I have an Arturia Keylab MKII, is it worth just getting the Model D and running it through that or worth shelling out the additional for the Poly D? I have the space in the studio for the Poly D but in your honest opinion is it worth the extra bucks for the Poly D..?
Not really a big fan of Behringer but Moog brought this on themselves with ripping off the fans of their OG synths and relying on their name and previous success. Or look at it like this: if you manage to look like the bad guy even against Behringer you really have lost touch to reality as a company ;)
Let’s put it in this way: today more than one company sells OLED technology. They all use similar components. Do all invented all of that from the scratch?. In any case I prefer seeing instruments accessible for all artists instead of having the access limited to those who can afford it only, several of them just collectors with a snobbish attitude, but I am more on the side of the promotion and spreading of music and artistic expressions than keeping this historical elitism ;)
@@AndertonsKeyboardDept I am considering getting a Behringer Poly D and the Model D. I was going to get an original Minimoog Model D from the 1970's or the reissue from 2016 but they are too expensive. I looked on eBay, and Reverb and those things cost like $4,000 or $8,000 dollars. I can't afford it so I would rather go with Behringer even though they may not be the same thing because it is cheaper.
Love my Model D, sounds incredible. Because I don't want to make it obsolete in my setup, and wonder if the Poly really sounds as good, I'm leaning toward the Monopoly instead of the Poly D.
Well, 3 years on and I just bought a Poly D from Andertons for well under £500. Such a great deal and I have finally scratched that Moog itch I've had for over 40 years. I love it and I haven't stopped playing it for the last few days.
Near impossible to get an analog to sound the same as another as no digital control and each time your knobs will be a fraction different in your setup
At these prices, it's worth buying both of them (which I did). But the Poly-D is worth the extra money. The stereo chorus sounds amazing, and the extra space on the panel makes it much easier to play with live and tweak. Plus there's the paraphony/polyphony, the sequencer, the keyboard, the stereo outputs, etc. All in all, it's just a better keyboard. In fact, it's even better than a real Minimoog.
@@Gainn I plan to get both the Behringer Model D and also the Poly D pretty soon. I love the original Minimoog Model D from the 1970's but it is too expensive.
I agree that the Behringer Poly D is better than the original real Minimoog Model D from the 1970's. The Behringer Poly D also has 4 oscillators and other features that the original Minimoog does not have and plus it is affordable too. Only $700 dollars this synthesizer is worth and it has features that the original one doesn't have.
Always happy to see Jack doing a demo of some sort. He always makes me smile:) You're the man Jack! The same goes for The Captain! Love both the keyboard and the guitar channel. And The Captain has become a great guitarist:)

I think I can have at least one Behringer product around 2024. When the hysteria is over. Why people are sooo greedy...
I've read a few people saying the Model D can get more aggressive and overdriven like the original due to the gain staging of the mixer and relatively low output of the poly D. Did you have to add a lot more gain to the poly D when playing in mono? Then there's the feedback trick too. Some say the Poly D sounds more smooth. What are your thoughts on it?
I’m with ya. Happy having a DeepMind 12D and a Model D. I don’t want anymore keyboards hogging space. I have two controllers I use for everything. Give me more modules and a way to rack them in a tight space and I’m a happy camper. 😊
What I'm wondering is if I pulled the trigger on the Poly D would that make my Model D obsolete and should I get rid of it in the process? Or is there still something special about the Model D sound-wise? Does the Poly D in mono mode with 3 oscillators on exactly replicate the Model D?
I got a poly D(my first synth) and I also use it as a midi keyboard. the problem is the velocity on the black keys and white keys are different. The blacks are half velocity of the whites. Have you check that before? I don't know it is my own poly D problem or every poly D are the same.....

When he just had one oscillator on it sounded identical, but I noticed when he switched to the three oscillators I felt like they moog had much more tightness in tune and phase of all of the oscillation happening at once when the poly d sounded much more huge bc the phase was much wider and loose in pitch
Ive had the model D for about 8 months and still blown away by it. Realize though, if youre new as I am to synths that youll also need something with the ability to play triad chords. The model D is great for designated Bass or lead melody lines that sound great but you wont be able to play full chords

1:19 what a dingus you can clearly see he has a square fundamental on the ModelD and all saws on the Poly. Also has different octave settings which can change the filter tracking. You had one job!... now for the bad news. I've done extensive tests against the original Minimoog off of videos, as well as the app, and now against the Behringer Model D and can confirm the gain staging on the Poly D prevents it from getting that really nice saturated, dark and bassy tone of the Behringer Model D or Minimoog. Go to the 1:19 mark and listen to how they handle the low C. Yes dingus here uses a square wave in the Model D which boosts the bass sound, but I can confirm it is very hard if not impossible to get that same sound without fiddling on the Poly D unless you do tricks with the overdrive and use the extra oscillator for a pure sine wave. Now don't get me wrong the Poly D sounds fantastic, but it really doesn't fully sound like a Minimoog once you start stacking Oscillators. Comparing single oscillators, it can sound close. But there's something in the mixer gain that it's lacking to get that nice smooshed-together deep round sound of multiple oscillators. It's too bad it can't get the same sound as the Model D because in almost every other way the Poly is superior. I never have to wait for it to warm up, the components are great quality, and get in tune and everything else is really nice. I don't think I'm trading this in to get a Model D, but I just wish the Poly sounded like the cheaper little brother!
Thank you for taking the time to write down that comment, very useful insight. Since I'm here i might as well ask: would you recommend any specific keyboard if I was going to buy the Model D?
