Love how everyone is amazed by Ewan McGregor singing (and it's amazing I agree), but no one realize that Faramir (David Wenham) is just there, dressed as a woman...
I will never forget the way my 4-year-old sister was distracted on the couch as I despaired of her ever liking this gem, only for Christian to come in with that clutch note that caused her to stare right at the screen and give just the tiniest, softest, “Wow....” Now she’s 13 and singing in her middle school choir and she loves musicals.
The absolute frantic state of that room being portrayed by the overlapping voices and rapid camera shots so even we the audience couldn't keep up is so well done. The audience is usually disconnected from the events being viewed even if they're emotionally invested in the characters but the way this scene was pieced together was meant to bring the audience into that chaos (similar to how "one shot" films draw the audience into the events happening), meant to make the audience desperately want everyone in that room to shut up, so when Christian started singing, the relief of the silence enhanced the impact of Christian singing and made it breath taking.
Lol imagine that getting out of the river scene tho hahaha with the whole "no captain" and then cap just goes "that's enough captain!" Lol hahaha the reactions tho hahaha
I love the way Ewan is framed when he starts singing. It looks like something straight out of a 50s/60s musical (which is probably the whole point but still it’s such a cool shot)
Oh... OH MY GOD. How did I never realize that Audrey is played by David Wenham?! Oh, David... you just stole another part of my heart. xD ♥ BUT WOAH. Hearing Ewan's voice just belt out from that chaos just made me have a heart-attack! I know what love at first sight is now... ♥♥♥
The Musicalman24601 sorry sir, but this movie is an EXCELLENT example of stylistic BEAUTY. The acting is over dramatic to reflect the acting styles of many plays during the time period. The only issue I have with the film is the non period accurate costumes but AGAIN stylistic choices from Baz Lurhman a god of visual and auditory appeal in movies. (Please don’t eat me alive I’m just being a shitty lil pretentious film nerd) thankee
Am I the only one that finds it weird to watch something like Long Way Round then come watch this? He looks so young here!!! Ohhh Ewan, I will always love you... You are just too freakin HAWT!!!
omgad thank you so much for putting this online i just started getting into moulin rouge and i seriously play ewan's singing part at least 10 times per day xD
This movie is an absolute acid trip and I adore it.
I made my brother watch clips of this movie while he was tripping on shrooms and he would agree
Harmless-Nightshade i watched this movie for the first time whilst on acid and it was fucking crazy
This is THE BEST MOVIE
True and same
The camera tilts make this movie too lol
Whatever your thoughts are on this film ya gotta admit that Ewan can sing.
Ewen McGregor is an absolute talent. There's nothing he can't do.
He's a lead vocalist of soul asylum
he CAN but damn that fucking editing on his voice, i just can’t stand it
"Hes got a huge talent!"
Dang,General Kenobi did good!
Moulin Rouge made me fall in love with Ewan McGregor
now watch trainspotting..
Me with Nicole Kidman
Same
0:48 wish he sang the whole song, can't stop replaying it
Literally me 205th time replaying it xD
He's handsome yes. But his voice was the thing that made me fall in love
Me too! Instantly.
Love how everyone is amazed by Ewan McGregor singing (and it's amazing I agree), but no one realize that Faramir (David Wenham) is just there, dressed as a woman...
What??!! I had no idea all these years!! :o
No! I gotta look it up now!
Yes! I wish Audrey was in the rest of the film!
Omg
For some reason, I read 'Faramir' as 'Farquaad', and I still thought it fit. *cries*

The first time I watched this my mouth literally dropped open and my heart melted. Ever since I've been in love with Ewan McGregor...
His voice is amazing 😍

The little smile he does at 1:25 literally melts my heart
He sings like a freaking angel.
If they make a gender-bent version of the “Sound of Music”, Ewan should play Maria.
Yes please!
Brilliant! I agree!
Lol imagine that getting out of the river scene tho hahaha with the whole "no captain" and then cap just goes "that's enough captain!" Lol hahaha the reactions tho hahaha
I mean, he looked good as a priest in “Angels and Demons”. Might as well have him in a habit or cassock?
if you look closely, you can see the _exact moment_ that i fell forever in love with this movie. somewhere around 0:49, i believe...
I love the way Ewan is framed when he starts singing. It looks like something straight out of a 50s/60s musical (which is probably the whole point but still it’s such a cool shot)
I love what he does with the, "alive," part. Mmmm, Ewan.
who knew young Obi Wan can sing
Well, the force really is strong with that one :)
Who knew Faramir was so fussy about music
:D hahahaha i forgot Faramir was in this. I got superlong laugh a moment ago because i saw him.
wtf thats faramir??
Mishell - Yep. Obi wan and faramir. :D i sense a crossover
I love his voice I wish he made a full version of every song in Moulin Rouge
Ewan McGregor’s voice is dreamy
Gahhhhh I'm in love with Ewan Mcgregor😍😍😍😖
Obi wan uses the force by singing 😂👌🏼❤️
So this is where Obi Wan hid himself after the Revenge of the Sith ... That good voiced singing Jedi bastard.. lol
I cant believe Audrey was Faramir a couple of years later.....!!! i just discovered that
So did Obi Wan Kenobi skip his Jedi Training to go to music class cause he has a beautiful singing voice.
Kali Kugelman I now demand an Obi Wan musical. Which really should be right up Disney’s alley.
Obi Wan Karaoke
OMG. Never saw Star Wars. Everyone is talking about Obi Wan Kenobi , even on the documentary Long Way Up. Shame on me !
Turns out that music class paid off. He has the high ground. The hills are high ground
Qui Gon: Hey what are you doing skipping out of Jedi Training!?
Faramir! I adore him and and I wish his character, Audrey, had a bigger part in this film!
those eyes and voice are going to melt me.
Audrey. Was in for only a moment but what an iconic moment!!!
I just love the way he sang this song. Love him
Obi-Wan never told you, He can sing!
Gosh, so many years later and Ewan here is still so damn swoon-worthy!

Obi Wan Kenobi, the singing Jedi
Oh... OH MY GOD. How did I never realize that Audrey is played by David Wenham?! Oh, David... you just stole another part of my heart. xD ♥
BUT WOAH. Hearing Ewan's voice just belt out from that chaos just made me have a heart-attack! I know what love at first sight is now... ♥♥♥
I think my heart just melted.
i love his voice! its beautiful!!!!!!!!
masterpiece of a movie
Come again??? it's so sloppily edited and sometimes the acting is overacted a lot of the time.
@@thatoneguy9399 sloppily edited! Not every movie has the budget for perfect refinement. No appreciation
Evan Nesbitt I would agree with you, if the editing wasn’t fantastic in places like “tango de Roxanne” or the love medley.

@@thatoneguy9399 it's not sloppily edited lol it's purposely done the way it was done. It's a piece of art you don't come across everyday.
Gotta love his media range, serious and insane characters. XD
And he has a very charismatic voice.
1:22 It's over Anakin! I have the high ground!
Love Ewan's performance in this movie, this film is such a fun movie to watch!
This is the first time we hear him sing...I was gonna turn the movie off, then I heard him, and I melted. I fell in love with his voice!

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Satine always seems to share a tragic ending...
Who knew a Jedi could sing
I was today years old when I found out the incredible actor who played Faramir in the LOTR also plays Audrey here-

Am I the only one that finds it weird to watch something like Long Way Round then come watch this?

"The hiiiiillls are aliiiiive with the sound of mucus!" - Jimmy Kimmel
Pick up that can, I thought that was Christopher Plummer
Don’t bring him here. He’s very boring.
@@utahdan231 That was back in the day when he was kinda funny.
Just love the movie
I wish we had a complete version
I think it's about time for a re-watch
one of, if not the best, part of the movie.
It’s now my ringtone
The way Ewan sang it and how he looked while singing it was just fucking hilarious.
