- Ok, it's sort of a review. I was very unprepared.

"it really clunks into gear, that's just strange"
Not really. Pretty much a trademark of Harley transmissions.
When he said "it feels like I should be open carrying a 1911 and listening to five finger death punch" that is the most accurate description of this bike ever. I just test drove one and am going to pick it up next week. I just loved that badass feeling. I think I'm even going to make it into a bobber
Brandon Pope yeah I really liked the bike for blasting around town and that sort of thing. A bobber would be sweet.
Guy really don't seem to be too knowledgeable on motorcycles at all
Yea, sounds like you don't have a much experience with a lot of rides. If the only thing you can come up with is it seems weird, ya might not be ready for serious reviews. 883 is not meant to be a sportbike.
This to me is the best looking Bike in the World...That's just my personal opinion..
Totally agree and I don't even ride motorcycles. I've just always loved that vintage cruiser styling on modern bikes.
absolutely agree, beautiful bike!
I agree. Mine identical!!!!!!
You act like you've only ridden one motorcycle in your life, and now that you're trying another bike that isn't identical everything is "so weird" and "doesn't make sense". As a moto vlogger I'd expect you would have considerably more experience with a variety of bikes--makes and models--and would not be thrown by different placement of the start switch, foot pegs, turn signals, etc. Incredibly unhelpful review of this bike--like having a 7-year-old review a contraceptive.
Glad we can trust your opinion considering you couldn't figure out to start it.
Bob Davis lmao
I remember the first time I ever rode a motorcycle.
In order to actually get the H-D experience, you have to install aftermarket pipes. Harleys, even the 883, make a beautiful sound, but you can't hear it through the EPA exhaust. I can't hear it at all in the video. And you can't get that sound with any other bike. I pulled up next to a fairly new Polaris Indian Chief a few days ago. I didn't hear anything. I put the window down. Could still barely hear it, but enough to tell it did not have the offbeat idle like a Harley. The light changed and we took off. The sound got louder, but not loud enough, but that was not the real problem. You can make any bike loud, but you can't duplicate that POTATO POTATO POTATO sound of a Harley. That is one of the main reasons people buy Harleys in the first place. I have an '06 883 Sportster I bought used, but in nearly new condition. Still had the stock pipes on it. It was a very boring ride home. I parked it, went inside, went to the computer, and ordered a set of V&H pipes for it. WOW!! What a difference!! It sounded like a top fuel dragster. Fortunately my '06 is carbed, so I didn't have to spend $500 on electronics to richen up the air/fuel mixture, just replace a couple of $5 jets. Now it is an absolute blast to ride. I wouldn't want to ride it cross country, I'm 6'1" 240, and it's a bit too small for me to really be comfortable on. But grabbing a handfull of throttle and listening to that beautiful music never gets old. I've sold 2 of my other bikes, and ride the Sportster most of the time. Those pipes made ALL the difference.
I always chuckle when I hear people complain about wind on a bike with no screen doing 80 mph.
to flip throttle like that on a v twin and expect it rev like a 2 stroke is a big ask.
he's 1st tampon review will most probably be similar...
Lmao🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🙂🤣 I’m weak
throttle isnt electronic, but it is really smooth/light
I'm looking into getting a used 883 for my first bike and in a year or so when I want more bike getting the 1200 conversion.
Honor of Týr same here lol
@vtoomtastic trip Meter? Gas gauge? Low fuel light? How many gears?
What is the camera you use for this video mate?
So I live in Central Florida..doing some research on the 883 iron...I find it odd the first 'review' i come to is out of Wytheville VA...so close to to my BFE hometown of Galax VA...small world...
i just love that sound of the engine
I bought a Harley Sportster 48 1200 and I love it for my first bike.
My local Indian dealer has a used 48 1200 in stock. That thing looks sweeeet
+Vroomtastic sweet
Yes I just got one it's comfortable don't get me wrong but it is wired and yes the throttle lol , different
im use crotch rockets and your really hittin that throttle hard. is that just the way you drive? cuz on my suzuki gsxr i barely hit any throttle an that bby goes
Can this be a beginners bike?
got a 48, once you go stage one with some pipes you'r good!!
Getting mine put on my 883 now.
Aya can u get away from cops on that bike effectively?
holy shit when he commented on the 1911 i already had my springfield champion operator conceal carry and when he said five finger deathpunch i thought "hey, Jekyll and Hyde"
+Mr Potat0man451 I'm in ya brain, man.
How is that the roaring of the motor isnt loud at all during the ride?
The stock exhaust is very, very quiet.
Vroomtastic i see :) you know, i wasn't following the harleys from a loong time, the last ones i've heard their roar were the fatboys lol
What did they say about you scraping the foot peg? Wondering if they charged you for it.
haha no they didn't. They have peg feelers on the bottom of the pegs, anyway.
ok, I was wondering, because I would think that they would do a complete check on everything when someone brings one back.
hi...im 6foot tall..is this bike suites me? need your advise before i decide...
Gonna be tight for that height.
I need some tips on my first bike. Should I get this iron? I still do kinda want something with a little more grunt and pep for under 10k. I have some experience riding so I don't need a slow ass bike to start but nothing ridiculous either. Is this good or should I get something with a 1200cc?
I have a 883 its a 96 and its got tons of power I do have a hyper charger and some VnH pipes .the issue with a sporty is the gas tank being so small but you can change that to a bigger one thats what I did also there are lots of parts to upgrade this bike . good luck picking a bike
thank you for the comment. Should I consider the yamaha bolt?
+Ramy Warda I'd look at the Indian Scout Sixty and Star/Yamaha Bolt. They'd both be a better option in the price range in my opinion.
+Vroomtastic thank you!
I seen the bolt its a nice bike and I herd there are lots of upgrades for that bike it would be a nice bike but its all up to you choose a bike that's going to serve your riding style .
I don't get the US way of selling things. It's mid 2015... and you call it a 2016??
It's a marketing thing. Forcing the idea of a new year on your mind.
You're pretty ignorant if you think this is just a U.S. thing
would this be a great starter bike?
Yes definitely!
You might feel more comfortable on a Vespa dude lol
I love this bike❤❤
Can anyone help me out..I'm pretty new to checking this bike out. I've been wondering what that silver button pocket area is beside the seat on the bikes right side. It would be a big help thanks so much.
NyCe TM I believe it is the oil tank cap. Hope that helps.
It helps big time! Thanks so much for your reply Vroomtastic!
NyCe TM Absolutely!
It all comes down to what the rider wants from a bike. Not everyone is looking for speed, that's a one-sided argument!
Love mine. Don't care about speed anymore.
How tall are you and how does it feel for your height
I'm 6'3" and it fit me reasonably well from what I remember. A bit cramped, but not uncomfortably so. Might be more of an issue on longer trips, though. I only rode it about 45 minutes.
I'm only 5'5' is this a good bike for my height?
yea it would work, you should be able to flat foot.
Yes you would flat foot it easy on this bike the seat height is 28.9 inches
What kind of Helmet do you use?
Hey sorry I just saw this. I usually wear a GMax GM11D
thanks homie
Anybody 5’4 that owns this bike please let me know your experience with it
I want thiss!....
Wasted miles on a test drive.
@Vroomtastic Is this a good bike for a beginner?? And I mean, a person that has not ever ridden a bike before.
On specs alone, yes. It isn't very powerful and has a low seat height that desirable to new motorcyclists. However, the price kills its beginner qualities for me, as it costs about twice as much as a first bike should even if buying new.
Thank you.
any alternate suggestions?
stufoo ktm rc 390 then the 48
Good video man,I like the looks of that bike,I was expecting it to have more hp too..I recognized so many places where you were riding.Definetly gotta hook up & go riding next riding seasonl Good stuff man, later
+chico suave How am I just now seeing this? haha
no worries man.
I fucking love 5fdp
Then this video is for you! They do some awesome stuff for veterans.
2016 bike, 016 audio
Good review though man you have potential
Haha oh I know. I just good a new camera/audio setup and I'm still figuring out the audio settings. Thanks, though!
Just got, rather.
I love those little sportys
+PAYDAYSWAGGER I was not a fan haha
2:55 "How fast is it?" Goes WOT, can't gain on an SUV. "Not very!" LMFAO
if you can't get your bike in neutral then u don't need to be on it
anyone else see how cheap that gas station was?
My ninja zx6r is twice a quick lol
My first bike was a 1966 honda 160 and it would go about 70 mph. The sportster would have been a monster back then. Now they are a girls bike.
I'd prefer the 160, honestly. Small light bikes are big fun. Heavy bikes with small bike power, not so much.
+mike churchwell I hear people say they are girly bikes, but then some old timers talk about how much harder a sportster is to ride than some of its' softer, springier brothers.
+David Huffman Yes you are right. I think the sportster is somewhat harder to ride than a big bike as far as balance and smoothness. I think they are considered girls bikes cause they are lighter and sexier than a big bike and shorter riders can reach the controls better. I was inferring that they would be a large bike back in the day.
It's not a girls bike is too heavy
Well the fix to your problem with your ankle hitting the peg wouldn't hurt if you had boots or a shoe that fit over the ankle.
+Dale Buettner I got all my gear also buying that bike with V&H short stack exhaust, V&H Grenade Air Filter, and the 1200 conversation kit so it'll be pretty bad a** after that. Also the color will be the Olive Gold!
+Dale Buettner I was headed to work immediately afterward and had on 8" duty boots. Safe to say my ankle was covered haha
+Vroomtastic Well I stand corrected then. I hope I don't bash my ankle then. I got some riding boots. I got all the gear going to get the bike here shortly. I'm getting rather excited. Enjoyed the video though! Thank you!!
"it doesn't sound like much"
Kinda sounds like chase at first
I think the 883 is a really nice looking bike, unfortunately thats as far as it goes. I watch you getting up to traffic speed, youre going to WOT every time and it just seems to creep up to speed. The sound, to me, is so reminiscent of a Honda Trail 90.. that, along with the anemic performance, just goes to reinforce what Ive said for years. I'm just not a Harley guy. That being said.. You did a great vid, it did exactly was it was meant to do. Being so informed.. maybe next time you'll check out a mid weight Jap cruiser. Thanks again!
Yea I love the look of it as well, but I'm like you. I don't care much for Harleys. I don't want to go as far as to say they are overrated, but let's just say there are about half a dozen bike companies I'd go to before looking at a Harley.
what you be a good first bike?
Yep. Looks great and that's all. Got a ride of an Indian Scout Sixty coming up in a few weeks to compare the two American cruisers that are slotted against each other.
thealize808 ktm rc390
Have you had a chance to ride the Indian Scout Sixty and if you have tried it out, How was it???
OMG. do you even know where to re fuel it pmsl
It's so quiet!
Well...i had briefly considered an 883...but after seeing this video, i think i am going to pass. That turn where you scraped the peg didnt seem all that sharp. What a major turn off. I had an 1100 shadow with a center stand and i only ever scraped ONCE and that was with a fairly heavy passenger.I believe i will be sticking with my original choice, the honda shadow phantom for several reasons.
To be fair, it does have VERY long feelers on the pegs, but I don't disagree with you. It's not for me. You might also be interested in the Indian Scout Sixty that was just announced. That would be my personal choice in this market segment.
For an indian, i have been drooling over the dark horse model.
But i could buy two shadows for that and then some.
I do like the upgrades on the 883, the new look...but come on...they cant squeeze out a bit more top end on it? Id rather the 750 liquid cooled at that point because i think you get better performance over it's air cooled rival. Just my thoughts.
You actually get more power in a cheaper bike that weighs less with the Street 750 haha
Yeah, i saw that harley came out with a 750, however it just doesnt do it for me. It sounds funny (to me), and i could still get a shadow phantom for a bit less, not have to worry about belt care, and i cant remember if the harley gas a bigger gas tank or not...
Figure i will just go honda. I dig the shaft drive.
The 750 is TINY too. My knees are probably 3 inches above the tank when I sit on the thing.
Nice looking bike, but, should have gone with an XL1200 SPORTSTER........not that much more and you'll have all the power you could want......
+tomcata1467 I didn't buy the bike, just riding it for a review
nice super bikes
thanks for the honest review. i'll subscribe, cause you have potential. hopefully one day when you're youtube famous, you will give me a shoutout. good luck!!
Hey thanks! Anything for a pokemon master!
Sportsters are pretty much potato potato potato. My first street bike was an 88 883. They're not bad for an around town cruiser, but they're heavy as shit, don't handle all that great, and they're way overpriced compared to the Japanese equivalents. Throttle response would probably be helped by a Screamin' Eagle kit and other expensive upgrades. Most of the engine is heavy as hell and the flywheel is a pig, so you're never going to be revving super fast.
So basically, you had a 2016 883 as your first bike haha. I'd spend the extra thousand bucks or so on an Indian Scout (which I might also be reviewing) if I was someone in the cruiser market. Just sitting on one the day after I rode this, I could tell it was an infinitely better bike... that also has more that twice the power.
Vroomtastic
Nah I'd avoid Indian simply because they're gigantic and heavy. If I was hardcore into the cruiser thing I'd save a bunch of money by going Triumph and bob the hell out of a used Triumph Bonneville or Speedmaster.
+MotoErgoSum oh yeah definitely. I should've said if I was in the market for an American cruiser haha. I'd love to have a Bonneville, actually.
best deerim may laif
Wow. That sound is a huge turnoff. Sounds like a 250 lol
+Kurisu Kun You have to change exhaust line on most of the new electronic motos nowadays. Advice from a Harley coinnoisseur.
+Loann Le Ny I just bought mine 3/26/16 and won't get it til mid April. I got some upgrades including exhaust from V&H! I'm super excited my first bike 2016 HD Iron 883!
Maybe because his audio quality is shit?
Ok no speaker sounds like real life just keep scrolling and troll somewhere else I'm not in the mood to here cap come out your mouth. It's my opinion and leave me alone.
+Dale Buettner wtf are you even talking about? I wasn't even replying to you
I can only get mine to go 100 mph hahahaah it's a slow bike for sure
Haha I eventually hit 95 or so, but it took a while.
+NINJA NERO NINJA :oooo make more iron videos bight rides live with more SOA songs :P love the mods
+NINJA NERO 1200 kit :)
... A successful annoying review... Should probably start reviewing bicycles. Not only do you sound biased.. You sound like you have never driven a Harley
This guy needs a suzuki
Uhhhh.... this guy has a Suzuki.
exactly
It looks really slow.
but your ass?
my ass would be really slow on that bike
You are obviously not a Sportster rider. LOL
Looks slower than a 300cc sportbike lol 😅
fucking sound
Yeah I was still working it out with my new camera/audio setup. Not good at all.
ehhh. Harley has become a status symbol now. you can get a bmw bike for cheaper then a full dresser
+Mr. Random Oh yeah for sure. I'm not a fan at all. Their new stuff that they're coming out with actually seems like it could be competitive, though. The Street 750 (which I might also review) is lighter, liquid cooled, more powerful, and cheaper than the 883.
+Vroomtastic ya I've seen that. it's causing a poo storm in the harley world because its built in Indonesian. I heard its ride is very simular to a shadow maybe be a bit slower.
That's about what I heard too. One blew ny me today while I was filling up. Definitely sounds better than a Shadow haha. If only those people knew pretty much everything for their bikes is built overseas and then just assembled here.
+Mr. Random They'd die because they think anything under 1200cc is tiny and they'd expect an FZ-09 to have as much power as an 883 haha
+Vroomtastic haha nor will they know the pure awesomeness of ridding where you like. or pure power of a grom
Rubbish vague negative review
Dude, ITS A GIRLS BIKE..!!!!!!
