If you ever go to Disneyland or Disneyworld, take a moment and think deep. Every bolt, every screw, every worker, every building, and everyone that is there at that moment, is because of Walt Disney. Visited the park in 1961. I'm 73, now. I'll never forget getting to be in Disneyland!!! I watched the TV program every week. I watch all the videos now of Disneyland and Disney World. There are several vloggers who only do Disney videos!! These folks deserve some kind of award for experiencing for us, their public who can't afford to visit the parks!!! Thank you so much.
I visited Disneyland in 1960 when I was a boy and my family was stationed at Holloman air force base in New Mexico. I sent a letter back then to Walt Disney himself and got a personal reply. He was a true American legend and children through the ages have enjoyed this special land of true magic. 🙂

Mr. Piggy, that's only a myth that Walt didn't want black people in the park. Two of the most well-known original black employees of Disneyland is Trinidad Ruiz, and Aylene Lewis. And there is lots of photos and video showing park guests who were black. In fact that's why I showed photos and video of black guests in 1955, because I knew some people would mention that myth.
I enjoy Disneyland but I disliked DisneyWorld last year. I had no idea where I was, parking was 50 dollars and I didn’t enjoy it much. I’ll keep going to Disneyland. My girlfriend was Minnie Mouse in France. She still knew her moves. I’ve visited Disneyland in Japan which was nice.

I was just a youngster of 5yrs of age when my dad took my sister and I to Disneyland. The park had only been open for 5 years at that point, and it was the talk of the town. We lived in San Diego at the time, and made the drive to our big adventure early one Saturday morning in June 1960. It was one of the most memorable days of my life for many years. Then came Disney World. In 1971. My memories were rekindled, when once again I walked down main street of this fantastical resort, with my dad. I’ve enjoyed numerous trips there since that time, sharing the memories with my children. I would love to celebrate Disney World’s 50 year anniversary, but sadly my funds won’t permit it, so I guess I’ll have to make do with my memories. But they’re happy ones, so I’m ok with that.
@@brockpifer9929 I know, but even though, I still have my memories Brock, and so I hold on to those especially since my entire family has passed on. Money comes and goes, but memories, are something you can hold onto. Thank you for your kind thoughts 🙏
@@PLS.54 yeah, you know if I were in charge of Disney, I would change the prices by a landslide, and I would keep the good parts of so many things for the better in terms of the parks, movies and shows. I would bring it back to the good ol days pre Eisner, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Iger and Chapek. I like Bob Iger the best cause he did more better than what the other 3 had done. But I want to be even better than them, not saying I am better than them, but in terms of what I would do as a Disney executive
Our family, mom and dad who survived the horrors of the Korean War and had emigrated to the United States in 1971, as well as my brother and I, visited Disneyland in 1972. My brother was 8 and I was 9. We wore woolen sweaters not aware on how hot it got in Anaheim. After scrapping off the thick layer of vaseline to ward off insects and ditching the sweaters, my brother and I marveled at the wonder. To me, it was magical indeed.
I used to live in southern California , only 25 min drive to Disneyland . So we always bought annual passes , went in while park is not busy ! It’s a great time when I lived there . And thank you for another wonderful , well made film .
Alex, I cannot believe how good your videos are. You showed me I’m not the only one with my secret shame of loving Disney so much. Unbelievable dude and you should be proud of yourself.
It just shows you never give up on your dreams, Walt was very inspirational to so many people , I love how he demanded perfection from all his imagineers, Thanks Walt , ps I never realized how lucky I was to grow up so close to Disneyland living in orange county I love that I’m only 15 minutes away when I want to get away!
I never had the chance to visit the park yet. Not sure I want to. Maybe It's just me, but If he would be alive today, I don't think he would be proud to see how his creation has been twisted by the woke agenda. I'll be forever grateful to him for creating my favorite cartoon ever Mickey Mouse. Thank you Mr Disney!
I'm 77 now. I remember watching Opening Day on TV. I thought when kids ran across the lift bridge into the castle was the entrance to the park. I went to the park dozens of times with family, on Senior Day in high school, both of my honeymoons, with my kids, and with my grandkids, I have even built a garden railroad in the adjoining lot to my house of all the rides and attractions at 1/24 scale.. I like to think that working on the layout saved my life as I stayed home and built models instead of getting COVID-19, which killed many friends. Now that I'm in the last few years of my life, I can't think of a better time to have been alive. Thanks Walt!
Went to Disneyland with family a couple times in the 90's and DisneyWorld for my senior class trip. It really was magical. As much as I hate on Disney now I'd still take my kids there, it's a mind opening experience.
WOW!! This is one of the best documentary's I ever seen and this is not a hundreds of millions or billions dollar company made this. Well done my man! Just WOW!!!!!!!!
Seriously one of the best biographies I've listened to and contains many facts that several books written on Disney and Disneyland have missed. This was exceptional. Well done.
I Love This So Much. Walt's legacy is alive and well. Walt taught us that anything is possible and never give up. Keep thinking and moving forward. Never Grow up. Never lose your imagination and creativity. Dream Big And You Can Do Anything!
NOt a team! Roy refused to let walk sell bonds to build this park! The Ivy League "experts' all said it would fail; Roy said if we sell bonds the stock will crash and stockholders will fire us! Walt had to sell most of hi prized possessions. Got the Disneyland. look at Walt's tie. It is an "inside baseball' slap in Roy's face!. The logo was the logo for the Poo pony farm/ranch Walt had in PS. Because Roy believed the Ivy Leaguers, not Walt, Walt had to give up his sport - Polo. Roy's son and granddaughter got the slap and have denigrated Walt for 50 years because of it. For emphasis GO TO THE PARK AND LOOK AT WALT'S TIE! Walt was discreet. Only "hard core" Walt fans - like me - were aware of the fights they had from 1953 to Walts death 12/66. Had Roy not stymied Walt many times the company would have been a giant 60 years ago!
I was just at Disneyland for my 30th birthday. Everything was perfect, down to the last detail. I got fist bumped by Goofy during a parade, and Pluto touched his nose on mine as a way of saying happy birthday. Chip and Dale gave me the idea of having them be my next tattoo. I was noticed and talked to by stormtroopers, had Rontu wraps and built a lightsaber. I even saw the park bench where the man himself sat. Disneyland is a beautiful place.
This makes me teary eyed. No matter who doubts you on your vision even if it’s your wife or husband keep creating your dream and vision. Congratulations Mr.Disney for never giving up on your dream that inspire and touches so many people of different ethnic around the world.
Walt would be rolling around in his grave if he knew how his company is being ruined and smeared with immoral ideas. Walt would not let certain unmentionable things in his movies and parks. He would fire certain people. They have tarnished Walt's good name.
Fabulous job, Alex! Thank you for all the time and effort you put into this!! All your videos are wonderful but it is extra special when you do a Disneyland video. Your filmmaking skills are impressive!
Bravo!!!! I will Always be grateful for the times I spent with my Parents and my brothers and sisters at Disneyland Almost 50 years ago, What a special place it was back then....
I grew up 3 miles from Disneyland. During the 60's the Retail Clerk's Union rented the park for one evening a year. Since my mom was a union member, we went to Disneyland every year. The tickets were $8.00 each, and there were absolutely no lines. During the summer we could go in our back yard, stand on our picnic table and watch the Disneyland fireworks. My first job was at a little restaurant in the Disneyland Hotel Complex, where one night I made a hot fudge sunday for Joe DiMaggio and his granddaughter. Those are some great memories!
I also grew up 3 miles from the park (Garden Grove), yes you could see and hear the fireworks. We would drive down Katella Ave and park in the field , put down a blanket and watch the fireworks.
It sucks that he passed at such a young age and only 11years in from the park opening. I’m just glad he accomplished this dream before his passing. This was such a good informative video. Thank you and to Walt himself for such a fun theme park that everyone for atleast one day get to experience a magical moment 🫶🏼
I could watch these types of videos all day long… Growing up just a few miles away in the 70’s I spent almost every weekend at Disneyland and every time was better than the last! Now when I’m able to go many years in between visits it’s like a completely different place every time!
I loved this documentary. It was so emotional and heartfelt and I can tell that you really cared about painting Walt Disney in the light he deserved. Disneyland will always be special, even though the company that now owns it is a mere shadow of the great Walt Disney. Thank you, Alex!
I love Disney parks. I’m from Sweden 🇸🇪 and have visited Disneyland in Anaheim, Disneyland Paris and Disney World Orlando twice. Not done yet. I’m 52. First visit in 1989, last visit so far in 2019. I will go again, this time with my son once he is tall enough to ride everything. I buy in to everything Disney parks are. Magic. But I think that now my favorite is Animal Kingdom.
This was so great. Completely honors Walt and the legacy but I enjoyed hearing about the “mishaps” on opening day and throughout which makes it so relatable.
Alex, wow. Just wow. This is probably the finest production I’ve ever seen documenting the creation of this amazing and wonderful park. Honestly my only complaint is that I wish it were 90 minutes because it was so well done. You’ve really raised the bar, congratulations!
I had a “Disney” encounter back in the 80’s. I was at a restaurant named El Cholo on Western Avenue in Los Angeles with my sister. Back in the 80’s, that place was always packed. Great food and excellent Margaritas! There’s a nice waiting area across from the bar. You could sit there and enjoy a plate of Nachos while you waited for your table. Back then, they’d call your name over the loudspeaker. Anyway, the place is noisy as hell. Then we hear this over the mic: “Disney, party of four. Disney, party of four.” 😮 The place buzzed with excitement as everyone looked at each other and whispered “Disney!” It got pretty quiet. It was then that we saw Roy E. Disney, Walt’s nephew, walk through the bar area with the rest of his party. Man, that’s the closest I’ll ever be to royalty! ❤
I was born in Ventura, my father had lived there his whole life, born in '49. As a young boy, between church, scouts, and school, he got so many 'free' trips to Disneyland in th elate '50s and early '60s ...
I really enjoyed watching this documentary. I had the chance to participate in the Walt Disney World College Program in 2005. I loved it, and I really admire how Walt Disney pursued his dream. He must have driven his wife and brother crazy at times. 😂 Thanks 😊 ❤
Great episode Alex! My fathers uncle George used to play cards with Walt and when he was getting things in order to build Disneyland he asked George, "I'm building an amusement park, a themed experience to which the world has never seen and I am looking for investors." Georges response, "Walt your nuts! amusement parks are disgusting and are going bankrupt all over the country. You'll loose your shirt!" If only he knew... our last name could have been forever enshrined on a Main Street window.
Well the Ivy League "experts' said it would be a financial disaster! That's why Walt , thanks to Roy, had to sell his most precious possessions and mortgage his mansion!
This by far the best I've seen on disneland Mr. Walt him self I cried and enjoyed this as I have not been there many time and envy all this bloggers whom go everyday its trully a magical place and hove now taken my daughters two times and going in June God bless him for not giving up and hopefully the new owners can see his dream and not charge an arm and a leg to go see his dream.
One of my favorite attractions at WDW is One Man’s Dream, in all its forms. We went every year to WDW, and at least once I went into Dream. Walt Disney is, for me, like our Founding Fathers and NASA: a Visionary. Thank you for this, Alex the Historian. 🎬👏🏻
This is the best, most concise Disneyland history I've seen. And I've seen all of them many times. Even has shots I've never seen. Great job of narration writing and editing pace.
There was truly no greater imagination than that of Walt's at the time. All it took make his dream come true was the right amount of manpower, good financial backing, a couple of crazy ideas that could actually pay off, some familiar Disney characters to help pitch in, a collective team of imagineers, and of course withing upon a star.
Walt had no "Financial backing"! he had to sell his most precious possessions and mortgage his mansion! The Ivy League "experts' said it would be a disaster; no one would back Walt; that had "any brains"!
It is still true. A one day ticket to Disney World is $140. That is a bargain for the entertainment you receive. I never made over $50k a year but me and my 2 kids did a week long Spring Break in Orlando for 10 years straight. It was worth every penny! 😎
"Just take out a second mortgage on your working class home to be able to have an experience at Shittyland. To all who come to this mediocre place, welcome....and bring money!!" 😆
We moved to Soutern California from Texas in 1963, I was 6 at the time of our first trip to Disneyland, it was an amazing place for us kids and my parents, anytime family would come to visit from Texas we would take them there. It was an amazing time in my life.
The bessimist Theme Park ever! Our Lawrence and Shirley Smith Family were there! We rode the underground mine rails which in itself was remarkable in itself,And especially to land by pirate ships and real li e pirates battling eachother in bay of water on The Carribbean ocean! What fun! We were Iowa farmers and knew only our farmland. This was the only trip we ever had that held our family together. My husband won a contest which allowed us to go on such a wonderful vacation! We stayed with my relatives who live in Santa Monica which proved to be rewarding. That s the first and last visit to meet my cousins who were Kenny and Helen Hahn plus my 2nd cousins Jim and Monica. They had a backyard museum. Our trip took us to Knots Berry Farm to see a Western show, where we sat in covered wagons to view the show. We also got to pan for gold there, but we found fool s gold, but that okay! Our 4 kids bad a ball! Disneyland topped it all ,so thank you Walt Disney for making our dreams come true too!!!!!! With every adventure comes newness to peopleU^ェ^U
@@clintonoflaherty208people just upset because the Disney movies haven’t been so great .. that wasn’t even his main goal, his main goal was to build Disneyland which is still very successful and thriving
Disneyland was a dream place and the same with Disney World. I have been to both. Disney started with nothing and with his brother built a fantastic company. I am still amazed he was able to do all he did.
Hi Alex,, Great 👍 Video, When Max was small we went to Griffith park near 5 freeway,The Red Barn with lots to see inside,I believe it was moved there years ago.. We have to go back COVID time killed it off ,It was closed 🔒.I am sure it open now... Thanks 👍 Alex...
After the TV broadcast, Art Linkletter said that Walt made a "bum" out of Barnum. LOL! I was 6 yrs. old from Houston, Texas in the early '70's when I had my 1st visit there. My parents wedding anniversary also happened to be July 17th. It should also be noted that the 1954 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (live action) was way over budget as well. If Leagues or Disneyland or both had faltered, there may have been NO WDP. I'm sure glad both worked! Thanks Alex!

Thank you Walt. Happy birthday Disneyland.
Awww, that makes me sad you couldn’t go for the 50th cause of money. Yeah blame 2 things; the company and the people running and America
@@brockpifer9929 I know, but even though, I still have my memories Brock, and so I hold on to those especially since my entire family has passed on.
Money comes and goes, but memories, are something you can hold onto.
Thank you for your kind thoughts 🙏
@@PLS.54 oh yeah absolutely. I totally agree. Memories can never be replaced or can’t put on price tag on it
@@brockpifer9929 Indeed. Would I love to go? Absolutely, however, I will still make do with memories.
Thank you for your kind words and concern. 🙏
You got to do what many " Natural Born Citizens" of the USA in 1972 never got to do!
Thank you!
Nice historical story. Wish the present would have his same family values.❤️🥹
It just shows you never give up on your dreams, Walt was very inspirational to so many people , I love how he demanded perfection from all his imagineers, Thanks Walt , ps I never realized how lucky I was to grow up so close to Disneyland living in orange county I love that I’m only 15 minutes away when I want to get away!
this mans vision was amazing .. great documentary I learned a few new things
A 5th grader in that group has been my girl 62 years; wife 59.
Went to Disneyland with family a couple times in the 90's and DisneyWorld for my senior class trip. It really was magical. As much as I hate on Disney now I'd still take my kids there, it's a mind opening experience.
Bravo. A beautiful portrait of the man and his dream. Very well done.
I remember going to the park in the 50 ‘s while many roads were still dirt. It was marvelous.
This is one of the best histories about Disney. Excellent work!
Thanks!
What Walt left us is truly magic
Until these past couple CEOs took it and bastardized it.
Not anymore, Iger has begun to destroy what Disney has always been.
WOW!! This is one of the best documentary's I ever seen and this is not a hundreds of millions or billions dollar company made this. Well done my man! Just WOW!!!!!!!!
Thank you
Seriously one of the best biographies I've listened to and contains many facts that several books written on Disney and Disneyland have missed. This was exceptional. Well done.
Thank you!
I Love This So Much. Walt's legacy is alive and well. Walt taught us that anything is possible and never give up. Keep thinking and moving forward. Never Grow up. Never lose your imagination and creativity. Dream Big And You Can Do Anything!
The Disney Brothers were quite the team - I don’t think we have their equals today. Wonderfully edited video, thank you!
Had
Roy not stymied Walt many times the company would have been a giant 60 years ago!
I absolutely loved this presentation. Thank you for making and posting this video!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I've been to Disneyland several times and I'm glad Walt didn't listen to the doubters and naysayers who didn't think it was possible.
A gem of a watch, along with great narration. Thanks again for your HARD work and posting.....
Thanks for the video. Nice to see some retro Walt Disney history.
Walt would be disappointed to see what his dream has become.
@@nickkalsi1276 Lol. That doesn’t say too much positive about you.
Walt would be rolling around in his grave if he knew how his company is being ruined and smeared with immoral ideas. Walt would not let certain unmentionable things in his movies and parks. He would fire certain people. They have tarnished Walt's good name.
Totally.
So true 💔
Thank you Walt, visiting Disneyland has been a life changing experience! I really enjoyed being there and I hope to visit other locations.
Fabulous job, Alex! Thank you for all the time and effort you put into this!! All your videos are wonderful but it is extra special when you do a Disneyland video. Your filmmaking skills are impressive!
Thanks RaeAnn!
Amazing!
Wonderful MAGICAL History of Walt's amusement park "DISNEYLAND" in Anaheim, California, early 1952's! Beautiful DREAM by Walts Disney!
That feed the birds at the end was masterful. Though Walt was by no means perfect, his vision, and his impact are felt when you go.
epic historical walkthrough! walt disney really did leave behind a legacy for the rest of the world to enjoy till this very day!
false legacy , if you look at history
Darth Cookie Monster, I've done 20 years of research on Walt Disney, I can confirm it's not a false legacy.
@@AlextheHistorian i've done 30 years of research on Walt Disney. and Disneyland. . If you know anything there are a lot of conflicting reports.
There are indeed conflicting reports, but they don't result in the statement of "a false legacy".
@@AlextheHistorian they sure do
I loved this documentary. It was so emotional and heartfelt and I can tell that you really cared about painting Walt Disney in the light he deserved. Disneyland will always be special, even though the company that now owns it is a mere shadow of the great Walt Disney. Thank you, Alex!
This was great, thank you. He sure was a treasure.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
Alex, wow. Just wow. This is probably the finest production I’ve ever seen documenting the creation of this amazing and wonderful park. Honestly my only complaint is that I wish it were 90 minutes because it was so well done. You’ve really raised the bar, congratulations!
Thanks!

In 1966, My Uncle took me to Disneyland for my Birthday! I'll never forget it!
Great and inspirational video! When Disney was pure Disney! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Only love is real. 💖 I love his quote at the end about what is real.
Went here once and I must say it was a memorable experience. Never give up on your dreams, despite what other people may say. Never, never give up!!!
❤❤❤
Disneyland sparked the Magic that ALL amusement parks have now 👏👏👏
Wonderful.. I was hoping one day you would have a new Disney video . 😊
I really enjoyed watching this documentary. I had the chance to participate in the Walt Disney World College Program in 2005. I loved it, and I really admire how Walt Disney pursued his dream. He must have driven his wife and brother crazy at times. 😂 Thanks 😊 ❤
A wonderful Video of Celebration for 67 years of Disneyland & memorial for the great man Walt Disney who always was a kid at heart.
Walt Disney! What a view, what an intuition, what a courage!
I miss him. He had such joy and loved kids
Thank you for a wonderful history lesson
One of my favorite attractions at WDW is One Man’s Dream, in all its forms. We went every year to WDW, and at least once I went into Dream. Walt Disney is, for me, like our Founding Fathers and NASA: a Visionary. Thank you for this, Alex the Historian. 🎬👏🏻
Watching this Video is like being there in the beginning of Disneyland. Well done. Very Well done.
This is the best, most concise Disneyland history I've seen. And I've seen all of them many times. Even has shots I've never seen. Great job of narration writing and editing pace.
Thank you!
Wonderful video about a true creative genius. We will never see the likes of another Walt Disney.
I visited the park in 1981 I was 9 years old. I’m 50 now and I can’t forget any moment lived there..
"Average working-class people were able to experience disneyland" Not like today.. I miss old times..
Amazing Video
Right. It’s like weeks/months worth of planning/saving
Things where relatively cheaper back them
@omi_god your mom's house is pretty fun. 😆
We moved to Soutern California from Texas in 1963, I was 6 at the time of our first trip to Disneyland, it was an amazing place for us kids and my parents, anytime family would come to visit from Texas we would take them there. It was an amazing time in my life.
So much love and respect to you as always, Alex. Your videos would make Walt SO proud. THANK YOU❤️
The bessimist Theme Park ever!
It is so sad that the dream has been dying since Walt died. The magic is all but completely gone now.

You really threw in "Feed the Birds" at the end, now you got my bawling!!
Great doc about a great place.
