  • Defensive highlights of the all time great 8 division world champion. A different look at Pac-Man at his best!
    TikTok: / hanzagod_1
Manny Pacquiao - Is a Filipino politician and former professional boxer. Nicknamed "PacMan", he is regarded as one of the greatest professional boxers of all time. Pacquiao is the only eight-division world champion in the history of boxing and has won twelve major world titles. He was the first boxer to win the lineal championship in five different weight classes, the first boxer to win major world titles in four of the eight "glamour divisions." In July 2019, Pacquiao became the oldest welterweight world champion in history at the age of 40, and the first boxer in history to become a recognized four-time welterweight champion after defeating Keith Thurman to win the WBA (Super) welterweight title.

I'm back everyone! Here is a different look at one of the greatest fighters of all time. While the legendary Manny Pacquiao is most renowned for his incredible offense and straight left hand, his defense and footwork often get underrated because his offense was so good. His ability to jump in and out of distance combined with his fearsome straight left and combinations destroyed many opponents. Admittedly there were times when Pacquiao got careless and hit but I do think he is quite underrated in this area so that's what I wanted to showcase here. Pac Man at his best! www.patreon.com/haNZAgod

I like how pragmatic Pacquiao’s defence is. Not very textbook but he just does what’s necessary to not get hit:
    Hands up.
    Jump out of distance.
    Roll under punches.
Head off of centre line when punching.
    Move off after punching.
It’s the kind of instinctive defence you only get from lots and lots of competitive sparring and fights

Yes, knowing it took Marquez, one of the purest and best counter punchers of all time, four fights to figure out and time that knockout punch. Pacquiao was one tough puzzle to solve for sure.

One of the grestest to ever do it. Youre right, its the suttle movements and intricacies that olaced Pac-Man into firing position from awkward angles for the opponents. I cannot count the times I would jump back 10 or 15 seconds just to rewatch what he had just done.

I saw youtube channel discussing pacs defense stating it was developed through roach learning alongside Eddie Futch with Marlon Starling. Catch and counter. Move when you need to move and block when you need to block. Uses of shoulder rolls, off angle cuts, high guard. Even footwork to minimise impact. You don't make it this long in the game without using some sort of defense. Amazing as always, HanzAgod!

Manny’s career destroys most of those guys’ and I’ve studied most of their careers.
Tell me who has beaten the top guys in 7 divisions (I don’t include 154 because Margarito wasn’t the top guy or close to it). Tell me who has been a lineal champ in 5 divisions. Tell me who has beaten the top guys in 4 of the original divisions. Tell me who has been a champ in his teens, twenties, thirties, and forties and who has had the same longevity as Pac (Duran might’ve have fought longer but he didn’t fight the top guys like Manny did and win belts like he did). Tell me if any of these guys was the youngest Flyweight champ ever and eventually became the oldest Welterweight ever. And tell me who has done this while beating HOF caliber, PFP actively ranked dudes in maybe 4-5 divisions.
I mean, you don’t have to have Manny as the GOAT but I just have to 🤨 when you say he’s not close to the top ten. The only person who has done similar things as him was maybe Sam Langford.

He was very technical, learning a lot and improving a lot under Robert Garcia. It was just too bad when he retired when he was probably at his prime against Mayweather. I think his ring iq was very underrated. I believe he was even in his prime whenever he fought Mayweather in their second meeting.
