    That building being destroyed is so sad, and why destroy those wallabies, if they have to be removed, can they not be re homed to another island or the highland zoo, seems cruel and wrong
    Hope your documentary does some good to save them.
    Loved the drone footage too, very green.

    Just done some reading and the new owners of the island planned to remove the old timber house and they want to control the wallabies and plants that are present. All whilst building a couple houses and given the owner is also married to the owner of Soho house I can imagine they will be building it, not to live there because they care but to exploit the island for high-end holidaymakers.
    I don't know what there is to do in such an imbalanced world that someone can take their privileged upbringing, build a financial empire and then play God with what are some beautiful animals that have been native for nearly 100 years on the island. The capitalist scum in power of the "free/developed world" are taking freedom of anything but the rich and completely destroying the world around them for financial gain. Its just sad.

    I'm heartbroken to hear they want to get rid of the allabies!! It's a beautiful island and it would be great if they left it alone so more generations can enjoy it. I think making a documentry is a brilliant idea because it will capture the magic of it forever even if they do decide to kill the wallabies. The more people that know about it the better too! Keep up the good work guys!!!

    When I was a kid (which was a very long time ago) there was one pair of ospreys in the whole of the UK at loch garten. Now they’re everywhere which is fantastic. We have a crappy little loch near me called Thom. Its not even a real loch its a reservoir but every summer for the past 10 years or so we’ve had ospreys there. They haven’t bred every year but they have bred successfully most years which is fantastic. There’s actually plenty of cool bird species up there. Short eared owls , hen harriers, peregrines and there was even a goshawk caught on camera however it had jesses on its legs so it’s obviously an escapee falconry bird (falconers always make sure you use telemetry) but still its there. If theres another goshawk of the opposite sex there or passing through you never know.
    Loch Lomond has all sorts of awesome nature. I need to get back over there.

      Thats cool. Its not even that far from me.
      I hope you get some cool footage of the ospreys .
      If you don’t already have one you should get a long distance scope for watching stuff at a bit of a distance. You’ll be able to get good footage of stuff like the ospreys nest without getting to close and getting on their t#ts. My old man has one and you should see the quality of the footage . Its like something you would see on a nature show on tv and his still pics look like something you would see in a nature magazine. You can get good ones for pretty cheap too. Theres loads of second hand scopes on ebay.

    Greetings from South East Australia,the vegetation is very similar to their natural habitat.grass cover,ferns and herbs.unfortunately this species can breed very quickly and could do damage to your native ecology. Cool all the same 🤘

    • @WildlifeWithCookie
      @WildlifeWithCookie  Год назад +5

      Not sure they will or is any evidence of them doing that over here, they've been there 80 years or more and as you can see the Island looks good. The Island also has Fallow Deer which are non-native and absolutely destroy wherever they go which definitely could be a problem

    Went up here working on a documentary about these last month, so was super interesting to watch this, glad you found the osprey nest too! I noticed the marking on the neck of the wallaby at 10:16, makes it easily identifiable and seems to be the tamest one which is interesting. Just make sure you check for ticks/ Lyme symptoms after visiting cos there's an insane amount of nymphs on that island. Gained a subscriber anyway, nice content dude :)

    I really hope they don’t get eradicated they deserve the whole island for themselves but the sad thing is there won’t be much issue with them doing it because of the non native aspect but they aren’t doing any harm on an island that is uninhabited so it’s up to us as good people to help defend them of needless execution the more people are on board to help the more of a chance we have

    What!!!! I can’t believe they would do that what pigs of people if the Scottish government allow this to happen they are just as bad money, money, money just leave these beautiful animals alone and there habitat we live in the highlands and it seems that a lot of this sort of thing goes on I would rather cull the people that own the island than the animals what horrible human beings to even consider this makes me so angry.

      Aldochlay, just south of Luss. There’s a lay-by where you can park at. It’s a little inlet where people keep their boats. We found it by accident after going to Luss and realising everywhere charges stupid amount for parking
