This is such an amazing performance... I was born in Portugal in '84, my father played the guitar but sadly he passed away before I was 10 years old. I only got a glimpse of what guitar music was like before I could think about the world and sense it with my own senses. Still, this Prelude No.1 by Villa-Lobos, performed by Alexandra, a brit, made me remember and feel so much of that culture, omg. This is also why we should embrace all people from all over the world - no matter where you come from, you can express beauty and feeling that truly resonates.
Watched the concert twice already. Alexandra has impeccable technique, but what makes her stand out is how beautifully expressive her playing is. Many guitarists have fantastic technique, but Alexandra is not just a guitarist. She is an artist, whose playing really moves you.
She's great, an amazing performer, but let's face it, she gets the attention she gets because of her looks also. That's just the way of the world. Same like Vidovic. And Milos whatever his name was. She's great don't get me wrong, but the aesthetics help greatly also
I can’t believe what I’m watching right now. This guitar playing is phenomenal. I’m so glad I found this site. Thanks so much for this enlightening experience.
Alexandra plays so well... I'm Portuguese, born in 1984. I'm stopped whenever I listen to this.... After a few minutes I go like "how cool is it a brit girl" captures all the meaning... Also the meaning maybe I didn't know I had within me.... This performance on this video is truly special. OMG Alexandra can you please not shine so bright, I have to pause to recoup energy while I watch this........
I had to get out the headphones to listen to Alexandria Whittngham’s concert. Amazing tone & technique. I liked the selection of pieces, in that they were all very harmonious. I don’t like some modern classical with too much dissonance. Thank you Siccas Guitars for sponsoring this concert. Thank you Alexandria for keeping our spirits up during difficult times.
Over my seventy five years, I have attended performances by many ( mostly male ) classical guitarists - Andre Segovia, John Williams, Julian Bream to name a few. This attractive young lady presents a level of technical skill and ability far beyond her years, which is most impressive - in fact superlatives fail me. I listened for long periods with my eyes closed, but there was nothing to fault, Alexandria plays with precision, interpretation and presentation that few master - she is, truly gifted, and a great pleasure to listen to. Many, many thanks :)
Alexandra, by far , I have been romanced , of all your videos , This performance , the sincerity , emotional carry, proper animation, touched me with who you really are. You Owned it all. Thank you Siccas Guitars for this Premiere , their are few to compare , that is a very high shelf.
Thank you, my father in the 40s wanted to play, during the big band era, he had an Aunt whom wanted to pay for his music education, never happened. All good, The war. thank you very much, for Freedom, and why you and I still exist. I love your Music, Thank you, what do I know, take care, all good, in my 60s, great , beautiful music, Thankyou!
Again, she is so emotional in her playing. She makes me get watery eyes. I have learned much in her playing. She makes me listen hard at each note I play. I was playing notes before, now I play music.
This is a phenomenal performance: Alexandra, Una Fenómena, herself, technically & in her impressive range of expression; superb "attack," & the softest emotion, too. Such superb guitars, as well, of course. I love the Romanillos; the old thought about the guitar as a sort of orchestral microcosm rises here, operatic, even - all the voices heard strongly together. The Schäfer, no less, or the others, really. Siccas once again deserves great credit for their service to the art of the classical guitar, & to its wonderful current & new players & luthiers. One day I shall welcome one of their creations into my arms...
Oh man, the Fantasia at 5:10... I was born in Portugal in '84 - there's a lot of history between Portugal and Spain with the guitar, no matter what style of guitar you refer to. Still, English has always been a powerhouse, and I learnt english as I was a kid, since it was "the future!" everyone said. It's so nice and ironic this performance by Alexandra, a british lady - I've only grown up to listening to this kind of guitar performances as an after thought. But, many years later, and after I've developed my English, I discover this performance - and all those feelings I thought were lost are now back to me and simultaneously the feelings of: let music be free and accessible to everyone no matter where they were born in the world - that way we get these performances and artists everywhere in the world. Man, I'm Portuguese, but I discovered some part of my roots due to RUclips and this Alexandra's performance's - I'm crying for gratefuness. Thanks for this video. Also: the last two preludes... again, as a portuguese, man, many years after my father died, I feel like this performance touched my soul and the memory of my father like nothing else before that I was able to understand as I was 10y old when he died. And to think that Alexandra, a british girl touched all this in my soul with her performance - the conclusion is that it truly is a blessing that artist all over the world can have access to music all over the world, no matter what culture and ancestry it comes from! Please make it so it's like this forever.
Who wouldn't be thrilled Alexandra is a supremely talented young musician who is a pleasure to listen to and to watch. she is, at a vey young age, the equivalent of John Williams et al. I'm only sorry her CD was no longer on sale with pieces like Saudade 3 on it. Congratulations Alexandra and thank you so much for the concert.
That second piece by Luigi Legnani - 1982?? That guy knew how to pull on the heartstrings for decades. The depth, the length of the piece. At the end I realized I just travelled all my life listening to it. And Alexandra's playing was so over the top good!! Like she nudge me every moment in the right way, but never noticeably. I can't get over this performance. Thanks.
That was truly a outstanding performance. Enjoyed every moment. Took me away from this dreary isolation for a while and put some warmth back into my soul. Thank you Siccas and thank you Alexandra that was special.
I was introduced to classical guitar music when ClassicFM shared an Alexandra performance on Facebook, and I've become a fan of the art.
