    Definitely informative and helpful.. but it doesn't change anything about what I am going to do if I'm going for 18 series, which I am.
    Does wash out mean quit? Does it mean getting injured and put in med hold?

    • @JohnS677
      @JohnS677  3 года назад +1

      Wash out typically means you didn't make it for some reason. For me it was getting dropped during land nav.
      It really depends on what's going on when you get dropped (if you get dropped). Some guys stay 11B some guys get reclassed. In my experience no one got anything on there wish list it was all just whatever the army needed at that time.

      If that's what you want to do. Make sure you get airborne in your contract if that's what you want though, it's practically impossible to get it in the regular army unless you get lucky. That means Ranger Regiment guys, Airborne guys, 10th mountain guys, and soldiers from all around. AND THEY'RE ALL COMPETING WITH A 65 PERCENT ATTRITION RATE. These are experienced soldiers who know their shit and have combat deployments. These kids coming in off the streets don't stand a chance. The recruiters will literally give it to anyone. Why should they care? their numbers are getting boosted. Big army LOVES this contract because it keeps all of the shit jobs full of the guys who flunk the course. You might even make it through the entire course just to be a 21 day non-select. They'll tell you something like "come back when you have more experience" "or come back when you mature a bit more" or if you failed the psychological evaluation/background checks you'll get dropped with a do not return. boom dream dead and now you've traded 5 years of your life to make minimum wage as an airborne cook. this ain't the contract you want. If you wanna go sf pick up an 11x contract with airborne and volunteer for rasp in osut. Then if you feel like you wanna go further put in a selection packet once you're in. with that method you've just killed the possibility of being an airborne boiler mechanic or some shit.

      Just do it. First step is prepping for basic and getting an 18x contract with a recruiter.

      Tracy McBaby I’m 17 but I feel like it’s better to get 11x contract and then possibly transfer ,18x even if you pass all the training you still have to be selected and if your not then oh well

      @@a.j2368 yes, exactly. i competed a 5 year contract as 11b as i wasn't a citizen - once i passed the exam with the civilians (uncle sam likes telling lies [that i would gain citizenship within 4 months] it sucked me in) once in the army & assigned to a unit/post you can drop a packet. if you wash out, then you'll be reassigned to your old unit rather than as the needs of the army.

    Dont believe in 18X off the street SF guy. I served many years in group and dealt with what we refereed to as SF babies. Not mature enough to show up on a team

    Green Berets are supposed to be very clever...and yet here you are driving and looking down to make a youtube video...real smart.
    You're supposed to take people out with your rifle, not with your car.
