A 73-year-old woman received the stunning news that her father’s remains were discovered. His plane was shot down during World War II. Barbara O'Brien's father, Robert Mains, was a pilot who was sent overseas to fight just hours after his daughter was born. "I was an infant, I was just born, he held me for one day and then he had to fight in the war," she told Inside Edition. Mains was 27 when he was shot down over Germany, just one month before they surrendered. #InsideEdition

There was probably enough remains for them to make an identification, plus there's probably other identifiers like dog tags and the plane itself that would give them an idea of who it should be.
