So it was a tight call but 52% of you said yes to a full video of just my helmet cam so that is why I made it :) Now if you are not following me on Instagram @TPSH_Goalie, make sure you do so you can vote on ideas for upcoming videos. Now let me know, did you like this better then my regular videos or do you prefer a mix of helmet cam and behind the net? I am open to new ideas so feel free to share them if you have them :) Thanks for watching.
How are you securing the camera to your mask?. Also is there a protective case on it?. How many times has it been hit? Great stuff btw, love checking out your videos. Sorry for all the questions haha
@@adamcabana9881 1. I made a video about how I do it on my instagram @TPSH_Goalie. You can find it in my highlighted stories at the top. 2. No, well kind of. It has only been hit once but it has been bumped a few times. I am glad you love my videos. Thank you for watching them.
Yeah, it was nice. Luckily it wasn't even that big of a collision. I have had much worse.... go to 3:05 of this game: ruclips.net/video/3nhv7fbNpTY/видео.html
Great Vid Sam! The Helm Cam is a really good format and using the glass cam only for recapping or replaying goals is a really good look. You played great too! Also the ref's a beauty!! I think having this PoV format will help a lot of the younger or less experienced tendies who watch your stuff! Cheers!
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah I think it is cool. However, I do think young and newer goalies could learn more from the behind the net footage as it shows what I am doing to put myself in position. I think by just having the helmet cam only footage, they won't see the whole picture. But I did find it entertaining to edit it like this.
@@ThePuckStopsHere Yeah and that's exatly my point, where the POV is good to show what it physically looks like and then a cutaway to the glass cam to explain a play, save or goal against!
Also... obviously that was not a high stick...BUT your camera angles are not the same as the ref POV. From where he is I could see how he would think that’s a high stick since your players stick goes right by the other guys head. But that ref sounds like he is interested in getting better which is super positive and something that should be encouraged. He will get better over time because he is bringing the right attitude to the rink! (Send him to my channel for some refcam POV ;)
Yeah, I totally get that for sure. You guys can only call what you see and if you don't see it, you have to use your judgement. I am glad he admitted to not knowing, I just wish he called it the other way. Perhaps we could have gotten one late in the game there. Where do you ref out of? I am in Toronto and I would love to do a collab.
I really like the helmet cam, But I do like the camera behind the goal so you can see everything like angles, pushes, and positioning. It was cool though, played awesome as usual. Hope the sun burn is better.
Solid performance Sam! Sucks about the loss, but you had a great game. Your defense really played well that game too. Cleared lots of rebounds. For the penalty, not a high stick. Just a good stick check.
Thanks Joey, they are a good team I think they are in first or second. My team did help me out a lot on some of those rebounds for sure. Would have been goals without them. And yeah, I think it was the angle the ref was at but either way, at least they didn't score on that powerplay.
Did you ever see these 2 videos I posted. What are your thoguhts on the no helmet cam and the "goal"? ruclips.net/video/yfuDAe98ad8/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/lx0bcvxYTow/видео.html
you should leave the camera on the same glass the entire game. films you 2 periods, gives us a chance to see the goals your team scores and gives us a bit of helmet cam each game (2nd period). just a suggestion :)
That's a great idea. I could do that... however, I tend to play worse in the 2nd for some reason so that is the best time to have both cameras on me to show you guys how you can learn from my mistakes. I think I have a solution but I don't know for sure yet... :) If it works, then you guys will love it.
I believe how you did this game was awesome with mostly head-cam, and then doing the occasional behind the net for the goals or certain replays. I like the original setup more I believe, yet it depends on the game..may take more editing and time for you to decide but the switch-up is most welcome. Also, great game! 45 saves is a good one, and congrats to the other goalie for getting a shutout, but that dosen't damper your performance one bit
Thanks, I agree. This style is more fun to watch but the other allows people to learn from what I am doing. So it is a hard choice to make. But I agree that it was a good change up :)
Damn you were a beast tonight ... shame the boys couldn't score haha. Random question, I just bought a goalie stick (first one ever) and not sure if it's curved the right way. Should it be the same as any other stick I use? I shoot right handed, but this one's curved like a lefty ... feels fine in the crease but when I'm up to play the puck it's weird
Meikkhaell it all depends on which hand you catch with. If I’m a player I shoot right but I catch with my left hand so I need a lefty goalie stick to play. It takes time but you will get use to it.
I know it is most each of these videos takes a long time to edit. I have seen people on both sides that love the helmet cam and the mix of both that you usually do so would it be possible for you to upload 2 versions of the same game where you have one with helmet cam and one with mix?
I was thinking about that. But I wonder how many people would actually want to watch both... I have a few ideas on what I could do moving forward. I will keep you posted.
Amazing! Just one tip. (3:15) You should try and keep your foot aligned on the edge of the post. It would have made a shorter distance to travel across the crease for the doorstep goal. You are otherwise very explosive in the crease. I loved watching this video as I'm injured, so I can't play right now. Keep up the amazing work and good luck!
The best thing you could try to do is hold your glove in front of your body. Then when you save it, don't rotate your body towards the net. I have done that too but I have noticed that keeping my gloves out in front have made a huge difference. Even if I do not catch it, it falls in front of me and I typically can cover it up.
That's a great idea. At the time of filming this game, I didn't know I was going to do only helmet cam. I might have found another GoPro session that I can use to put at the other side. I just need to get a suction cup for it. It's my friends, so I don't know if he will let me use it. But hopefully.
If it goes up into the air and then comes down and hits my head, I would actually look down instead of up. The puck is more likely to continue to fall to the ice then it would bounce back up in the air. So try your best to judge where it hit you in the head and where the puck might land and look there first. Then look around if you don't see it.
Using it... but also there is a water method you can do that Tommy made a a few years ago that shows you how to do it: ruclips.net/video/Zie4fz_IrW0/видео.html
I play goalie for lacrosse and have been thinking abput playing goalie for lacrosse. But problem is, is that i had knee surgery and goalies drop on their knees which doesn't hurt for me but its uncomfortable
Outside is my Name that might be cool. But then I need to get another camera... perhaps one day I will and then I’ll also put another camera at the other end.
A videos entirely with the helmet cam is nice at all but... I think is not the best way for you to improve your game 'cause you can't see what you're doing lol But its nice sometimes to have those videos
No, I don't think so either. He was just moving forward and grabbing his stick. I hope the ref watches the video. I am glad he was honest about it. Most refs don't admit to their mistakes.
