. What hit me, after the pure rock-n-roll beauty of his ass-kicking performance was knowing that Lonesome Dave crossed over to the other side only months later.
    And what's all this about "rest in peace"? Reminds me of a remark I remember Ted Nugent making between songs: "I hope nobody came here to get mel-low...anybody who came here to get mel-low better get the fuck outa here!" Dave was all about rockin' at high volume. Somehow I can't picture him accepting an offer to rest in peace--and good on 'em.
    No one gets out alive. Dave was a world best crazy rocker until he dropped dead. No better example of having to be dragged kicking and screaming into that good night, just like I'm sure they had to drag him off stage after Foghat's performances. Right on, Dave! Thanks for always leading by super-human example.

    Lonesome Dave was the man, and what a good guy he was. What a trooper, Rocking until the end, even when he was having bad days towards the end, still were better than most peoples best days!!!

    9/9/99 in Houston in the middle of hurricane season. Must have been hot and humid! Dave and Tony had to have been sweltering in those suits!

      This show was a little over a mile from where I worked in Houston, they had them every Thursday night in the summer, Steppenwolf, Iron Butterfly, Delbert, Savoy Brown etc would show up for these shows, this was one of the most fun , I usually would be able to get up on the front row but there were so many people at this one I was at least 30 rows back, I didn't realize Dave was so sick at the time and you never would have been able to tell at this show, probably the 7th time I ever got to see Foghat live, in the early days they would open shows (and sometimes steal those shows) for bigger bands, these guys knew how to put on a live show.

    I saw these guys live in 1977 and of course by then I knew all their songs inside and out. These guys were pretty far off the hook as a band and they were hard rock in sound but got a lot of mileage out of the older rock and blues traditions. The dueling electric guitars where one player would mirror the other but then try to roast his opponent is something Foghat did, but they also became skilled at using two guitars within their songs like Aerosmith was doing, focusing on making all the killer riffs mesh together. Every one of their songs sounded better in the live recordings whether it was Slowride or Fool for the City. Their live album was a huge seller and Foghat did a lot to convince people that live recordings were often better and they should both go to the show and buy albums of real performances.

    Everyone should know that Rod Price is not in this video, but it's Bryan Bassett. Rod had left the band.
