It's probably commissioned by the national arts council in Singapore to promote Singaporean artists and budding international musicians to come over and enroll in its arts colleges. Hope the two get more recognition in this academic driven country of ours...
Beginning with Mozart #2, since acquiring the Guarneri just over a year ago Chloe has given us a series of masterpieces that exemplify most genres in the repertoire. In all seriousness, I think the effect of this wonderful instrument on her sound world has been as spectacular as was that of the telescope on Galileo's view of the heavens.
I’ve been working on Bordel 1900 lately and her version so good. I liked that she chose a different tempo from what you usually hear. Congrats to the guitarist because the accompaniement is quite hard.
If you still have the piece and it doesn’t trouble you too much. Could I have the sheet music? I can’t seem to find a violin version of Bordel anywhere
While being forced to listen to Chloe audio-only has been a huge pleasure, and very enlightening - I cannot be the only one whose eyes distract my ears - I very much look forward to watching Chloe and Kevin's performance of Bordel 1900. (Just 20 minutes to go now!) Chloe's marvellous interpretation overflows with joie de vivre and youthful energy. I want to see her having fun!
Your interpretation of cafe 1930 has always been my favourite, so getting a full recording of the histoire du tango is a brilliant gift. The tone, the phrasing and musicality, the articulation... simply phenomenal. Such a pleasure to listen to you and Kevin. Congrats, and I hope to listen to more of your recordings in the future! :)! Keep up the good work!
Well, I tend to agree, partly. I didn't missed any recording Chloe made available. I'm still thinking that the best version of Cafe is the live one from Menuhin competition but it is just my feeling. You are absolutely right about phrasing, musicality, articulation, details... they are really top notch in this recording and far suerior to the older version. What I'm not so sure about is if it is always the best for the composition :) Let's look at the names of the parts: Bordel 1900 Cafe1930 Nightclub 1960 It doesn't give too much room for perfection and details, is it ? Well if it was Paganiniana, it would be a different story. Now let me explain how it feels to me. I think it is a bit artificial version of Piazzola. Really tidy, clean, refined, technically brilliant, polished it is OK. But as a whole it feels to me a bit like a Disney comics of a Nightclub, not the real Nightclub itself. Now I think that Chloe is really genius. I think she doesn't have any limits so she could make a lot of different versions including the raw one depicting real NIghtclub. She didn't . She made really interesting recording even if it is not the raw real version of Piazzolla/Nightclub but Chloe/comics/Nightclub, but it just doesn't work for me. She could play real BANG! sound on the violin, I'm sure about it. What she did instead is that she played a white comics bubble and then chosen precisely a font and colors and played BANG! text inside that bubble, which is not the same as the BANG! sound itself, if you know, what I mean. It is technically brilliant I must admit. I just decided I prefer older recording because it was - more living.
@@rofo2107 I mean, music can mean so differently to different people. No recordings are perfect. You may like a certain interpretation of the nightclub 1960 (I totally respect your ideas!), but this sounds great to me, personally. It's nice music to enjoy anyways!
@@featherpig3706 well, the technical aspect was brilliant but technical aspect is not the main asset of the music. If it starts to feel as a barrier or takes too much of the attention instead of being inspiration it is maybe time to start thinking about reducing it and focus on something different :) It may sound ridiculous. I think that nearly all young artists tend to boost technical aspects to the maximum extend just to learn that is not the way to go. It gives more precise tools and more posibilities but more precise tools and more posibilities don't guarantee anything. If they are boosted too much and become the main aspect they start to work counterproductive. This is something that sensitive musicians (like Chloe) should avoid.
Marvelous! Such a pleasure to hear Chloe again; it had been a while... Those glissendi in Cafe 1930 have so much emotion in them (but we already knew that). What a pleasure - and treasure - to now have the entire Suite. The character is perfect in each movement. Thank you Chloe and Kevin!
As a person who loves classical music and learned what this song was from something else that I enjoy (being vague for a reason) it was joy to see this in my recommended
Beautiful as always!! its nice to hear your emotion play and not just a bunch of notes flooding the air with thunder. your tones wash the velvet with rich color. thank you sharing your gift.
She changed her style a lot. She used to play as a children prodigy, with all the colors of the world. Now she plays as an young adult with black and white tones and cold freezing perfection. I'm not sure about this change as I'm not violin expert but I hope she will develop into something more spontaneous. I'd be glad if this stage would be not the final one. We have too many violin perfectionists today and hardly to invent something new. I think the studio recording is always a bit colder then life performance but as for as me, it was cold way too much.
Amazing Chloe! can't help but to express my sincere gratitude for you and mr. Loh for putting this together and giving us such dazzling performance. Thank you!
My most favorite relaxing violin music , such emotion and love throughout the songs.I long to hear it again and again. I never tire to hear this music because it is anointed thanks so much it is really lovely 🌹
I can't believe you did this. I'm in love with Piazzolla since I heard his music for the very first time, the piece "Oblivion". I'd love listen to you playing it one day. You two: ¡magnífico! Thank you very much for have done this beautiful artwork.
One of the hardest things I ever played on guitar was this accompaniment for a flautist’s senior recital in college. Some of the stretches on the fret board were just insanely large.
@YiJi Kung 1. To accuse such sublime expressions of grief and profound sorrow of being "over sentiment[al]" is just crass. 2. Your analysis of Kevin's influence on this performance is refuted by their performance in March 2018 of Cafe 1930, i.e. in which the tempo adopted was faster than the tempo to which Chloe slowed for the Menuhin semi-final.
I had expected I will be getting flak and from especially you. It's my personal opinion. And I accept your opinion and any others whom has opinions on my opinion.
Yes, can't help but notice the overheated commenters coming out of the woodwork on this particular video, it's one thing to be critical and another to be plain callous. I just had to create a channel to comment and balance them out. One even went so far as to make the accusation that Chloe "likes to play 2nd violin" simply because she isn't playing loud enough to their liking. Said user also admits to not being a violin expert so there's that. Well, nor am I, but dear Chloe if you're seeing this, I absolutely adore your sensibility towards your collaboration partners, accompaniment, orchestra and above all, music as a whole. Never self-absorbed nor self-serving in the slightest, I'd say it's great part of why your playing and interpretation always comes across as genuine and sincere to me. Thank you Chloe and Kevin for this spectacular recording. Invokes joy, warmth, sentimentality, drama, melancholy, nostalgia and never leaves me cold. It's been an honour Chloe, being able to witness your growth as an artist, much appreciation to Kevin for being a constant in Chloe's journey as well. Here's to many many more years to come!
Beautiful! It should be released as album to buy, it is shame we can just listen to it free, we are blessed with such amazing art.

This is a demonstration of absolute mastery and i even feel ashamed that this can be watched for free.
It just goes to show where arts and culture lie on a scale of 1 to 10 and how it is taken for granted.
