- I'd heard about the Eucumbene river for years, but had always been too scared to try fishing it. While there are certainly parts of the river that are quiet, we opted to meet up with our good friend Josh, who'd fished the river for years and always seemed to come home with good stories.

WOW!!! Pretty cool. I'm such a silly American. When I think Australia, I NEVER THINK SNOW!!! LOL! New Zealand, yes. But Australia???....ok. I get it.
Great content! It reminds me the end of the season is coming fast.
My favorite of all your vlogs
Cool video and some great fish April 👍🏻
Nice fish April! I think you would enjoy the Eucumbene in the warmer months also, it's a fabulous river outside of spawning season too. The Snowy Mountains in general has some really good trout fishing right through the season. :)
Great video April! Your daughter is so adorable. ❤
Thanks Christelle! Great to hear from you!
Really cool video! ... Definitely not in Kansas anymore, but really neat to see that landscape and fishery on the other side of the planet!
Used to always fish there at night. Get’s a bit chilly but, no crowds and MUCH bigger fish. Wet flies and intermediate line
If you want something closer to your Sydney home there is a spawn run on the Coxs river in the Blue Mountains ...takes a bit of a hike to get in but defintley not as busy...the Kowmung river is a nice trip into the blue mountains as well.
As far as fish stocking in Eucumbene, fisheries only stock Rainbows not Browns. So the population of brown trout have steadily declined to what we have today simply caused by fishing pressure. Compared to the numbers of thirty years ago the run is minuscule due to current fisheries policies.. The spawning fish depend on a couple of things ie: water flow and temperature. If there is enough flow and its cold enough they will spawn a lot earlier than stated here. Hence the argument for an earlier closure to the river.
There is a book by Peter Leuver titled “Fur and Feather “ and is mostly dedicated to the Snowy Mountains/NSW.
If you get hold of a copy I am sure you will really enjoy it.
The rainbows aren't spawning. Their there to eat the browns eggs
Years ago in summer that entire area you are fishing would be under water. In winter it all be mud flats with the river flowing through the middle.
👍👍👍✌
Grew up fishing lake Eucumbene then moved to Canada and fish the vedder- you hit both my homes in this one with that comment 😂
Same as me, living in Harrison

Is it always crowded like that?
The end of season spawn run is crazy but at other times it’s much less crowded.
