The quality of Disney movies is dying. Under CEO Bob Iger, the Walt Disney Company and its Marvel, Star Wars and Disney princess franchises find themselves in an artistic and financial death spiral.

Two things: Disney has to return to make movies that make the audience care, that resonate with their life and dreams if you will. And they have to realize not all their audience lives in the LA area or the US. Billions of people waiting for new movies whose main issue is not gender or inclusion, but war, hunger, financial crisis, or segregation. But minorities in the world are oppressed much more often based on nationality, religion or social status than gender. To those billions these US-based problems and solutions don't even make sense. And definitely don't resonate enough to keep buying tickets and merchandise.
Also, entertainment doesn't always have to be socio-politically driven. Audiences just want a good story they can resonate with, not preaching or brainwashing or attempts at social engineering.
the issue with your statement is that it is not a minority of people that are oppressed. Thats the majority. The oppressors are a minority. Most of the world population lives at or below the poverty line while a few people get very rich.
Disney markets to the few. And that is intentional. Those people are their shareholders.

Great video! Just some constructive feedback: the editing is a bit jarring at times, especially the constant shifting and blurring of the text and images. I understand that it's a certain style of motion graphics, and I don't think it should disappear completely, but maybe it could be toned down to be less distracting. Other than that, the information presented was top notch!

Throw me to the company and let me run it for four years. Four years, and I'll have a Disney you can like.
One thing not talked about much in "the problem with Disney" is over-concentration. Eventually, monopolies are bad for the companies, too... Once all you can do to make more is be more predatory and overcharge more and be more stingy, you're in a bad place. Especially in entertainment. People can just *not buy your product* when you're an entertainment monopoly. You're not selling food.
When one studio owns *most of the things* and exclusively makes super-high-cost, super-high-return-needed movies, then something as simple as the viewing public being in a cartoon mood versus a superhero mood on Memorial Day Weekend means that a Marvel flick "flops" and the Pixar film does well. Then the next year, it's the other way around. Both times, half a billion of expected profit never happened.
But the problem *can't be* what the audience wants, or the audience just not feeling like buying your product for some other reason. Because we did focus groups! We know what they wanted more than they do!!!!!
Now, you've fired the heads of both Marvel and Pixar, and based on XYZ article in the Wall Street Journal, the new people in those roles have "decided the problem with movies is X" because it sold papers.

Disney has either allowed or actively made the company focus activism, not story telling. You've only got to look at any of the media for The Acolyte. The creators no nothing about Star Wars, don't care about Star Wars, they just see it as a vehicle about THEM. The story doesn't matter, the decades of history don't matter, and most importantly, the Audience doesn't matter. They hate the existing Star Wars audience and want them to just go away so they can preach to the new generation. That's why the focus is on juvenile product made to appeal to kids and teenagers, as they see them as impressionable and corruptible. It's diabolical what they are doing, and very obvious.

Pete Doctor head of Pixar recored of films has not been good when compared to John Laster leadership at the time running both Pixar and Disney animation. It seems both studios have went down and quality since he was fired from Disney.
To be fair though, John Lassiter wasn’t a good leader either.
@@thefvguy5648 When John Laster was head of Disney animation both divisions had munch better success. The new leader ship decisions I have ruined Disney animation. It seems history is repeating itself once more with Disney producing sequels.

I don’t think the problem is the leadership, Pixar still makes their money back and find success, their good.
The problem for the whole company is Disney Plus. Their films are failing because most people have the mindset that “Why go to theaters when it’ll be on Disney Plus?” Disney Plus is the problem for Disney films failing in theaters.
@@thefvguy5648 Back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s Disney had the same problem of sequels and organial ideas for movies being quite weak. Well, one the biggest issues right now most of the divisions of the Walt Disney Company are failing the only successful division is the parks.

I had more fun WAITING IN LINE for Star Tours (original version) than watching any of the Disney Star Wars "content".
Your editing is really solid, however your grasp of history is a bit lacking. The first "Death" you speak of wasn't a death, look at what else was happening in the world between 1941-49... WW2 and the beginning of the cold war. What was Disney doing? Making bank producing propoganda and war related production. Not much time for family entertainment there. That artists strike you mentioned, did Disney resolve the situation by coming to an agreement... or did he double down on the politics of the red scare and go to Washington to denounce the union leaders as communist?
I get that these are 10 mins of content, but I think your lack f research really holds you back.
