About Dude Dad:
Hi! I'm Taylor Calmus, a Colorado-based actor/comedian. I started Dude Dad© two weeks before my son Theo was born as a way to stay creative while learning to be a father. My wife Heidi and I now have 3 kids and over 300+ videos. My purpose for the channel is to entertain, enlighten and inspire.
In addition to Dude Dad©, I have been in numerous TV shows, commercials, and have regular appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live. I will also be hosting my own TV show called "Super Dad" on the new Magnolia Network / Discovery+. Heidi and the kids will also be a part of the show. I am originally from the rural community of Howard, South Dakota.

As the husband of a teacher, I appreciate what you said about them. Thank you for helping your kids teachers like you are. The clear the list gift is a great idea. They are very underapppreciated and deserve a ton of respect
Also a husband of a teacher. We provide so much for our kids teachers because we know the struggle. Show some support for your educators!
Definitely make sure to treat your teachers. Amazon gift cards most importantly notes and comments to you and your boss how much appreciate the things they do with examples
Teachers in the modern world are ridiculously ignorant of almost everything they're supposed to be teaching! Have you talked to the society out there lately? They don't know how many states are in our country, they can't do basic math, they don't know how to spell, they have no idea what ZIP codes are for, unless it has something to do with TV or the internet these kids don't understand it whatsoever! So if I were you I wouldn't be bragging that you are related to a teacher! There are no good teachers because good teachers leave public schools to go to Charter Schools! And there are less and less of those people as well! Haven't you looked at Libs of tik tok? There are no good teachers anymore in public schools so get over yourself
@@swinksist no thank you! There are no good teachers in public schools anymore! Libs of tik tok proved that quite well
@@Julie-ey2lq teachers across the country are teaching kids about sex! These kids are graduating out of school and they can't do basic math! They have no idea that we have a country under a constitutional conservative! Teachers do not need to be respected nowadays because what they're teaching is the liberal propaganda! People like you who blindly support teachers are the problem! You are the reason we have bad teachers
At first I was worried for heidi’s safety, driving around with a hot open coffee cup, but then I remembered if Taylor taught me anything, is that her cup is 90% creamer, she’ll be fine lol
That's why she didn't say "coffee" she said "....drink"
Heidi looked liked she was 1 post-it away from going postal. Don't mess with the good post-its! 😆
We need to see a video of Taylor picking the kids up in the T Rex costume!!!! That would be hilarious!!! XD XD
We *need* this. For posterity. Plus, you can save the footage for when they get married. 😉
As a retired teacher who comes from a long line of teachers, bless you guys for the support. Everything you said about teachers is honoring and right on!!! Love your videos!!! Thanks for sharing! Have a great school year!
Lol! I Haven't heard the name D.C. Talk in like 25 years! Taking me back to my childhood! D.c.Talk, newsboys, jars of clay, p.o.d.
Shout out to Heidi for the DC talk mention
I love all these ideas, the moms and the dads. Two things:
1) as a front office worker at an elementary school, I see the struggle that teachers deal with on the daily (and yes, including weekends!). Our school system will not improve unless people contact their school boards and administrative departments of their districts, and vote to make changes in their elections as well.
2) I wrote notes to my boys when they were in school, all the way up through high school, and even their first year of college (my boys are now 33, 32, and 31). They still remember those notes and all three said that it was often the difference between a good and bad day. Show your kids some love! :)
I just realized Heidi said she’s giving TWO Amazon gift cards! Want to clear the list and another actually FOR THE TEACHER!!
HEIDI , YOU WIN 🏆
Thank you for caring about teachers!! It’s been a tough few years and it was tough even before it was tough/er!!
This teacher thanks you. Parents supporting their kids is SO important. And your support of teachers is much appreciated. Thank you! You are both outstanding examples of great parents.
20 something students in a class! That would be fantastic!! I am a woodshop teacher and normally have 40 plus kids at a time. Thanks for giving gifts to teachers!
Yall are so correct with your comments on teachers. As someone who just left education we were seriously so under appreciated and under paid for the amount of stress that came with the job.
I prefer Heidi's music choices. Yes DC Talk!
Currently “Jesus Freak” is my 4 year old’s bedtime song. 😂
@@amyclutter7259 stop!! I wanted to comment Jesus Freak🤣
Yesssss DC Talk! Lol I grew up listening to Jesus Freak, I still know most of the words to it
I use the megaphone in my classroom 😄 Yes, I use it to get their attention- scare them out of their naps- The siren is fun for those times when collaborative work talk becomes toooooo loud😂 The best gift I could get from parents is support- I want nothing more than a supportive parent. make sure your child gets to bed early enough. Feed them breakfast before they come to school. Make sure they are prepared and have completed their work. Communicate with me. I am human and I am not perfect I make mistakes and I’m more than willing to admit that I make mistakes but come to me and talk to me. don’t talk trash about your child’s teacher in front of your child. It confuses them and it makes them think that they can be disrespectful in the classroom. you don’t have to like me but we can respect each other-
Well said 👏
I use the megaphone because I’m a library teacher and my room is huge. The megaphone really helps when I need to wrangle them back from check out time. Or when there’s a double class and I just can’t, lol
This ! 👍👍
My child never woke up until the last moment. He is gf and couldn’t have breakfast at school. I worried about him. He made it through
As a current teacher, often wish lists are for some of the “fun” things we wish we had in our classrooms that a budget didn’t cover. For example, while a school budget may cover paper & writing stuff it may not cover bins to put said paper & writing utensils in. Thank you for understanding the struggle we face & the support!! (& from experience the treats & extra gift cards we often share with our spouses who are our rocks at home!)
Heidi we need a video on your food whiteboard! That seems life changing.
Teachers need to receive more love than they do. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
DC Talk!!! Classic LOL
You both are great, and your ideas should be put in a book. Love it. Blessings!!🙏🏽
Heidi is actually helping all the moms out there and Taylor is just there for comic relief!! (sry if I spelled y’all’s name wrong!!)
Taylor and Heidi, I’m a teacher in Oklahoma. I’ve been watching you for years. Big fan. Thank you so much for your comments about supporting teachers. This means so so much to all of us. Thank you thank you both. Much love! Happy Back to School. Wishing your kids a wonderful year.
Thank you for supporting teachers 😊 I'm a teacher and I love when parents understand!
Ok Taylor had me at MCR for the playlist! 😂
Also Taylor in the T-Rex costume to Heidi: “So you wanna….?” 😂😂😂
"Fatherhood is about creating adventure." Geez, you are every little kids dream.
School teacher and mom here! I really appreciate what you said. Every year we pour a lot of our own money into our classrooms to make sure every kid has what they need, we have extra snacks for the kid that doesn’t have one, our classroom is welcoming, fun and organized with 20+ kids in it all day. All the while we often struggle to get a 1% raise which never offsets the increase in our medical insurance costs. But we teach because we love kids, we want them to reach their dreams and we want to help them all along that journey.
I love Heidi's song playlist!! 👍
Dude's items all had nothing to do with necessities.. was all fun stuff.. which is great but sometimes its sad how much the moms always do al the necessary things. I love tho that she had the warm drink for herself because it shows she is prioritizing her wellbeing also!
I noticed that too. He can only be a fun dad because Mom is taking care of the practical stuff lol. Hopefully in real life they're splitting it evenly.
These videos always make me feel like Taylor is kind of just another kid in their lives and that Heidi is doing all the work. I'm sure it's not like that in real life but if it is I feel bad for her.
I understand the thought behind moms providing the "necessities" while dads seemingly goof around, but in all honesty this highlights to me what makes moms and dads different. What dads bring to the family is so vital. In most families I've been around, moms are ensuring the physical needs are being met, but dads (the good ones) are providing mental and emotional well-being. I'm sure both parents are seeking to provide in all these areas, but it's amazing to me how belittled fathers get for not "doing enough" when in reality dads are who most kids run to when they are frightened, sad, or excited. Everything Taylor had was thoughtful more to the kids emotional and mental well-being (fun wake up, fun pick up from school, message notes) and even the teacher's well-being got attention. Heidi had the kids physical well being in mind with her items (food lists, clothing etc). Both to me are vital, and one shouldn't be frowned down upon because it isn't addressing the physical "necessities".
@@Alan-iu1we mmm hmmmm.
I agree! As a mom, I really don't want to run after my kids in a t rex costume...I'm happy for my husband to take care of the silly, goofy stuff. It's fun just watching the kids enjoy their dad!
Taylor's face at 2:04! 🤣 Also like how Heidi always says the word 'bag'!
I always love your videos especially the ones where Taylor imitates Heidi and then she reviews it. Keep the great content coming guys ❣️🎃😁
Hello how are you doing?
Really love the content, you guys should make spotify playlists, like a DIY playlist, boating playlist, driving with kids playlist and a ‘so you wanneeeee?!?!’ Playlist.
Teachers ROCK! support your teachers.
Some do, not the ones grooming kids and telling them they’re racist though.
I love love love DC Talk!!!
As an elementary school teacher, it makes me so happy to hear you understand and appreciate your child’s teacher and the responsibility and role they play! Makes my heart melt!
You can sit one evening and fill up a WHOLE pad of stickies-- then you are more streamlined for the lunch rush. 😀
Hello 👋 how are you doing?
I introduced my kids to DC talk, hey, the love it! If we didn't homeschool it would totally be on my carpool lane play list! Lol
As a band teacher it warmed my heart that you support and understand the struggles/under appreciation of teachers! Thank you!!
Thank you you for the teacher shoutout! ❤️ Next week I start year 24 of being a 4th grade teacher. I LOVE it, but it is draining even on the best of days. Being appreciated by parents and kids makes it all worth while! 🥰🥰 You two always brighten my day! Thank you for your amazing videos! Your kids are beyond lucky to have two amazing parents! 💕💕
Wow, I am a teacher also, this year being my 10th. Congratulations on reaching year 24! I wonder if I will make it that long... 😄
As a teacher, with a husband who is also a teacher, we appreciate your appreciation for what we do. Although this year I will be spending a lot of time at home with our new son 😅
You guys are amazing parents. Your kids are lucky to have you. :)
I'm so glad you write notes to your kids! My mom did that in all of my lunches and I still remember it today!
It is all about the Dinosaur! A Great teaching tool! LOL!!
One of my co teachers would wear one in car line duty.
You guys are an awesome couple. Love the content.
Thank you for supporting teachers!
Love it!!! Great tips!! Forget embarrassing them with PJ’s, I’m so using the Dino costume as a threat/warning 😂 🦖. I make little stamped cards for the kids since they don’t read well yet.
Stay on that pedestal! Preach! Oh and giving teachers beer is the most Wisconsin thing I can think of 😂
6:21 "Super Cute!" You need some Mom shirts with that quote. lol
Another great video you guys.... and yes, we all caught that Heidi forgot how to drink out of a straw in the beginning. 🤣🤣🤣
Love the mug life and living life dangerously on the dashboard. We're kindred spirits there.
Some teachers do have a budget but it's not much at all! I am a teacher's aide & I know what the teachers get at our school! It goes fast & barely covers what they need!! I know your teachers LOVE the Amazon cards!! Love it! Support your teachers!! 💗💗
Omg ,I love you guys .
Those are all so great, and as a former teacher THANK YOU for valuing your kids' teachers. 💜
Thank you so much for supporting teachers!!
The music is a number one for all parents every time anytime. Kids music is for preschool. Not the house or car. Also the post its are cute, but like the music those kind words and wisdom are spoke to everyday. Actually turning music off on the way to school just to talk to them about what to expect or if they have any Questions is always great. 6 adults and they had great times and memories. During pick up and drop offs. School buses in Cali died in the 90s
So much of this made me happy! Thank you for the support for us teachers! You both are the best. FYI , Taylor the dino costume might not be a great idea in the car ride line. 😜🤪😂
Thank you for supporting the teachers.
Thank you for your appreciation for teachers!
Your kids.are lucky. You guys are funny and thoughtful. I bet they roll their eyes with love a lot at their dad! And say thank you to mom for having lunches and snacks they actually like. To include the teachers on your short list was really nice too!!!
Ohhhh you guys you're so kind to think of teachers too
Heidi, can I get a copy of what's on your food list? I need some fresh ideas :)
Yes DC Talk. And my mom used to do the shopping thing with us. Each 1 of us got a day and lunch out!
The dinosaur costume though! 😂 lol
Thank you for the teacher love.
Love your family and your wholesome videos. I would just like to suggest an Admiral style mug to Heidi, the design is made to put on a dash or console with no lid, plus they keep the heat in. It's a must have on a boat or commuting. Love from Alaska
Heidi’s ideas are right on!!
DC talk! And the yellow WOW just hit different
I thoroughly approve of Heidi’s music list!
Love this series
I was hoping that ultrasound picture on the fridge was a hint! Congratulations to your growing family 🥰
I didn't use a megaphone when my kids were little. I lived in an apartment and it would have disturbed the neighbors. I used a super soaker filled with cold water.
Before super soakers my Dad used a cold wet washrag to wipe faces.
I love that you do this! Even though my kids are grown, I love watching you.
Heidi’s music playlist is MUCH, MUCH BETTER!!!! Just sayin’!
Amen for teachers! Our family is making it on one income with Dad as a private school teacher!!! Nearly impossible, but he has a heart of Gold and wouldn’t do any other work. My heart breaks, so many states do not have enough teachers, budgets are wasted on bureaucracy.
Great ideas guys! As a mom of 3, I approve!😁 And I can't wait to see the T-rex video and the kid's reactions to it!🤣❤️
My wife and I were just looking for a way we could donate directly to teachers! Thanks so much for the link! We cleared a local teachers list!
That’s amazing!!
“Do you want me to put the dinosaur costume back on…..” 😂😂😂
Thank you!
Okay i felt like throwing up when you showed the musical "classics". We're so old 😂😭😭🤣
Dc Talk-yes!!! I’d add a family calendar and/or planner
Excellent playlist!! My chem!! TBS!! Hoobastank!!
I am older, but My car play list is literally a combination of both your lists. Lol
Hello 👋 how are you doing?
From Jesus Freak is the best song ever (Totally Agree) to “Should I put the Dino suit back on” 😂😂😂😂
Added megaphone to cart after the foghorn ended up being for a boat and the neighbors were mad. My kid was recently introduced to "Make Damned Sure" by TBS. She loved it.
“These ones are my nice ones” lol
I do Throwback Thursday in the pick up line at my kids school. I pick a sweet 80's or 90's jam and play it super loud when I pick them up. I initially did it to embarrass my kids but now they love it and look forward to it. Hopefully it brings the teachers some joy to be able to make it through the end of the week! The teachers have even made up a dance routine for a song they requested. 🎸 🤘
I left the classroom as a teacher this past school year (returning this year as a building sub) and completely agree with your lists. Personally I don't have any of my own kids yet, but Taylor and the dino costume was great. Pull up to pick kids up in the dino suit with Jurassic Park's theme song blaring in the background... everyone will remember that
My God ! An experienced credentialed public servant who will keep them alive & safe till we get done w/ work!! That's all we ask!!
Send them to daycare then. If that is all you want.
Thank you for sharing these ideas! 😊👍❤️
I love the idea of the positive sticky notes! 📝😁👍❤️
Great video with both of you!
Homeschool mom. My list:
1. Schedule to visit all the parks, museums and touristy places that are usually overcrowded during the summer.
2. Order the school books.
3. Family vacation -- add a museum -- that'll make that an overnight "field trip." ;)
4. Get some new PJs to lounge on the couch while reading with your emerging reader. Last year's pair is probably worn out from being used every day.
5. A gift card or a gift for the teacher. Totally. ;)
6. Don't forget to sign up for Co-op classes!
7. Don't forget to schedule that play date with that family.
8. Shoot... don't forget to schedule a time to actually do school work. Too much socialization on the calendar right now.
9. A pocket calendar for all things. Life saver!
10. YES to white boards! I have 4 of them on my fridge! Groceries, Responsibility (chore) list for everyone (including the 4 yr old who can't read), Honey to do list (there's only 2 items so far), and my TO DO list for the day.
Sticky note was my favorite. My Mom would write a note everyday and hide it in my lunch. I am almost 50 and she passed away 9 years ago. Those are the things that your kids are going to remember for years to come.
"Those are my nice ones!!" Lol!! I totally have a good list pad and sticky notes, then the ones for everyone else! 😂
I picked up my girls on horse and buggy. Try that in carpool lane.
Ps . They loved it. All the kids went crazy. My girls was so proud. A super dad moment
Love your guys‘ contact keep it up
DCtalk??? Ok- yall have won me over ❤️
Mom was a great influence on the stuff that she needed to pick up for the kids at great prices, Dad was so silly!!!
DC Talk! Yes! ❤️
Love it!
Kid's here (Indiana) went back this week. Cool video.
Yes. I’m a brother though, and my parents have the same stuff! 😂😂
