Moulin Rouge’s Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman’s RARE INTERVIEWS on Set in 2001

Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor chatted with ET on set of 2001’s iconic musical ‘Moulin Rouge!’ In rare behind-the-scenes interviews, they couldn’t contain their excitement about working on Baz Luhrman’s bohemian love story. McGregor joked about the ‘slight height difference’ with his romantic co-lead. Kidman called the movie ‘a celebration of love,’ which she admitted was ‘very corny.’ Both actors performed their own singing for the movie’s soundtrack, which featured original songs like ‘Come What May,’ as well as remixes of classic pop hits like ‘El Tango de Roxanne.’ The intense dance scenes, such as ‘Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend,’ caused Kidman to break a rib while filming. She said, ‘I didn't realize I had broken it for five days’ and that she kept on dancing that entire time!

Both Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor were wonderfully paired in this film! I love this movie for its adventurous, expansive approach to the musical paridigm. By the way, I didn't know that Kidman has such a lovely voice (or Ewan as well!). They sang so beautifully together and I "believed" their love story. They were at their peak during the making of this movie. A really special film!
