The irony is that John Leguizamo - the short guy on the far right - is portraying a real person, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. The original Moulin Rouge was a bio-pic of Lautrec, looking at his life and art, and centred around the iconic revue. And yes, Lautrec was that short... he had problems with his legs, which didn't grow properly, leaving him with abnormally short legs and need a cane to walk.
