    Thats what makes your work exceptional mikko is the attention to the small details very few of us left in this world that pay that kind of attention to the little details.

    This is incredible work Mikko. This looks almost as good as Savage Gears 3D roach and that took an entire company years to develop using 3D scanners and other crazy machines. Keep up the great work.

    2 questions I'm in the USA.
    What's the of the pink stuff you use to make the mold? and then stuff to actually make the mold the soft plastic stuff that doesn't melt the pink stuff?

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  7 лет назад +1

      the pink stuff is mold max 30 and the stuff i make the actual softbaits is called plastisol

    This may be a weird question but what wood knifes would you suggest for a new lure maker? i have goten into it for about 3 years now and i want to start making detailed swimbaits insted of smooth paddle tails. any suggestion?

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  7 лет назад

      if your doing just detail carving like scales and such i personally like the tajima lc 360 also the Japanese Kiridashi wood carving knifes are pretty badass

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  7 лет назад

      maple again. I'm pretty much self taught and i don't think i have any real preference when it comes to carving patterns and such

    • @pikeknights
      @pikeknights 7 лет назад

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  7 лет назад

      well it would be nice but realistically i don't see that happening, this is pretty niche subject matter that I'm dealing with my channel and lets face it, it's not really mainstream.

  • @rhallman1000
    @rhallman1000 7 лет назад

    Did you hand pour the plastic or inject it? I ask due to some collapsing issues I had in the past on a bait this big hand pouring. Also, can you share any info on the harness used, i.e., installed after pour, just a wire with a loop on each end?

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  7 лет назад

      i hand pour mine altough i do have an injector too just like to do the poiring method more. the hook set up is added after I've painted the baits.

    Another general question concerning your amazing crankbaits. Do you make them in balsa or also in maple (and afterwards in resin)? And where do you get the cool looking saddle lips or do you make them yourself?

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  7 лет назад

      the wood choice depends entirely on what kind of crankbait im making and for what species. i mostly use balsa, maple, birch and featherlite. those saddle lips are very common here in Finland and most stores that sell lure making stuff have them in various sizes.

  • @scottbeebe7814
    @scottbeebe7814 7 лет назад

    can you share the templates you used to make the lure ? I tried searching for them but wasn't able to find the exact ones you used. I greatly appreciate it if you could.

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  7 лет назад +1

      i never share those and they get destroyed while i make my baits. why would you want to use my templates anyways, isn't it much more rewarding and fun to create your own designs?

  • @bobdavis2011

    Do you feel that making it in two halves makes the prototype stronger?

    why do you use a small carpet knife rather than an exact o knife? I have had better luck with an exact o knife which is why I ask.

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  7 лет назад

      i find that exact o knifes to be too flimsy for my use and the handling does not suit me, so i guess its up to personal preference.

    Beautiful work as always. I know you get a ton of questions about the paint for plastics and know it is CAB which, I don't expect in the states anytime soon. Just curious. Is that paint solvent or water based? Thanks.

    Hello Mikko, you have incredible capabilities, your video was awesome. Maybe someday, I will do something similar...Thanks for sharing your excellent work and creativity.
    Mikko, given that you have lot of experience painting lures, do you know how to use in the correct way Wicked UV Glow base and Wicked UV Glow White for painting your lures?... I bought both paint cans thinking to add the UV factor to some of my lures, but I'm not sure how to use them. The UV factor is a very attractive characteristic in some lures for fishing. I have many Japanese lures with UV glow, and they always gave me excellent results when fishing. Thank you in advance for your help.

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  7 лет назад

      Unfortunately I'm not familiar with those specific paints, so i cant really say anything about them

      Balázs Tóth i dont use any plastic here. The mold is made from silicone and the lure it self is plastisol.

    Watching your videos has made me go get materials of my own to attempt thank you!! However I can't get it out of my head. The joints, is the puddy you use strong enough to not rip apart if a fish bites the rear hook? Or is there something you molded in to keep the bait from tearing apart?? Thank you.

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  7 лет назад

      I used a tulle mesh in the joint segments to strengthen them

    • @philipromero7132
      @philipromero7132 7 лет назад

      That's exactly what my buddy said I can't seem to find them. Is there some where particular you buy them? Or online? Thank you again!

    • @SolarfallBaits
      @SolarfallBaits  7 лет назад

      search for "tulle fabric" you should be able to find it all over the place, most fabric stores will have it in various sizes

    • @philipromero7132
      @philipromero7132 7 лет назад

      I'm sorry I must just be a idiot. I know that fabric yes. But how do they connect the two pieces? How do they not tear apart? I might be thinking way to hard

    • @philipromero7132
      @philipromero7132 7 лет назад

      I watch. You make the cut in half with the angle. Make the molds of both separate pieces. What interlocks the pieces back together? A thin fabric?
