    Great job. I bought a battered old green one on ebay without the pod. The prices of the pods alone are more than what I paid for the transporter. Nice! I remember when these first came out in 1975. I was 13 years old. I liked the model, but I never bought one because the color was all wrong. So much for Dinky's view that kids wouldn't want an all-white model. It was the same with the SHADO Interceptor, which was painted in the same ridiculous bottle green. Both looked ridiculous at a time when every space ship from 2001 A Space Odyssey to Star Wars was painted white. Dinky lost at least two sales because they misread their audience.

    Hi,
    A bit disappointed that you did not show how the action with the transport module works. I believe that the small metal thingy on top is a lever that, when moved, will release the module. That said, you have done a FAN-TAS-TIC job. That is what the toy should have looked like in the first place. I remember seeing those in the stores way back when and thought to myself : "Why in the world would you have a green Eagle".
    Anyway, in the end, you must have spent a great deal of time and a pretty penny, but it is well worth it. The finish product is simply amazing! To me, you did not restored it, you made it much, much better. Good show!!!

    • @toypolloi

      Serge Desaulniers Thanks, it was actually pretty cheap to do, the most expensive part were the replacement jets. The paint was cheap, and the rest is just time.

    1st off great job just a few things. Now I'm by no means a professional. But I have been watching a lot of other peoples restoration and model building videos so some things are reccomendations I have seen and others are questions. 1: Why not use a primer coat 1st on the metal to cut down on the coats of paint? 2: I'm curious why you didn't put the stickers on before the final clear coat to protect them as well? 3: I've been watching a guy that restores hotwheels. When it comes to rivets after he removes them when he's done he uses screws to put it back together. Thought that would be a useful tip for you, it makes it easier to take back apart if you need to. 4: hobby stores sell a tape similar to painters tape but thinner and helps prevent bleed through. And lastly with the great job and detail you do, I think a modelers air powered paint gun would be great for you. You did a fantastic job with spray paint and a brush, I think you would do really great with the paint gun

    I always love how toy companies say that children won't like something, since many of us as kids never got the figures we wanted like Gloria Baker and Shark, Galadria and Virulina not to mention a whole bunch of stuff that we waited for but in the days before the internet couldn't understand where these figures/toys where. I search everywhere for the female visionaries gutted when I found out they never existed sigh. Oh and a transforming botsmaster Twig thats would have been amazing.

    • @tyrranos9688
      @tyrranos9688 6 лет назад +1

      I feel the same, but when you’re dealing with the population at large they kind of do know what they’re saying about most kids not wanting such a thing. You can still see it till this day, for example female Star Wars character figures clogging the pegs at retail, etc. Most little boys just don’t go for it.

    Stunning job. Incredible attention to detail. I wonder if DInky would ever reissue the Eagle? It's really an iconic craft! I was about 10-11 y/o when the show debuted in the USA and I was completely hooked by the first season, it was like watching a real moon base in action with real believable scientists as well. Second Season was such a let down, it was like an entirely different show very disappointing especially the
    writing and lack of focus on scientific exploration.

  • @brianartillery
    @brianartillery 6 лет назад +1

    Beautiful job, sir! The only addition to that I would do, is to paint some tiny coloured areas on the plastic girder section, and to weather it slightly - all Gerry Anderson vehicles are weathered to some degree: it makes them look more realistic. At opposite ends of the scale, FAB 1 has panel lines and roadside dust on the underside; Thunderbird Four, which is bright yellow, is absolutely filthy, to counter the 'Toyness' that the bright colour gives it - see the Thunderbirds episode 'Desperate Intruder' to see what I mean. The Eagles have dings and scorch marks, as well as a light coating of moondust - they are, after all, basically spaceworthy trucks.

    • @toypolloi
      @toypolloi  6 лет назад +2

      +brianartillery thanks. I didn't want to make this look too real. I was just trying to make it look a better toy version of the ship. I may do another soon.

  • @garym6315
    @garym6315 4 года назад

    Have you ever thought of selling things like this? You can tell that the detail was there in the metal when the paint was stripped off, it just lacked the equivalent detail in the paintwork, which you've managed to perfect. Did always wonder why these Dinky toys were such strange colours - I grew up thinking Eagles were green and Thunderbirds 2 was blue!

  • @scottptolomey3498
    @scottptolomey3498 5 лет назад

    Massive awe in what you’ve done here I had the eagle toys when I was a kid never understood why Dinky always deviated with the colour schemes of their replicas (Thunderbird 2 being blue and not green or SHADO interceptors being green not white and the Klingon cruisers being blue too) nevertheless Dinky really did break the mould in die cast toy manufacture stunning work

    You did a nice job only the one mistake you see on allot of these are they are made with the fuel tanks red. The studio models never had these in red. only the mattel toy one had them in red. the studio models were white like the rest of the Eagles body.

    • @toypolloi
      @toypolloi  9 лет назад +6

      chris dav Hey. Yeah I realise the red is only on the toys. I wanted to make this look more like the studio model, but also keep some of the toy bits on there, so thought the red sits quite nicely with the bright red plastic on the doors and landing gear. I have a few other eagles with the un-pianted tanks and they do look nice.

    I think that you should pronounce the little colored details you added "dee-cals", you know, to appeal to a more American audience, kind of like what worked so well for Fred Frieberger and the second season of the show. ... Just kidding. Great work! I remember seeing these in the stores as a youngster but I never really wanted to buy one since they looked so goofy with the different colors, like from a cartoon or something, even though I love the Eagles on the show so much.
