I consider myself fortunate to have lived in the age of Foghat,AC/DC,Bad Company. They sang the soundtrack of my life. I especially miss Dave and Rod. They inspired me to play slide guitar and I've made a living doing just that, so thank you Dave and Rod.
Lonesome Dave truly embodied rock n' roll! My Dad and 2 uncles followed foghat around since the early 70s, I followed them as well and still do. (Dave and Rod are the reason I became a musician and audio engineer) They had gotten to know Mike McConnell their manager also had gotten to know Dave and the band quite well. My dad talks of Dave's heart for the music, the band, and their fans. LoDave will forever be one of thr greatest rock frontmen to step on stage, and Foghat has earned its well-deserved place in rock history, and frankly should be inducted into the rock hall of fame. I know when I arrive at the pearly gates some day I'll hear that announcement "Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome FOGHAT!! So....In the immortal words of Lonesome Dave, "We're gonna roll til we're old and we're gonna rock til we drop"! RTTB (rest to the beat) Dave!
I saw them in the 1980 s in cardwell Missouri at bar and got to shake the lead singer hand l love them so much they are amazing they will always be in my heart and soul
Thank you so much for sharing this...Dave nearing thee end of his life and still belting out those great vocals..Foghat will live forever in my mind and soul!!
Perry , it is incredible what lonesome Dave did here. He was committed to the end. You could not see anything in his presence this was the end. He loved performing. Rest in peace Lonesome Dave and Rod!
Back on my dark road I know so well, I'm so broken hearted no one, no one can tell. that line gets me every time I hear it, gone 17 years & it seems like yesterday.
wow i bet that was .2 great bands.love the Montrose, its amazing.Foghat 2.it would be hard to pick 1 cause there both fantastic ..imo i think montrose is the better record but Foghat has more great albums.montrose montrose is the king but there others not to much for me.Foghat has many greats
Talking about rock and roll, those two band Rock the Nation for many years! Dave, Rod, Ronnie are gone but there music lives on. Heaven has some Blues rocker!
12/5/1973 Cowtown Ballroom Kansas City, MO. I was leaning against the stage just below Lonesome Dave. This was my first live concert I ever saw. Nobody and mean nobody has rocked my life like those guys!!!! Slade came close. :)
RIP Dave, Rod, and Craig. I met Rod back in 1980 and every Sunday friends will get together at his home to play softball. Dave and Rodger never really played. So I never really knew Dave or Rodger. Rod was a good man and what I heard of Dave that he also was a good man. I will always cherish those days when the Boogie Hotel Studio was jamming. I would also take this moment to thank Rodger keeping the band legacy going “ Keep on Rockin” Hod bless.
@@JohnSmith-us2dh John, I was at some of those games at Rod's house and it was great fun. Jorge, Todd, Gary (all crew) Rod, Craig, Robin and a bunch I can't recall (including you :) ) I'm sorry you never got to know Dave, he was a nice guy and humble as could be. If I remember correctly any hit past the driveway was a home run :)
Hi Thanks for putting this out,,,its Dave at his best,,and then the circumstances he wrote it under,,Great..That Anderson tele looks like its just dripping with tone..I unfortunately have never got to play one..Thanks again...DH
Stage Left Promotions; we produced 11 concerts with FOGHAT(starring Lonesome Dave - 1943-2000) the last one, in 1993~!....and it break's my heart, to know that at the time, he had already been diagnosed with an incureable disease?....living, playing & writeing; ANGEL OF MERCY after finding out??....that's feeling like he's acomplished "THE DREAM" he worked hard for *****
What year was this? I saw them 2x in the 70s! Always one of my favorite bands! These guys were pure musicians! Lonesome Dave could sing with the best of them.
This was also one of the last shows with Rod Price. Soon after he left the band for a second (and final) time, going out on his own. Rod died of a heart attack in 2005. A side note? Dave was replaced by Charlie Huhn, who I knew from his days in Grand Rapids playing the bar circuit with the Vic Amato band. Charlie went on to play with Ted Nugent, Humble Pie and finally as front man for Foghat, where we spent some time catching up after a show in Portland Oregon's Waterfront park many years ago.

I find it difficult to listen to this knowing what Dave was going thru and not tear up a bit.

Foghat was my 1st concert I have been grateful ever since.
He still sang wonderful even though what he was going through. When you have the voice and talent you have the talent and voice.
The true meaning of guitar rock.. sadness aside.
So good to see the real deal , that Foghat cover band with Roger Earl on drums isn't cuttin' it !
May God bless him.

Dave sounds amazing.
I wasn't even aware that he'd passed on. I just now read that it was from a cancerous tumor in one of his kidneys. Very sad. R.I.P. Lonesome Dave!

I've seen most of the greats in my time, but my biggest regret is never seeing Led Zeppelin and Foghat.
Yeah...but they were true rockers through and through.
One of the most unsung guitarists-and he knows the mistake in this tune
Rock out in heaven

Wondering if he excepted Jesus before passing.
He sure seemed to enjoy what he did
