You are not the only one who buys books just because of their cool cover…I almost bought one last night because I just adore the cover. Fortunately Amazon lets you read a sample and the writing was just not something I wanted to read over 700 pages of. But OMG, such a gorgeous cover! I like the simple pink spine of the poetry book, it would pop on the shelf and remind me of its existence. Otherwise, I like the green of the naked book. As always, lovely to hear from you!
Hah, what a funny coincidence, I live in Finland and got the same Jonas Jonasson book from the recycling center last week 😄 I don't usually clean my second hand books, they're mostly in good enough condition but I'm also afraid of ruining the covers. I have sometimes fixed old, faded covers to be closer to the original (only cloth bound though). I think the small book that had a red dust jacket and green cover is prettier without the dust jacket. I also remove the jackets if I think the "real" cover is nicer ☺️

I don't usually buy second hand books, but I saw is a good idea to freeze them for a bit (inside a plastic bag) to get rid of potential bugs.
Yes I clean all of the books I put on my shelves with disinfectant wipes.
