I'll keep making videos in the future. I'm not the best with consistency of publishing videos, but I'm trying my best 😅

We read mornings in Jenin by Susan Abulhawa 10 years ago in my book club. Many of my book club members had no idea about the nakba and learned a lot about Palestine from it. As long as the lemon trees grow is incredible and the audiobook is excellent. I would highly recommend it even though the subject matter is heavy.

I was able to collect all those classic Corgi paperbacks of Discworld.. The huge challenge was getting absolute fine spines without fading or cracks. I also got the entire 41 collectors hardback edition like those you got. Pratchett is one of my top five favourite authors of all time. I started with Discworld again and now have reached Guards Guards !. A bit of extra effort I am putting by extracting most of the information like topography, characters and timeline because all Discworld copies are interconnected in a web of one complex world. Hey ! Do explore One Piece Manga. I don't suggest you ever get into Manga ,but give One Piece a try, it is Tolkiensque in expanse, I would claim the finest work of literature ever written.

I'm looking forward to your review of Almond. I had picked it up because of the premise and I'm thinking that a lot of it (for me anyway) got lost in translation and it was not a book I super enjoyed.
I do want to pick up As Long As The Lemon Trees Grow because it sounds very intriguing. Great haul!

I feel like numerious Japanese and Korean books lose their charm in translation so I always got into them with that in mind.

This year I only got two new books, because there's not enough space for me at my house 😔
I got Anne Frank's Diary recently, though, in a hardback edition.

I liked your haul, I only knew a few ones. I haven't bought many books in the last years, only digital ones and I read them immediately... But mostly get pdfs and later I buy them when I find them.
But also, I haven't read much lately xD
About discworld, I have it in my TBR and, from what I learned from Dominic Noble's video, there are subseries in there, and I think I'll start with the witches one.
Ps. Just out of curiosity, which is your preferred language to read? I prefer Spanish (my mother tongue), but I don't mind reading in English when there isn't a translation available.

    • @rananajjar
      @rananajjar  6 месяцев назад

Yes discworld has multiple subseries. The one I'll start is the dragons one I believe.
My native language is Arabic, but I prefer reading English books. I know I need to get back to read in my language more and I'm trying to read Arabic books every now and then.

    Nice variety here.
Notes from the underground was my first Dostoyevsky read. A bit darker than most of the others but very easy to get into and makes a great place to start if any one is looking to do that.

I’ve tried Pratchett a couple of times, and he just doesn’t do it for me. I also have the Abercrombie books and one of these days I’ll get to them. I just finished ‘Woman On the Edge of Time’ by Marge Piercy and wow, what a powerful story. My roomie is reading Kanafani, and I am studying the Communist Manifesto because I realized that I really don’t know much about it other than how excited and angry folks get about it. 😏 I’m really interested in ‘Lonely Castle in the Mirror’ and I’d love to hear how you like it.
Is it appropriate to say Happy Ramadan? Or maybe Steadfast Ramadan would be better? 🙏🏼 😊

Discworld is too refined for me. People who are learned and experienced - but not much in the field of literature - love the series. I loves Weird sisters most of all, I gave up on the series partly because there are no chapters, that is right. The box your Fantasy trilogy came in is a slip case. Books box sounds more reasonable, but English is a very weird language.
