    Also: Salmon Run! Your momentum already gets canceled when you drop an egg in the basket when you're in inkling form, which is nice, but if you add sub strafing when you grab an egg, it makes the process of running them so much faster. And when it gets hectic, or when there are a lot of eggs to run, those split seconds really start to add up.

    The nautilus can save its charge. If you press ZR before pressing ZL, you'll keep whatever charge you had saved up. I'd say this weapon can technically main strafe effectively.

    • @SquidSchool
      @SquidSchool  3 года назад +1

      Yes, that is one part of this video that I present inaccurately; I put it in the description and pinned it in a comment. I wouldn't say it can main strafe as well as, say, an N-Zap, it's a lot slower and less maneuverable than that, but it's still more effective than it is as I present it.

    when using naut you can cancel firing into charge. since you can also store partial charges with naut, you can pop out of the ink, shoot, hold ZR again, go back into the ink instantly and store the remaining charge, then move and pop out again (probably with a jump since naut doesn't get extra air rng and it lets it hold momentum), then fire. main downside is that for every charge storing weapon with the exception of goo tuber, popping out of ink with a charge puts you into a bit of lag.

    i dont think they would ever patch sub or main strafing because that stuff is like. kind of expected for the game to do even if you dont know how to explicitly exploit it. im a low level player and i still like to be able to retreat quickly in the other direction after swimming up to someone and pulling the trigger. it would feel bad if they added a delay to compensate. wavedashing is significantly less fundamental and more realistic to patch without ruining the feel of the game

      If you do want to improve, consistent, thoughtful practice is how you get there. Don't just play the game, actively think after every game about how you're going to approach the next game better. Don't look at your skill in the game as a measure of your worth as a person or something, it's fine for your friend to be better at the game than you.

    • @SquidSchool
      @SquidSchool  2 года назад

      Moving at a right angle from the direction they're aiming is good for throwing their aim off, and jumping can mess their aim up, but if it's too obvious a pattern, strong players will catch on and it'll probably stop working. If by "around them" you mean you're crossing them up, that's really strong, provided your weapon wants to be at short range against theirs.

      @@tangerine7068 I generally recommend using motion for engagements and only using sticks when you need to look around or when you need to add extra speed to your motion aiming, but if you aren't using motion or your sensitivity is low, that might be the only way you can adjust your aim while moving. Like I say in the video, you should also consider staying grounded and strafing depending on your weapon, because jumping is a big commitment and makes you an easier target in some ways.

      You have a good point. As with many competitive players before me, the standard I hold myself to is pretty high. It can sound silly sometimes to hear a strong player talk about how they're "bad" but focusing on what they can improve on is the way they get better, and it can occupy so much of their headspace that they blow their errors out of proportion.
      If you compare me to a Japanese 2900 XP N-Zap player, yes this is bad aim. That's not exactly a favorable comparison for anyone to make, but it's what I'm working toward. But it's definitely not bad aim by most people's reckoning.

    • @zeldadude2040
      @zeldadude2040 3 года назад +1

      This gave me an idea. If that is bad aim for you and I perceive that as good aim I really need to train my aim to get good at this game. So now I'm just gonna head to the training room and only practise my aim until I never miss a shot.
