    with the original song, my best friends and I would listen to it as kids because we found it relaxing.
    when one of my friends got diagnosed with cancer, we listened to it.
    and when he was in hospital, we listened to the song.
    then, in 2017, when he was experiencing his final moments, we played the song for him.
    years later, and my friend and I discover this version of the song
    we know he would've loved this version, and now we're going to play it at our school's showcase in honour of him
    me playing the guitar, my friend playing the violin, and both of us playing it in tribute

Not only is it being used to mourn the person passed, but also to honour the light and happier parts of their life. Funerals shouldn't be entirely sad, and having part of the song be a bit lighter can be taken as a message to move on, to acknowledge that yes it is sad and hard to deal with, but not to dwell on that.

    "It was a sad song. It was a happy song. It was a song of a summer day from years ago, tucked between faded memories like a flower pressed between the pages of a heavy book, now dusted off and clean. It was a song of an artist mother and a warrior father, and sons that were both. It was a song about the grass beneath Wilbur’s feet and the sweet scent of flowers in his lungs. It was a song about war and ruin, and grief and loss, and the nightmares that still managed to take him by surprise even when he was awake, and living anyway. It was a song about love and all the ways to say it: sacrifice and a cup of hot tea waiting at his desk, chess during the lazy days and music during the hard ones, leaving and staying, remembering and forgetting. It was a song about family, born or made or found or rediscovered.

I asked for a violin and got one a year later. I’ve played since that day, it’s like a person that won’t leave you alone whom you grow to love. When your in an orchestra, your job is to make it so that the audience can hear the story in the music. I’d say the people in orchestra are the ones that have the most fun because it’s like we’re playing out the scenes while you guys watch.

The major section is a ray of hope, but that hope is temporary, the recapitulation inevitable. This is a nonchalant tango with one foot in the grave, waiting for fatigue to drag the other helpless foot in.

      Crypton lets everyone choose what they want them to be in the end. If you want so see them as siblings that's totally fine. Same if you want to see them as lovers or as the same person. (There are songs where Rin and Len are literally the same person)
      Some example of songs where they are different things:
      Daughter of Evil/Server of Evil/ Story of Evil stuff: Siblings
      Seasonal Feathers: lovers

    I have a question for the people who actually play and perform this piece. For violin, what position did you find most comfortable for the section at 2:08?

      I'd love to know too! 🤔

    • @killaved4262
      @killaved4262 2 года назад +7

      Well usually the piece itself specfies the position. And it here is the gase too seeing as the same phrase contains upwards glissando

    • @Heatwavesonjune15th
      @Heatwavesonjune15th 2 года назад +5

      You have to shift positions depending on the section. As the person above me stated there are usually indicators to which part is meant to be played in what poition.

    • @schtoompid

      im pretty sure for a good part of it i played it in 3rd and shifted to 4th for the melodics

    • @catherinewahlenmayer1750
      @catherinewahlenmayer1750 2 года назад +1

      Bar 35, I stay in first position, go to fourth position for bar 37, then back to first half way through that same bar. Bar 38, start in third, drop to first position half way through. I'm a little rustier than I used to be, so first position is usually most comfortable, but it's not necessarily the best sound. Not sure what Alexandra's fingering is for bar 38, but the gliss is not marked in my copy of the music

    Piazzolla's works sound perfectly on any instrument, but this version for guitar and violin sounds imposing, sublime, monumental.
