Great video mate. And some impressive hook-ups on subtle takes. Lots of people are saying the spawn run isn't worth it this year with the low water, but you are proving them wrong!

The videos that I have uploaded so far are from my productive days - fish count tanks from about now!

I have found that Australians do not get stream etiquette. I was very impressed in NZ by the very deliberate and measured etiquette. One cast, one pace upstream. I wish we could do better. Gang Gang is amazing - I walked it one year without a rod but with a waterproof camera. Amazing number and variety of fish. Great video.

Watching this ….Having lived in NZ and fished the Tongi during a run or two…have to agree. You just come in behind and give the fishermen above you space. You ask and acknowledge. It’s tough when one fishermen is on the swing but it is what it is. They do have signs and info pamphlets on stream etiquette…plus educational videos. Similar for the spawn/run at Rotorua.

I debated whether or not to include the footage of the High-Holing - as you will seem from my future videos, I was hogging that particular run - which is my bad - but I would expect somebody to ask if they can fish 20 meters upstream of me at the head of the pool - if they had asked, then I would no choice but to that ‘sure’…

@@robertlouis24 I think including the footage was fine. It’s part of the spawn run experience on the euc. Creates awareness. You didn’t knock the guys that do it, which I think is a great example. Besides, you can almost understand it…they’ve got that “big fish fever”, like all of us you make great efforts to get there and in that weird rush forget manners!

They don’t call it contact nymphing for nothing do they. Handled it like I true gentleman LG. I would have had a dummy spit!!!
Great fishing too. I’d love to give the TT 1102 a trial in those waters! Your dead drifters were mint 💪👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Thank you Anthony - my biggest supporter - I was impressed by how visible the Sunline monofilament was on the video…

Love watching the vids and if I can be so bold, would recommend that your next gadget purchase is a fluffy microphone cover to cull the wind noise and there might be a setting on the video device that disables the button pressing sound effect. Keep up the good work.

You have motivated me to get a dead cat for my DJI OSMO Action 4 - I have been considering making that investment - thanks for the nudge - and I will cut-out the “Pre-Record” sound - I have removed the sound on videos in the past, but have been lazy lately…

Nice video again! I was interested to see you use Antony's T&T 3wt rod. I know you can't really do a separate video for this but I would love to know how the T&T compared to your wife's Primal Zen. Is it worth the additional 600 dollars?

    • @robertlouis24
      @robertlouis24  2 месяца назад +1

I have just checked the price of a T&T Contact II in Australia, and it is $1600 - the Primal Zen at Aussie Angler is $250 - I meant what I said when I fished the Primal Zen on the Coxs River - I loved the rod - I actually prefer it to my Hanak Superb 10’ 3” 3wt - with the added advantage that replacement tips are quick to obtain for all Primal rods, and cost around A$60 - my R.L. Winston Super 10’ is still in the US after I snapped the tip on the Murray (Indi) river in January this year (so, I have been without my rod for over 5 months) - there is no doubt about it, the Primal Zen is gold for its price - and the delta is closer to $1350 - if you remove the snob factor of wanting to fish with a US made rod, then the Primal Zen makes sense on all levels…

Robert, I snapped the tip off my Sage rod on a beast of a fish at Thomason’s Creek Dam, the Sage USA had the rod for 11 months. Lots of rods on the market, strongly suggest steer away from USA (potentially repaired rods)

Bad manners abound, Robert. As well as being annoying, it really is sad to see. If one was to call them out on it, they will often become aggressive. Some parents have a lot for which to answer. As a community we've regressed significantly in our standards.

WTF PART THREE ???????? Mate so sorry for the guys hiballing you. Personally i dont think they understand the etiquette thing. I went there for the first time on anzac day weekend just too have a look and me and mrs threw some lures *before i got waders and a fly rod.) All im saying is that alot of people fishing this time of year dont understand what you were trying too do. AND HURRAH FOR STONES

This time of year multiple people can fish the same run. Have fun catch fish make new friends. I personally encourage people to come fish with me especially if it's one of the "honey" holes

Hmmmm, what shame your trip was spoiled by selfish people.

Far from it, my trip was not ruined - I met the most wonderful folk on the river banks again this year, as I did last year - I spent many wonderful nights around the fire with Jason Cook (and he gifted me 10 custom tied flies that I managed to catch 2 trout with), I spent also spent a couple night around the fire with Rudi Makek, who I hope to I fish with again some day - Rudi and I fished in the snow together, and then had coffee to warm up in Dr Phil and had a fat chat - and I had a chance to fish with Ant again, and meet Rowland - the incidents on the river - if you can even call them incidents - were 0.1% of my trip…
