I went to San Francisco back in 2018 I believe. So it was nice to do a bit of revisiting with parts of your video. I wasn’t back into vinyl yet at that time so I don’t think I went to any record stores. I was having a hard time seeing the prices on the wall albums but it was easier to see them when you were digging. Nice trip and finds! Hello to Sean😁

Enjoyed the shots of San Francisco. I'm reminded of one of my favorite movies in Vertigo. It looked like a cool record store and a nice lunch spot. You picked up some psych rock that I look for when I remember in the Count Five and The Electric Prunes and you did get your Bauhaus.
The Bobby Whitlock is pretty good, too. It was in the dollar bin, mint, and a 2013 re issue. Sean was anxious to see the sights, so I didn't have enough time to dig underneath. Are you traveling this late summer/ fall, Randy ?

It's getting pricy, Steph.. I get records here in town for very inexpensive to an all-around good deal often. I just picked up an original The The Soul Mining" sealed for 10 dollars and PJ Harvey C'mon Billy EP with poster and 7" for 15 dollars at Salvation Army ! Both are worth 3 times more ! I like to support indie shops from time to time, then.. Go back out into the wild ! Haha 🎵 Pin Ups is a terrific record !!!

When we're over that way we like to stay around Mill Valley. Went over the Oakland bridge back in March to Napa. Tunnel Records is a neat shop. Thanks for taking us along, JT!

What a tour JT! I never made it up to San Francisco when we lived in HB. The prices looked a little steep for me at Tunnel Records. Ramen time! That looks so delicious!
The cool thing was.. The mgr. gave me the San Francisco 1970 comp , and the Bobby Whitlock was 1 dollar. ( 12 to 15 normally ) So, it averaged out, and every now and then, I like to support and promote record shops ! Thanks, Mike
Price of records has gone up in general over the last few years now that vinyl is hip again, but there's still good stuff to be found if you dig deep enough
Absolutely ! I like supporting record stores on occasion, but.. In my region, I find amazingly good cheap vinyl consistently ( knock on wood ). Thrifting, 2nd hand, storage lockers and asking folks.. " Do you have any records?" Resourcefulness is key. Thanks for checking this one out !

Looks like a nice size store. Not a get lost in it type like Amoeba! I've been a little Galaxie 500 kick lately. I'll be your only viewer who got in a wreck on the Golden Gate Bridge. Back around 1980, mid span, totaled the car and my right wrist has permanent limited ROM.
Oh man.. Bummer ! Right.. Good point about smaller shops are sometimes better, I did get sucked up into the abyss in Amoeba last visit ! I will pick up a copy of "Today" as well pretty soon for Galaxie 500.. Luna is very cool as well as I'm sure you know !

Yes, I used to shop at Rasputin as well ! Great store with a huge inventory. I would stop into the Vallejo store, I don't think I ever went to the one in the city. Amoeba SF took over that status. Hope your winter is going well, Cristian, and thanks again, bro 👍

The prices were alright, although the Galaxie 500 LP was a little steep compared to online. The dollar bins were very good, Sean always gets excited to move on when I'm digging away.. Flipper and Avengers are very cool, indeed !

Rare Bird " Epic Forest" on Polydor 1970 Proggressive Psych Rock from England.. 10 dollars at Salvation Army ! I've been looking for another Rare Bird record 👍

Great trip Jt. Takes me back in time when Jan and I did the PCH a few years back, and spent 3 nights in SF. I think Mazzy featured Tunnel Records in a video a while back. Those prices will tend to really limit your buys. I would have been tempted by those Buckley albums. Cheers.

Beautiful tunnel ride Which Side is Oakland where we use to play 3-2 !!! I never heard of the Robin Williams tunnel? I heard of the Golden gate Bridge!!!! I thought Oakland was connected to SF? what A'm I missing? Sunset District , in your opinion is Mob Rules worth having on 3 formats CD , Cassette and the record club 8 track? I know you didn't have any but for other fans is Mob rules worth 3 Formats? I like the album to the left of it? so in the Sunset District how far were you from where the Giants and 49ers play?
The Robin Williams Tunnel is only 2 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge towards Marin County. It used to be called Rainbow Tunnel until Marin made it the Robin Williams Memorial Tunnel.
I would loved to go to San Francisco. There was some amazing records on the wall of pain. That Boomgates record you skipped is a great Aus indie rock band fronted by Brendan of Eddy Current Suppression Ring. Love Electric Prunes, Count Five, Galaxie 500 & of course Bauhaus. Cheers...Ben

Dang, I had Tunnel on my list to hit up, but the timing didn't quite work. I guess I gotta return next year. Do you happen to have a shareable list of all the record stores you've hit up in your adventures? I have a Google Map that I put together, so I'll look at making that public and throwing it in the descriptions of any future record store tours.

Hi JT. Some of the prices of the records on the wall were a bit high! I thought you might have got one or two of the Tim Buckley records. I bought the 'I Can't See You' EP when it came out, as the tracks had never been released before. If it was in mint condition, $15 is a fair price. You also passed on the Groundhogs' 'Who Will Save The World'.
@carltweed942 I believe I have Groundhogs from my UK vinyl Haul. I was tempted to buy the Tim Buckley demos.. I was concerned with it being too lo fi ? Also.. the other Tim Buckleys were not in great shape.. The demos LP was sealed ! 15 USD. I wanted more time in store, but Sean was so excited to move on to Japantown 🌐

He lives close and right near Originals Vinyl up on Fillmore and Hayes. If I had his contact, still it would have been fun for him to join me there ! SF is 200 miles from Reno, with Sacramento right in between.. A close journey for distances out west !
Yeah.. Buffalo Killers ! I worked with Greg Shaw's son, Mike at Harrah's here in Reno.. He turned me on to them and gave me two Cd's that were his Mom and Dad's along with other Bomp! music back in 2009 or so.. Thanks !
Hey Craig ! Grateful Dead albums are pricy everywhere ! That " 3 From The Vault" is a 3 or 4 record set, I would never pay up for these new releases. Back in 2005 or so, I could have sent an external hard drive to our friends in Berkeley.. And 100 USD and Bob would have burned every single Dead show from Dan Healy's sound board since 1965 ! The point being, it's become a money-making monster. I have many Cd box sets that will suffice ! And there's plenty of free streaming available online and RUclips 👍
Craig, If you have a chance.. type in Grateful Dead 10/10/80 Warfield Theatre San Francisco and listen to Jack Straw into an amazing Scarlet Begonias / Fire On The Mountain. The transition between Scarlet and Fire is my favorite, and it's only available as a free share online !

When we're over that way we like to stay around Mill Valley. Went over the Oakland bridge back in March to Napa. Tunnel Records is a neat shop. Thanks for taking us along, JT!

What a tour JT! I never made it up to San Francisco when we lived in HB. The prices looked a little steep for me at Tunnel Records. Ramen time! That looks so delicious!
The cool thing was.. The mgr. gave me the San Francisco 1970 comp , and the Bobby Whitlock was 1 dollar. ( 12 to 15 normally ) So, it averaged out, and every now and then, I like to support and promote record shops ! Thanks, Mike
Price of records has gone up in general over the last few years now that vinyl is hip again, but there's still good stuff to be found if you dig deep enough
Absolutely ! I like supporting record stores on occasion, but.. In my region, I find amazingly good cheap vinyl consistently ( knock on wood ). Thrifting, 2nd hand, storage lockers and asking folks.. " Do you have any records?" Resourcefulness is key. Thanks for checking this one out !

I filmed a bunch of Fishermans wharf footage on my Amoeba Records video, I'm pretty sure. I do enjoy these trips out to the Bay Area ! Thank you..Tunnel is a good shop, and so is Originals Vinyl up on Fillmore

I'll be your only viewer who got in a wreck on the Golden Gate Bridge. Back around 1980, mid span, totaled the car and my right wrist has permanent limited ROM.
Oh man.. Bummer ! Right.. Good point about smaller shops are sometimes better, I did get sucked up into the abyss in Amoeba last visit ! I will pick up a copy of "Today" as well pretty soon for Galaxie 500.. Luna is very cool as well as I'm sure you know !

Yes, I used to shop at Rasputin as well ! Great store with a huge inventory. I would stop into the Vallejo store, I don't think I ever went to the one in the city. Amoeba SF took over that status. Hope your winter is going well, Cristian, and thanks again, bro 👍

They had a lot of great albums. Big fan of the Flipper album and the Barrett Opel. Prices looked d3cent also
The prices were alright, although the Galaxie 500 LP was a little steep compared to online. The dollar bins were very good, Sean always gets excited to move on when I'm digging away.. Flipper and Avengers are very cool, indeed !

The San Francisco sampler was a gift from the mgr. and that Bobby Whitlock was in the dollar bin.. mint 2013 re issue ! My best find was after work yesterday. Rare Bird " Epic Forest" on Polydor 1970 Proggressive Psych Rock from England.. 10 dollars at Salvation Army ! I've been looking for another Rare Bird record 👍

Great trip Jt. Takes me back in time when Jan and I did the PCH a few years back, and spent 3 nights in SF. I think Mazzy featured Tunnel Records in a video a while back. Those prices will tend to really limit your buys. I would have been tempted by those Buckley albums. Cheers.
Marcus from Sonic Safari was the one who turned me on to Tunnel Records. He folded his channel a while back.. I really liked his content, and he lives right behind Originals Vinyl up on Fillmore. Too bad I didn't know how to get a hold of him. Thanks, Jack and for the shout-out on yours !

Hey Mark ! Thanks for looking in. So.. Oakland is across the bay from SF, and the bay bridge connects both cities
I like Mob Rules, and I have a copy on Cd and vinyl. I think it's worth having on multiple formats.
The Sunset District is 50 miles to Santa Clara, where the 49ers moved, and only 5 miles to Oracle Park for my SF Giants !
The Robin Williams Tunnel is only 2 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge towards Marin County. It used to be called Rainbow Tunnel until Marin made it the Robin Williams Memorial Tunnel.

I would loved to go to San Francisco. There was some amazing records on the wall of pain. That Boomgates record you skipped is a great Aus indie rock band fronted by Brendan of Eddy Current Suppression Ring. Love Electric Prunes, Count Five, Galaxie 500 & of course Bauhaus. Cheers...Ben

Dang, I had Tunnel on my list to hit up, but the timing didn't quite work. I guess I gotta return next year. Do you happen to have a shareable list of all the record stores you've hit up in your adventures? I have a Google Map that I put together, so I'll look at making that public and throwing it in the descriptions of any future record store tours.

Hi JT. Some of the prices of the records on the wall were a bit high! I thought you might have got one or two of the Tim Buckley records. I bought the 'I Can't See You' EP when it came out, as the tracks had never been released before. If it was in mint condition, $15 is a fair price. You also passed on the Groundhogs' 'Who Will Save The World'.
@carltweed942 I believe I have Groundhogs from my UK vinyl Haul. I was tempted to buy the Tim Buckley demos.. I was concerned with it being too lo fi ? Also.. the other Tim Buckleys were not in great shape.. The demos LP was sealed ! 15 USD. I wanted more time in store, but Sean was so excited to move on to Japantown 🌐

I don't recollect Mazzy's video or mention of Tunnel.. A channel that is no longer called Sonic Safari .. Marcus turned me onto it. He lives close and right near Originals Vinyl up on Fillmore and Hayes. If I had his contact, still it would have been fun for him to join me there ! SF is 200 miles from Reno, with Sacramento right in between.. A close journey for distances out west !

Yeah.. Buffalo Killers ! I worked with Greg Shaw's son, Mike at Harrah's here in Reno.. He turned me on to them and gave me two Cd's that were his Mom and Dad's along with other Bomp! music back in 2009 or so.. Thanks !

Hey Craig ! Grateful Dead albums are pricy everywhere ! That " 3 From The Vault" is a 3 or 4 record set, I would never pay up for these new releases. Back in 2005 or so, I could have sent an external hard drive to our friends in Berkeley.. And 100 USD and Bob would have burned every single Dead show from Dan Healy's sound board since 1965 ! The point being, it's become a money-making monster. I have many Cd box sets that will suffice ! And there's plenty of free streaming available online and RUclips 👍
Craig, If you have a chance.. type in Grateful Dead 10/10/80 Warfield Theatre San Francisco and listen to Jack Straw into an amazing Scarlet Begonias / Fire On The Mountain. The transition between Scarlet and Fire is my favorite, and it's only available as a free share online !
