Mazda knows design, no way around it. I'm not crazy about the fake vents at the back and the big plastic flares but I like the rest. I have like boxy cars and SUVs. It's amazing how Mazda puts out premium cars at a modest price point. They're probably overdue for a few more gears in their transmissions but we should be happy they've resisted the CVT dark side. The LED turn signal fade out is cool and retro. What's old is new again.
Also the screen actually will accept touch functions when using android auto and Apple CarPlay only. But as everyone has stated about their complaints with modern Mazda‘s they should just make the whole thing touchscreen and move the screen forward👌💯
@@ShootingCars yeah I believe that it is new for the CX-50, I have seen other reviews where they test it, and here is a quote from Forbes wheels “The Mazda system, including the horizontal position of the screen set deep in the dash, is less distracting once a driver gets some experience with it. The CX-50 also has a fallback. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will work with either touch or knob commands. But some drivers will have trouble reaching the screen” Super weird decision though LMAO
Oh and it's only when the car is in park. But considering it is a touchscreen, I would assume and hope there will be aftermarket hacks to make the test screen usable in all situations
You’re reviews are awesome man! Seems to just come natural to you. Love Mazda as a brand and love the looks of this new CX-50. I don’t know if I would spend the extra $$ over a CX5 though as both are great looking vehicles and have the same drivetrains
Here’s what I don’t understand about this vehicle: It’s on an existing platform; it has a less sophisticated rear suspension than the CX-5; the quality of the materials, especially in the second row, do not match the CX-5’s; it’s not as quiet as the CX-5, based on several reviews. Why, then, is it so expensive?
I love the wheels on this trim, but I hate the excessive black plastic wheel arches over the wheels. I wish there was an option to get the black plastic pieces painted in body color bc I think that would help make it look more premium
Excellent review. New subscriber. A lot of bang for your buck with a high level of reliability. Question, is it worth waiting for the cx50 ev? Does the 360 camera record?
With your degree and explaining the meaning of the 2 cars I complete agree as you said the cx50 looks more masculine which makes sense its a more rugged and off road capable cx5. Good job on explaining the difference in looks in a technical way
Small world, im from Chicagoland area too!! I was thinking about possibly getting the Mazda CX5 in the future when I can afford it. It's the perfect in-between premium brand, nothing too fancy or flashy as a Lexus, Cadillac, Mercedes, but not as basic as a Chevy, Toyota, Ford. Mazda is the in-between premium brand!
Really pretty! Not overstyled or too boring. Just enough to be interesting but not like a Lexus where it's more grill than car. I also love that color too!
They did an amazing job with the CX 50. And finally a panoramic roof in a Mazda which makes it more competitive, and just opens up the cabin. This would be my top choice if I was searching for compact SUVs. Of course you could compare it to an Audi Q3, or a BMW X1 but they are going to be much smaller and not have nearly the amount of features for the price of this top model. It is unfortunate that they couldn’t use Toyotas eight speed automatic and they are sticking with the six speed which of course is proven to be reliable, and this does get better fuel comment than the CX5 but an eight speed auto would make it even better and I assume they will put one in in the next couple years👌💯
I think it's too many, but what Mazda has done in the past is offer lots of trims the first year, then slowly take away the last popular ones. I imagine this will be the case with the CX-50 as well.
It's a crossover that really looks different, takes some station wagon influence imo. I'm so tired of crossovers looking the exact same! The upcoming Honda HRV and new Corolla Cross for example. Boring!!
Please refrain from using "BUT" in your sentence structures. Your use of "BUT" is negating everything you say B4 it. Your "BUT'S" become disturbing used so frequently in your dialogue. Please stop touching gauge clusters with your fingers. You will scratch the anti glare coating on the delicate plastic. This goes for most vehicles since the 60's.
I purchased a cx-50 today and it truly is “fantastic”.

Interesting, this is not the case with any other mazda to my knowledge!

Honestly, it's a great looking car. Love the aggressive look of it, and the black plastic doesn't look half bad with the paint color.

Dude, last 5 minutes are gold (the masculine and feminine part). Well done. Showed my coworkers what passion looks like, this guy is it.
Great review....normally I roll my eyes at 18 min reviews, but you had great pacing with little filler or gimmicks.
Great video! Congrats on the degree! Liked and subscribed.

Unfortunately we couldn’t get Terracotta on Polymetal here in Canada, but damn does that interior look great!

11:02 doesn't seem like there much headspace in the backseats with the panoramic sunroof.

The CX-50 does have a touchscreen for CarPlay & Android Auto
As somone who owns a CX5, you are completely wrong about the rear doors not opening 90° as they most certainly do!
Great review as always. Love the paint color
Sweet looking ride and great video.
So when the new electric car with the rotary range extender can you please do a review on that I want to know what the rotary is like
Another good video; thank you.
Great bro!
Zack congrats on the B.A. from Aurora University

Those brown leather seats are so beautiful
Dark Brown leather interiors will never not look amazing
I didn’t realize this but the CX-5 actually has more total cargo room than this (with 2nd row seats folded down)
Hmmm… interesting
Like the car but was it necessary to have that many trims
I think it's too many, but what Mazda has done in the past is offer lots of trims the first year, then slowly take away the last popular ones. I imagine this will be the case with the CX-50 as well.
Cool!
The screen is touch but only for Car Play
And Android auto. Nice try.
I wanna swap this motor into my ND.
The spiritual successor to the CX-7
That should ve the upcoming CX-70.
Being built in America is a big reason why I WONT buy this car.
Very pretty design inside and will age well

I know, I am unfortunately disappointed by Honda’s latest products. Mazda and Toyota have been killing it
Inline 4 to move all that bulk? They should’ve at least gone with a TT V6, everything by Mazda is 4-cylinder and underpowered ontop of it lmao
You dont know what you are talking about.
