    That was a nail biter of a game! I loved what you did with the edit for this one. I say that maybe at times you could do a full game, yet save it for really important ones or where it's just too good to make it just a highlight video. The penalties killed the momentum for you guys honestly. Their goalie did play one hell of a game, even if his style wasn't the most crisp. It worked, and the bounces were going their way. Excellent season, get em in the winter! And just because I feel the need to say it: Do a collab with another RUclipsr like Trav or VO Goalie soon! It be great to see some highlights of those should you guys organize a time to do so

    Sam, your break away save late in the game was awesome! The guy went five hole and you shut the door. So tough on breakaways because one you go down and the guy fakes his shot, you’re at a disadvantage already being down. You read it and stopped it. Great job! So many options for players on breakaways, they typically don’t shoot five hole. I did watch the whole game. Close game that was competitive on both sides. I would be up for being in a draw to win some of your “The Puck Stops Here” swag. Put me in that, please. I’d wear it for sure. Cheers Sam!

  • @owenator
    @owenator 5 лет назад +2

    Watched the whole thing....mostly in the toilet ;) Great game and great season Sam! Thanks for all the hard work on and off the ice. Full game videos should only be done for special games (ie tournaments, championships) at the "beer league" level. Some really good positives from the game and overall summary: guys tried and played real hard, your goaltending was sound overall, defense was excellent, some really bad calls from the referees. Guys defending in the dzone were good for the most part - still pushing guys to the outside wing and clearing up the spot between the faceoff circles. This usually translates to bad angle shots or turnovers. The boards are your best friend; don't be afraid of even reverse cycling it out when you're desperate (no backhand clear attempts please). Never ever never ever make pass attempts cross-ice in the dzone with opposing players attacking - NHL or not, you look silly when you turn it over in the middle of the ice....in your own zone. When defending on a power-play: be prepared to take a bruising. Don't play the man. Play the zone by creating a triangle. Take away all shot attempts (at the risk of blocking a shot) and make sure you have an active stick. 5 on 3's means you need to put your most trusted defensive minded players. When you guys are scoring and you've stuck with what has worked with you in the past, change it up. Harder and shorter shifts. Play faster to make the other team work harder trying to keep up with your skating. Have your best scorer (Josh) be selfish and go in for a goal. If you can't tire the goalie out; tire their team out. Take hard shots point blank to intentionally shoot at them to create fear and intimidation; then the next time you could fake a shot and drive the net. And finally; never give up as a team no matter the score....because you always win and lose as a team. This may not have been the ending you guys wanted but I'm pretty sure you guys realize that a) you were the team to beat, and b) the whole team improved significantly. This was your game to win but I think just some bad luck with the refs. All the best Sam and can't wait to see next season.
    p.s. oops forgot to add this: nice poke-check Sam!

    • @ThePuckStopsHere
      @ThePuckStopsHere  5 лет назад +1

      Some great advice in here for sure. We definitely improved as the season went on and I just wish that this was a best of 2 series. I think we would have beaten them if we played them again and then went to overtime to win the series. But nothing we can do now.

    • @ThePuckStopsHere
      @ThePuckStopsHere  5 лет назад

      Yeah, that 3rd one was tough to watch again when I was editing. If I didn't move my left leg, I wouldn't have opened my 5 hole and I would have stopped it. But I can't do anything about it now other than learn from it. And don't worry, I got more videos coming :) And unfortunately there is no cup or trophy lol. If we won this, we would have went to the facilities and then if we won we would have gotten a trophy. And if you didn't know, the facilities is a tournament where the winners from each division from each day of the week play each other for the division championship. So all the winners from C division play for the C cup, then the D teams play for the D cup and ect..
      It would have been fun playing in that for sure.

      Yeah he got a few lucky bounces go his way but he was surprisingly good considering how deep he played at times. I was surprised he was able to stop some of those corner shots being so deep.

    Snowing the goalie should not be a penalty because the coach tells you to stop in front of the net just in case of rebounds or the goalie messed up I'm a goalie my self and it pisses me off but I always thought that was a dum penalty

    Ever notice how it's always the players fault the puck goes in his net and not his own? He can never accept that he is responsible for stopping the ouck and puts the blame on his players.

      I’m pretty sure 99% of the goals that go in I take full responsibility for. Regardless if it is odd man rushes or deflections or open guys in front.
      I know it is always my fault if a puck goes in but sometimes I do look for more help from my team.

    Funny how that goalie made 41 saves and looked terrible on almost every one, good game though

      He made a few lucky saves. We just couldn't get any bounces to go our way.

    20:20 should have just hit him yourself and not hope the ref calls a penalty lol. I would have and none of your D did anything

    Good content but not a fan of the way you communicate on ice. I'd be annoyed with you if I was a teammate.

      Fair enough. One thing to consider is you may hear everything I am saying because of the video but my players may only hear a fraction as I am not talking to the same player every game. Most of them like when I communicate with them to let them know what I see. But to each their own :)
