I remember i was a military soldier at the age of 19 and spent an hour trying to explain my mother how to get the game to download on my ps3 over a pay phone in HQ so I can play it when I go for my leave the week after. Kudos to her she managed to do it eventually, god rest her soul .

Lol, that was the exact reason i never bought/played GTA 5, ever! I didn't like that 2013 Los Angeles atmosphere they went with, it just makes me think of stupid prank videos that was populare at the time! I always preferred The atmosphere in GTA 4!

I like Trevor the most only because his character is consistent between scenes and gameplay. Michael and Franklin are always hesitant to do anything in cutscenes, but then when you have control, immediately make them commit a bunch of murders. Trevor is always homicidal. Consistent.
CJ was like that too in sanandreas... Could make him commit massacres with a chainsaw then in cutscenes he acts different theres one mission Ceaser gives you a pistol for a mission and CJ acts surprised and says where did you get that? Like hes never seen a gun before
@@demonjmh In my game CJ had always carried silenced handguns, he even had one already when I activated the mission, so that cutscene was always particularly weird and funny to me lol
That’s how most protagonists in games are, you can just make them betray their morals and personalities for your own entertainment. Plus whatever you do outside of the missions/cutscenes isn’t really canon to the respective games.

I was 18 and a freshman in college when GTA V dropped originally. I preordered it and was itching to leave my class early to pick it up lol. I'm now 27, its so wild that this game has entered it's third generation of consoles. And even crazier that I've purchased it three times (360, One, and PS4) 😂

I've seen so much of GTA 5 that GTA Vice City, San Andreas, and 4 are starting to look new.

Yuppers. They spent all this effort making new content, would have been nice to put it in single player or at least give us the option to add it in after main story if we want.

The Ray tracing is basically completely negligible and extremely hard to notice in most cases. There’s no RT reflections whatsoever, only RT shadows which are not super noticeable in open world games like this.

I was 18 and right out of highschool when this came out. I remember going to the midnight release at my local GameStop, not a huge crowd or anything but it's a good memory.
As I'm typing this I just finished another playthrough of GTA. I think the last time I played through was 2017 then before in 2013.....got me feeling kinda sad, I guess it's the memories I have of waiting for multiplayer to launch. Then when it finally did playing with my old gaming buddies grinding missions and robbing the gas stations......I'll never be able to go back to that time, and I took some of it for granted.
Me and my buddy stood in line for the midnight release when it first came out. We were in the first 5 in the line and got exclusive goodie bags with a t-shirt, bug inspector van keyring, bank vault kitchen timer, 500 dollar bill air freshener, stickers and a pen with blue light on it for the map that came in the game case. Buch of hidden secrets on it. Still have most of it in the rockstar brown bag it came in.

The problem rockstar doesn’t seem to understand is for people like me who have been playing since the game released 8+ years ago running around the same map is boring as all hell! I would honestly be happy with an update that didn’t add any new businesses or anything but took all of the burger joints, banks, and other buildings with interiors and opened them up so that we had more space to explore. It might be insane but I’d even be down for a Fortnite style nuke and completely rework the map🤷♂️

i never played gta5. ever. but i decided to buy it for the ps5 since it was only $10. absolutely recommend. it was enjoyable and i loved the upgrade feel and look to such an older game. glad i was able to experience this on the new gen console, i totally agree that whoever hasnt played this game yet and has a ps5 should give it a go. (the price is worth it).

I remember GTA V was my first ever pre order. I went to a midnight launch and lined up outside Grainger Games for nearly an hour. I didn't get back home till about 1 in the morning and was up until 6 playing it.
Same here, pre order and stood in line for about an hour or so. Everyone was walking out the door throwing the game in the air cheering. 😂😂😂 Good memory
Times were so much more simpler then I was same with black ops 1 and and mw2 in blockbusters it was awesome

Remasters/remakes was a cool way to update and bring old games to new generations. Shockingly, the gaming industry ruined that as well 🤦🏽♂️
I was really hoping for something more akin to the graphics mods we have on PC, which just look to be far more photorealistic and graphically impressive. This is a nice little upgrade sure, but they really could have gone further.

It's actually more than what PC has. It's actually got new textures and effects that aren't available on PC. They will likely do what R* usually does, and a short while after console release, the new features will also release on PC.
@@brennanIX the pc version has better textures, lighting, and reflections through modding. The problem with releasing the exact same game 9 years later with some slight touch ups is you have to deal with modders who haven’t stopped working on it. It’s like Skyrim special edition, it never took off because the modded versions of the game were vastly superior to the new release despite an upgraded lighting engine and volumetric lighting and all that
They will release that upgrade on ps6 in 7 years

The Raytracing is minor but better than none I guess
They didn't even have to go that far either they could just easily retextured stuff like the roads to make them look cleaner without hurting the FPS or added more trees and pedestrians
Look at something like LA Roads mod which is a very old mod even that would be great
The one thing I was hoping for was the online mode to feel more aliv ed with more npcs and wildlife ect
Bruh i hope they at least added the wildlife back which they completly removed from ps4, that fkn sad if they didn't and in online i hope that you can see more npc in the cars not only driver like on ps4/xbox1. If you have the game on the new consoles let me know if they added any of these

This is just better graphics really in the next gen version. You will most likely see this in the next GTA game. And it's taking long for the next game to come out but based on the improvements on a really old game I'm sure the next game will be very good

Its been proven that playing FIFA ❤️💙 improves your reflexes as well as your creative and problem solving parts of your brain. A multiple games of fifa will improve your intelligence and gives you a good knowledge and gameplays.

I've got to say I'm pretty impressed. I'm playing it on the Xbox series X in the RT setting, and it looks so smooth sounds great, and it just feels way more polished. Things like reflections in Windows and stuff like that really stand out more. And I'm not talking about like the rear view mirror or side mirrors I mean just in the windows and such. Overall it feels like a much more polished product. The updates and stuff were great too. If you haven't started a fire yet in 60 FPS (performance RT) you should try it! Looks good.

@@zetsurk I'm pretty sure that with gta 5 remastered being around along with the money they're making off people porting over to the remaster on both campaign and online, T2's stock/worries about the definitive trilogy would be an after thought considering the patches they've slapped onto the game after many good complaints toward it.
Keep in mind, GTA Online has a bigger player base than the definitive trilogy afterall. Alot more money in their pockets on that alone.
This should had been a free upgrade. There’s nothing major that justify the $30 price tag they are asking.

In 2013 i remember actually waiting outside at my local EB Games - By local i mean a 1.5 hour drive. I got there at 11pm, and waited for an hour in line, ran into some friends from high school in line aswell, which was kinda cool.
Bought a copy and drove home. Didnt even get to play it cuz i got home close to 1am.

It’s all just a little too “Cash Grabby” for me at this point. Like, after all this time, after people have bought it at least twice, and after a botched release of the remastered trilogy, you’d think that multi-billion dollar Rockstar could just give us the next Gen update like so many other games have done. GTAV is easily one of my favorite games of all time, but I’m definitely done spending money on it. Thanks, but no thanks.

I’ve been saying that! At least update the single player guns and vehicles with all the free online content they’ve made. They started it off that way there are a handful of cars and guns that were not in the single player at the 2013 launch but they haven’t updated it in years.

GTA 6 is coming and probably in the next couple of years and it'll be even more successful than V. So if you think V's longevity is frustrating, 6 is gonna drive you insane, I can almost guarantee it'll be around for much much longer.
Especially if they're just gonna update it constantly with new maps and new content. It might even be the beginning of the end for new GTA's.

The game came out when I was 11, now i’m 19. I’ve probably got over 80 days plus on the game, and have had a lot of great times playing it with buddies over the years and even randoms, also I use to play it on the xbox 360 alone for the most part and then played it on ps4 for a long time. This will definitely be one of the most memorable game’s I’ve ever played!

Hey man I feel you, I was almost 13 when this game came out and now I’m 21. It’s so crazy to look at my character that started out on the Xbox 360, and than migrated over to the Xbox One, and than got migrated to the PS5.

Yesterday was the 9th anniversary of GTA 5 hitting the shelves 🎉 hard to believe this masterpiece will be 10 yrs old soon. GTA 5 was groundbreaking for it's time. It was our introduction to the PS4/Xbox One generation, and the era of massive open world gaming.
The best thing is the change from 30 to 60 fps

First time I played GTA was while getting drunk in a finished barn in highschool, flah forward a few years and we're playing it in the dorms while 10 people and 6 PCs are crammed in with the beds shoved against the walls. Then the pandemic hits and I'm watching hours of Twitch playing the chaos mod. And now I'm watching the re-re-re-release. (PC, PS4, PS5). It may not be my favorite game, but it's definitely been with me through the most. o7
When you graduated high school in 2013 I had been out of high school for a decade, done college for 5 years, and well into my career. That was almost a decade ago :)

Just started first ever playthrough now in 2024. PS5. What a game.
Fave character is Mike. But I like them all. I find getting into their mindset when playing as them.
Before you buy the upgrade here's a massive warning! When you upgrade to next gen you will not be able to play with anyone on the previous gen, it will send over your data to your new console buy all of your last gen data will be deleted, so if you have friends that do not have a next gen system do not buy the upgrade unless you never want to play with them again.

Great analysis from the point of view a console player. Still a big letdown from a general perspective given the amount of promises (ray-tracing being basically a gimmicky shadow marginally better) and the fact that Rockstar have been reselling the same game over and over.
In 2013 I was deployed and my wife sent me GTA V while I was overseas. It really helped me to escape the stress of that tour.

You say that but there is a massive fan base that are complaining including reviewing companies very angry they were not pre warned. As well as a mis information to these reviewing groups that said it would be cross play.

personally, i don’t see the appeal anymore of a game that has been out since 2013. It doesn’t impress me visually, the lighting for all 3 just looks the same and doesn’t give me that brand new feel to it. I mean, it’s literally just an import. Not a remake, their no added DLC that i am aware of, and their is no new open areas to explore. I still have my PS4 with me and just downloaded Elden Ring which is a massive game, yet i am able to play with no lags or low resolution quality. To be honest, this “new” redo of a game is just as disappointing as the next generation of consoles. Just overly expensive and graphics that PC plays have been able to push for a while now.

The only question I have is, did they end up adding some of the GTA online DLC (i.e. cars, weapons, etc.) to the story mode or is it still pretty much just the launch weapons and vehicles?

The dualsense implementation is fantastic ! This is my first time returning to the online mode in about 5 years. I decided to see what the club was all about and was blown away by the haptic
feedback. Think of the remote pulsing to the bass-line and slowly getting stronger as you near the stage. It really does add to the experience in a meaningful way and I can't wait for more people to experience it. It's near perfect implementation for
the technology. I also noticed it while driving on the highway over the bumps in the road and hitting the yellow centre-lane poles. Great work done by the
team to implement this feature in a more subtle fashion

Driving on the PS5 version feels so much better with the haptic feedback and 60fps than in the PS4 version on the PS5.
I personally prefer the more subtle approach. I’ve played cyberpunk and Call of Duty where the trigger pressure is cranked right up. It just gets tiring after extended play sessions. Rockstar has implemented in a way that adds but doesn’t detract which I like. As for The Music Locker, spend some time listening to Keinemusik to feel how well the vibrations are done. Other than Astrobot I’m not sure where it’s been done better
Finally now that they released this “expanded and enhanced” version I’ll be hoping they release GTA VI news.

The jump is huge, especially in Online... The new car upgrades makes a massive difference in land speed. And then you play at 60fps, and yes it's not native 4k... But it does look really sharp. All of this could not work on the old gen machines. And tbh, the game was truly a PS4 era game. Just a degrade and early launch on PS3. That's how I see it, and love the upgrade. Feels like a brand new game
I like this growing trend of rereleased games, where companies charge you numerous times for the exact same IP only shinier. Suits modern gamer culture perfectly.

Most companies either upgrade their games for free, or make substantial enough changes that warrants paying for it. Rockstar is really one of the only companies that does things like this

I would love to revisit Los Santos, but my backlog includes Control, TLOU Part 2, Metro Exodus, Deathloop, Nioh, AC Valhalla, Sifu, Doom Eternal, and that Dark Pictures Anthology game. Right now, I'm playing GT 7. I have Elden Ring and Dying Light 2 waiting in my cart.

I understand your viewpoint; but I also know that employees don't work for free (and that the share holders / executives don't equally share all the profits with staff). So all the free DLC that's been released over the past 9 years has to be made/tested/etc by employes who've been paid this whole time, salaries aren't cheap. Say you have 30 people making $50,000/year that's $1.5 million a year, or $13.5 million over 9 years. Plus the costs of the business (offices, health insurance, training, benefits, office staff, HR staff, legal staff, etc) - the costs add up.
While GTA (and more specifically shark cards) have done very well for Take Two and Rockstar Games; all the DLC has been free for the games if you didn't buy a SC at all during 9 years.
That, and some times big companies are greedy and want money, which is pretty common place :)

I think a lot of people will still buy it, but I don't see it sustaining the same year-on-year sales numbers that even the Next-Gen PC / Xbox One + PS4 releases had. Though, I think that's just because it's a 10-year old game. Still, there's probably a reason to expect it to do worse - though, it'll still probably sell well. Because of the seamless character switching, of course.
@@hamingnu6610 I don’t think so. If people truly were disenchanted by E&E, we’d see people stop playing the game. Other games like Destiny 2 Year 1, Culling 1, Paladins, Halo 4 etc, saw a mass exodus of players when players thought their game wasn’t getting better. Of course, in the case of Destiny 2, the game got better so players came back but the point remains that it’s obvious when players are truly disenchanted with the game. And seeing that GTA V is still selling gangbusters and having a high player count, it doesn’t look like it’s in trouble. Hell RDO is in a worse state than GTA is.
I still suspect the game will stay successful. Because success often breeds success. Even after 10 years, if some older players drop out, new players may take their place. And since GTA is already quite popular and cool, people who were kids before and are now grown up are likely to start playing GTA.
As long as Rockstar doesn’t absolutely ruin the game, GTAV is likely to stick around for a long time.
@@FraserSouris I guess I agree. As long as the game isn't ruined by something they do at some point, it'll probably stay for quite a while. But, I think we're definitely going to see less and less new players to replace the old. I don't think I can say otherwise just because the game's currently at a point where it's still selling high numbers. Though, rather than seeing it as a sharp decline, it makes more sense to think of it as a gradual decline in the overall population (that probably won't manifest until a little later from now), because you are right in the sense that there are probably gonna be a lot of players still coming in. Perhaps more than the amount that dropped out in the past 5 or so years.
@@hamingnu6610 Yes. Even if GTAV were to decline, it would be an extremely slow process. Slow enough that it gives Rockstar enough time to reverse it or find some ways to address it. For example, making incentives and events for new and lapsed players or Porting the game to new platforms etc. And even if they fail to address it, the game isn't going to die because games like this are often self sustaining. Look at WoW for example.
Even then, it's not like there's an alternative to GTAV right now. While PC may have FiveM, console users do not have that and if they want a GTA Online experience, they have to stick with GTA V. Other companies and games know they can't compete with GTA Online directly so they're not going to take the risk.
As for getting new players, GTA has the advantage of already being popular. If a game like say, Culling bleeds too many current players, it will be hard to find replacements because Culling isn't super popular to begin with. Even RDO has the issue where despite its singleplayer success, many people aren't willing to put up with its online mode. But with GTA, everybody already knows and likes GTA. It's quite ingrained in culture. If some kid who watches GTA videos in 2022 grows up and is able to spend money in 2030 and GTA V is still around, they'll likely spend money on it since they are familiar with it beforehand.
Unless Rockstar does something so terrible that nobody can even play the game or something, it will last.
Can we really complain when rockstar is the company putting out games like GTA5 and RDR2? They put their souls into these games and hold back nothing. Some of their cash grabs can be excused because of that in my opinion. Other companies are putting out below average games while still milking us for cash every step of the way. We all know GTA6 will be a masterpiece, and can you even imagine what RDR3 will be like. I bet the main character will be Jack.

Not gonna lie, I had this idea that with 4K 60fps the game would look amazing, but strangely at higher framerate on consoles it looks pretty old, especially the character models and clothing. Don't get me wrong, it still holds up but in my mind the game used to look amazing. I guess all these years of PC mods have spoiled me and I was expecting the game to look as good as if it was modded with a nice ENB but instead we got the vanilla version. Still a nice upgrade nonetheless.
When Rockstar announced that GTA V was about "the persuit of the mighty dollar", they weren't kidding. By current year standards, this game looks and plays like a Sims game with toy guns.

I just really wish they would've invested as much time and resources that they put into online, to the actual singleplayer story. 9 years and counting and not a single significant dlc or free expansion was added to the Singleplayer. That shows you where their priorities are.

Load times were already short on the current gen. There’s a little bit of a noticeable difference. But honestly it’s still looks the same as last gen. True, It’s smoother but this definitely isn’t worth the money imo. Kinda wish I hadn’t purchased it already. I expected a lot more with a name like “expanded & enhanced”. I don’t understand why it’s so hard to make the graphics look better when modders do it all the time on PC. I’m not asking for all the bells and whistles but surly the ps5 and XsX can handle more that this. This should’ve been a free update for everyone on current gen. Imo

It’s on sale right now and I already own the game through a license transfer but only on my Xbox series S and it’s in my living room but I also own a Xbox series X and I can’t play it since I don’t have a licence transfer on this Xbox from my friend, so should I pay the 25$ to get story mode and gta online just so I can play it on my series x? Or I can pay 13$ for the online only but like I said I already own this game through a license transfer with my friend but I can only play on my series s in my living room and I also own a 165/120hz monitor that I play on with my series x but my series s in my living room I’m playing with a 4K tv but idk if it’s worth it?
