I have the Ibanez Jem jr in yellow....my folks gave it to me for my 45 birthday, and it plays amazing.
My Pacifica was modded by the previous owner. Spray painted in a funky green and decked out with all black hardware. For only €150! And it's still the best shredder I own

Years ago I was given a Yamaha RGX612 for free and it's the best playing guitar I own. Yamaha guitars are criminally underrated
I used a Yamaha Erg 121 for 3 years of music college, we all had to use line 6 amps so I thought F it, just use my £25 guitar I got from cash generators 😅

I'm definitely a mostly intermediate player. I've been playing for 50 years but I never really improved beyond the "beginner" category. A few years ago I committed to improve my playing ability and learn some lead guitar riffs. I'm 68 now and my "learning" takes much more time and effort than it ever did before! However, I find that I appreciate my progress exponentially more now! I get annoyed if the song I'm recording has even a single error in my performance. I work much more on technique these days, rather than on a new chord shapes. I love learning new riffs and get tons of satisfaction from that. I play only for myself and by myself. I live rurally and don't have any other players that I could hang out with.
I've recommended a lot of these to students over the years. Your demos have been really useful. Squier pack 10+ of 2 of the LTD's and an Epi LP and several Pacifica's
My top affordable guitar is the Squier Jazzmaster Deluxe. It's basically the J Mascis JM, but in red. It's a beast.
I've an esp ec-50. The pickups are class.

I got that jackson rr mini in metallic blue burst around Christmas last year & I LOVE this little beast! I'm a 5'5 tall dude thats going on nearly 20 years playing guitars & the skills, comfort, techniques, & confidence I've built playing this baby is amazing. Might get another 1 in white & change the pick ups.
Good to see you still have the RGX 312 i have had mine since the late 80's stillplays well.
I bought a Pacifica at a pawn shop almost 20 years ago. It had some issues though. It had a thumb-sized hole all the way through the body behind the bridge and the pups and pots were toast.
I got it for $25 and put some good pups in it, repaired the hole, painted it red metal flake, and replaced all the pots, plugs, switches and wires. I think I had like $250 in it when I got it done.
It was in my arsenal for 15+ years. I thought it was a very good axe, great neck.
It eventually found a new home with a promising student that couldn't afford a guitar.
I fell out of the music scene and being a musician even the RUclips’s I used to watch religiously. I recently got back after a 5/6 year hiatus and remembering rob chapman was exactly how I wanted to get back into it. Seeing it go from him today back to Anderson’s was crazy felt like things are right where I left off
Have to say the best affordable guitar i own is the Sire S3 Strat. Its honestly unbelievable how well that thing plays. It honestly plays better than my other 2 fendsr strats at half the price. Bought from andertons amd kust amazing out the box.

That Jackson is definitely a lot of fun! I love shorter scale guitars. I like to rest a 1/2 size classical guitar on my potbelly when I'm slouching on the couch and just trying to find cool chord progressions while watching TV
My friend's son started to play about 18 months ago (about 14) so I gave him a Marshall MG30 and a Boss DS-1. He's got a Cort Stratalike. He is pretty good now.

Yeah, it was great to see "classic" Lee and Chappers again! Now, as to the @$$-kicking affordable guitar I MYSELF like, that would be Donner's DST-400, of which I own two. I've never repeated myself like that before, so let that tell you something!😎

I started on a South Korean Squier. I still have it almost 30 years later, I replaced the tuners with Fender locking ones recently but it's even better.
YES. Need to get my Pacifica back off my Dad. I didn't have any of the others on that list but I did have an Epiphone SG that sounded nice but had dodgy innards and put me off the brand for life, and an Ibanez GIO which was, and is, mega. Yamaha and Ibanez are the kings of affordable for me.
If your personal Chapman thin line w/ P-90’s had a non reverse head stock it’d be first pick. One & done.
Had yamaha send me a bunch of gear a few years back, included a pacifica. Incredible guitar! Swapped out the humbuckers for some Iron Gears

I had a Charvel Desolation, but it was more of an offset design? It was a TOM bridge. But it had the grey binding and the oiled neck, and EMG pickups. I gave it to a friend that did not have a good guitar at the time, and I miss it. You can still find them for about $400 used.
I have a epiphone les paul plus top pro still! Got it new with money from my first job as a teenager still love it!
Bro isn't that a moving target? 15 years ago you could get MIM starts for a couple hundred bucks on the used market in the states.
I’ve got a Torero. The same cherry red color as the one in the video. I love it and the neck to body carve is great!

It'll be interesting if Rob ever revisits this with modern super affordable brands. Like, Eastcoast (the Andertons one), Harley Benton (stainless steel frets, roasted woods and gotoh hardware on a sub-300€ guitar, world is mad) or JET guitars (see specs above). What a bloody time to be alive when you are able to buy a pro-quality rig for 700€ and sound like the proverbial wall of amps 80's was all about.
JET guitars made me feel stupid of my previous guitar purchases. 200 usd for a strat just as good as my fender strat. Its different, but not as in worse, just as in different. Amazing times indeed.

My PRS Se Myers signature is still fantastic. Semi hollow is fantastic for feedback.
Don’t know if it’ll be on the list, but I would nominate ML-1 modern standard. Real sh*t. Bought my first Chapman about 8-9 months ago. Fantastic guitar. Loved it so much, I did a couple upgrades, genuinely it is now my favorite guitar I’ve ever owned. Keep making them like that, I’ll use em.

"Free Tuition DVD". You don't get those too often anymore. Although I'm so old I have a tuition book (Lead Guitar by Harvey Vinson)with a flexi-disk in it.😃

I got the 2012 Epiphone les paul standard for 340$ and it still sounds and looks great to this days :p
Chappers' video of the Les Paul shootout in 2012 made me get my first eletric guitar, at the end of 2013. Still have it and won't be getting rid of it. Awesome guitar for the money
I've owned around 10 pacificas in the past 15 years, still own 7, my brother one. They are all great guitars from 112j to 812v/w that I own. Of course on the lower number models I've swapped the pickups and electronics so that they could shine but nevertheless guitars worth the buck. Cheers from Croatia!
I have the Mikael Åkerfeldt PRS SE hanging on the wall next to the band's signatures. Watched and enjoyed a ton of your and Andertons content, but kind of always held a tiny bit of grudge over that video that you didn't spend 5 minutes researching the band or Mikael a tiny bit before making the video. :D Glad to see that you acknowledge you had clearly missed something there! Also bought the Ltd F-50 after your and Cap's Shred Machine video over at Andertons. :)
Yeah, we just never had the time, we were shooting four videos a day, crazy schedule it was literally unbox tuneup and go
Got to agree with you with the Pacifica. My first electric was a fender Strat, and I could never quite get the sound I wanted. I bought the Pacifica as a back up and promptly started replacing all the electrics and hardware. It was already great but got better and what I learned doing that made me realise what was wrong won the Strat, which was mainly the saddles. As a result I now have an excellent Strat and an evolved Pacifica which I called Frankenstein, until I realised that had already been used.
I remember the Pacifica coming out after I had already bought my Squier. To me the Stratocaster was the only choice of guitar although I got that people liked Pacificas I wasn't that taken with how it looked. I also wouldn't have enough available cash to buy one for many years.
I have a few of those but my favourite remains my EVH Wolfgang Special, which pack a bunch of features and is of such quality build for the price. Also sound and plays amazing.

Man the PRS SE Torero was what, a thousand bucks? Even new Jacksons that cost above 2000 euros dont even have an original floyd rose, crazy how times have changed

I have a left handed 1990 Charvel Model 475 metallic black which i had to special order for $1299 some where around that price. again we lefties have to almost pay double. then there is the left handed epiphone les paul standard in cherry sunburst i bought for $500 then there is the jackson Dinky trans red which i bought in 2005 for $500, Then there is the Left Handed RG450DXB in white which i won a $500 gift card from ZZounds and Got the Left Handed Ibanez RG450DXB and a Planet Waves 3 inch padded strap and a guitar gig bag for it . The guitar was priced around $399 to $400 at the time. then i purchases 2 ibanez left handed 6 string basses which i bought through American Musical On The monthly payment plan i forget how much they costed. And finally. a left handed Epiphone SG Tony Iommi Model (The first run that Epiphone first did) and that was through American musical supply as well on payment plan with a SKB molded guitar case for it. that is what i own.

I hadn't thought about the old Anderton's video room in quite a while, almost a shock how everything has come along since then.
Haven't had any of these myself but I can probably pick out three of my favorites over the years. Epiphone 2011 '56 Gold Top Reissue $499, still my number one today. 2018 Fender FSR Strat. This was my 30th birthday present from my wife, I think it was around $350-$400. Modded it over the years, it is now currently a Gilmourized Black Strat. Most recently was an Epiphone Inspired by Gibson ES-335 Gold Top I bought last year for $399 on sale. Unfortunately, immediately after buying it I had broken my hand and couldn't play for an agonizing 6-8 weeks.
I missed out on that prs, I found one at guitar center tuned to standard B and was my tuning at the time, I fell in love when I tried it, it was used. I didn’t have the cash at the time, went the next day and was sold, it was going for only about 500 or so. Uhhhg still kicking myself over that one. That neck was the closest to feeling like my first and fave Ltd. 😅
I have an american strat + Gibson SG but I still find myself going back to my old Epiphone Les Paul on a regular basis... I did chuck a Seymour Duncan JB on the bridge but it plays & sounds like a dream!

You picked a Jackson JS11 over a Yamaha Pacifica 112J in "Affordable Guitar Shootout - Chappers Works His Blindfold Magic!". It stands out to me because it sealed the deal on my first solid body choice: a JS22. Thank you forever.
I have the Mikael Åkerfelt PRS SE, and it is still my main guitar to this very day!

I don't have Yamaha Pacifica, but I have had the opportunity to try them and are fantastic for their price
I own two Epiphone explorers, a $699 Ghosthorse and a $799 Prophecy. I consider these as an upper lower price range. Both are a great bang for the buck imho.
I was lucky to buy two years ago one of the last new models of PRS SE Paul Allender (Cradle of filth). It's similar to the Torero and it's amazing!
I have a nice epi Les Paul I just picked up used. I rewired new pots into it and it seems to be pretty sound. 👍
Was watching for my guitar but alas not to be, I'm an old retiree who had to jump on a Ruby Red Anniversary Edition Squier Strat for $579.00 Canadian, sold my small practice amp and bought a used Fender Micro Headphone amp while I wait for a good deal on a used GTX 100 or a Mustang 5, happy as a pig in sh__. Keep up the good work Rob and, cheers from Canada.

It would be interesting to round all of these up and do a new rundown, but with the audio/video gear that Anderton's has now. The video quality and aome of the amp selections didn't really make it a fair comparison.

I have two Vintage JHS guitars ( shown in the photo ) V6P Stratocaster Style with 3 P90's and Vintage V100 Les Paul Type all with Wilkinson Hardware brilliant guitars people love them but many retailers like Andertons will not carry them for some reason who knows why

Yamaha pacifica was my first guitar, given to me by Dad when I was 13, I own a gibson, nice Epiphones, tele's but the pacifica has stayed and will until I pass it down when I have kids one day. Also I am now at my last year doing commerical music at univeristy and will soom be ten years of me playing, so that guitar is alright by me 😎
Actually i found a squire CV 60 stratocaster a very good alternative for the most expensive models of fender
Best budget guitar I've tried recently is the Revstar from Yamaha. Even the Element series feels and plays great. The only other guitars I own that retail for under $799 are the P.R.S. SE McCarty .594 Singlecut standard, and Sterling Cutlass CT50 HSS.
It would be great to go back and find the current equivalent guitars and see what the price is, and see what the prices of each of these in the video would get you today.

Are those being removed from production altogether? Is there still a way to get one to France especially? Do you maybe have one return or something laying around that’s not yet been put on Reverb (might even be dinged)? I saw just a few new remaining on Andertons website but the bigger price and taxes to ship here make it seem impossible to get right now and I don’t know how much time I have left if those are the last ones ever 😔

I learned to play on a Yamaha acoustic and now I own the cheapest Revstar. Unbeaten value for money and I do own more expensive guitars that aren't nearly as fun to play.

I just started playing guitar, I dabbled with it when I was at college in the late noughties but now at 45 wanted to really give it a serious go. I picked up the Ibanez AZ2404, Marshall DSL5 and a BOSS tuner to get me started. Iv been practicing running up and down the neck aswell as servers chords I remember just to refresh myself as I’m not musically inclined with theory.
I have always been a fan of Satriani and Vai aswell and 80s rock, any advice as to appropriate scales or modes I should practice? Currently trying to re learn Always With Me Always With You at the moment.

i sold that LTD EC 100 (basically a 50 with a flame top) ti buy a tokai... i love that tokai but god i miss that guitar ...
My favorite 'budget' brand is Agile. I own 7 of them, and with a bit of modding, I'll put them against a Gibson.

After the intro I thought I probably owned all of these. Turned out I didn't even own one of the exact models but some other of every brand besides the Pacifica. Which I always thought were great but for some reason I just don't like.
