Hey there JT, I had a feeling today. I hit another jackpot including some records I've wanted for a long time. 15 records for $5.25!! Including the eagles, foreigner, supertramp, jim croce, cheap trick, and styx. Gotta love the thrill of the hunt!!
Too cool ! I'm online before work today.. I really go on hunches a lot, and I like that you mentioned 'having a feeling" as timing is almost everything . You did better than me on my latest, yesterday back at Bill's 16 for 65.00.. 4 dollars per record. Congrats on this haul, and good luck out there in the real wild ! Thanks, Jake
Great PJ! Love that Rare Bird cover! The The!!! Matt Johnson is awesome!!! I love that Johnny Rivers album. I picked up both Whisky A Go Go albums in mint condition digging at the storage. There’s a bunch of minty Lani Hall records at the storage. Mendes/66 is a must, iconic and highly underrated. Top notch live Reggae. Burning’s voice is fire 🔥 Great place to bust out that Big Bambu rolling paper! 😂 💨
You're right, and I didn't tie in.. Or twist up a big bambu bomber for the Wailers show ! 😆 I was surprised for sure to see the rolling paper intact in that gatefold ! Mitchell Brunings 3 min. performance of Redemption Song" went viral from The Voice / Holland ✌️
By the way.. The J Rivers LP on Imperial played and sounded amazing ! Flat and quiet , beautiful shiny wax. My best sounding Johnny Rivers LP that I own.
Nice, Jt! PJ Harvey at the Salvation Army...hey, that rhymes! Artist comps from other countries can have some surprising tracks. Johnny Rivers, I'm always on the lookout for. Great concert clips on a beautiful day. 😎🎶
I'm pleased that you appreciate Johnny Rivers, and that was such a fun show at the Rib Cook-Off. Junior Marvins Wailers band was even better this year with this sensational new singer ! Thanks, Ed
Hi John, you’ve made me remember Rare Bird, another great London band of the late 60’s, they even had a hit single called Sympathy, listening again brought back many memories, it’s on their first album too, very thought provoking lyrics that still resonates!
Hello, Roy ! Rare Bird is popular in the vinyl community. I first was reminded about them from several channels about 4 or 5 years ago. If I had bought an album by them in the early 70's it would have been a blind-buy.. And a good one at that ! I don't think they got any publicity over here in the US ( Probably in the large cities, though )
Amazing pick -ups. I remember my older sister having that Johnny Rivers album and playing it to death. It's a wonderful record. Going to look into Rare Bird 's music after watching this. Had no idea Sparks was named after the sparks from the railroad trains. Thanks for all the interesting historical info which I enjoy learning about. Such beautiful blue skies out there. Go Giants!
Hi Rm.. When you listen to Rare Bird, please check out the first 3 tracks on "Epic Forest" .. Captivating and all three are quite different from the others. Johnny Rivers is terrific, and that night, my lady friend's ex.. Terry Reid was up onstage at The Joint ( 2002 ) with Jack Tempchin ( Peaceful Easy Feeling ) and Waddy Wachtel, Stan Lynch and Johnny stole the show with Secret Agent Man and The Midnight Special !
I was jealous even before I clicked play! Wow, that PJ Harvey!! I have never seen that Neil Young LP. I need Dusk by The The as well. I hope it is reissued. Excellent finds again.
It was Salvation Army in there pricier section where the PJ Harvey EP was. Often , they underprice the good records, like that one ! The Neil LP is really fun and a terrific playlist of songs, including Southern Pacific from Reactor. Thanks
Hi JT! Rare Bird is a brand new one to me. I have The The Infected, but on compact disc. Lani Hall...I have that album. Mrs. Herb Alpert! I have that Brasil 66 record and it is in near mint condition. Love it! Great deal on that Jason Isbell record! I saw him live in /23. Excellent guitarist as well. A Rib Cook Off and The Wailers...count me in for that event! Wow!
Epic Forest for Rare Bird , the 1st 3 tracks are a good place to start for this under the radar band ! It's good to have a very clean copy of 'The Green Album" Brasil 66 ! I have several mono's stereo's and I used to send them out with other records as VCLT. The The Dusk is the hard one to get, and I bet it will get re issued soon, hopefully. Thanks, Mike
I am so glad I have gotten into Jason Isbell .. Not to long ago I picked up my first Jason Isbell’s album ‘The Nashville Sound’. I am always on the hunt for more when I go digging..
Hi! My name is Amie and I met you yesterday in my everyday record hunting. You told me about this so I thought I would check it out. I love thrift store hunting because you never know what you're going to find. This is great! You get a big thumbs up! j
Hello ! Somehow I didn't see your message until now. Good luck out there, the key is to keep checking in to the same shops, and go on intuition, as if your going to find good records ! Also ask.. "Do You have any more records" ? Really works ! Thanks for checking my channel out..
Hey JT I always learn more about bands that I’ve never listened to by watching your channel.. I will need to check out ‘ The The and Rare Bird’ great finds as usual JT. Enjoy your latest finds my friend. Take care and God bless.
Stream "Love Is Stronger Than Pride" an amazing song from 93 on the album Dusk for The The. And Epic Forest .. the 3rd album from Rare Bird would be an enjoyable listen streaming from start to finish !
Hi Jt, That's one of the cleanest, well-organized thrift shops I've seen. Great PJ Harvey pick for the price! Love that The The album. Those old, family-owned, non-chain Italian restaurants are the best. I've never seen that Neil Young album before. Very cool. I'll check out "Rare Bird." Great price on the Jason Isbell album I own. It's excellent. Have a great weekend.
I've had very good luck in going back to this thrift store ! Mrs Casale past away a few years back, and the Lasagna isn't the same, anymore. For Rare Bird, listen to the first 3 tracks on Epic Forest, my favorite, so far ! Talk soon
Harris, always good to hear from you. I know.. C Mon Billy, I freaked when I pulled it from the bin at Salvation Army, and that sealed The The was a trip to find in the same thrift shop as well..
I guess you have some Rare Bird, they are an incredibly great band, and that Neil is really unusual.. Southern Pacific was a good listen and of course good lyrics ! Thanks, Walter
@stevebender4546 You're gonna like 'em. I remember Dillon is big on them, Steve and Epic Forest, their 3rd album.. If you stream the first 3 tracks, that will seal the deal !! Thanks, man ✌️
Hi JT!!! Another awesome thift experience ahd cool finds/additions to the collection...... know about Cheech & Chong "career" but had no idea they put out records and that one with "complete insert" lol... Nice PJ Harvey, Neil Young and The The stuff too, plus the Waillers sounds cool too. cheers and be well
Yeah. I hope The Wailers come back again next year, it is a free show, and Foghat played on Saturday night. I heard they were great, even without Lonesome Dave Peverett, who passed away in 2000. When we were kids, many of us rolled a giant bomber out of that big bambu !! 😛 Nos vemos luego, Cristian
Yeah, Lani has a smooth and silky vocal style, for sure ! I spun that Johnny Rivers 55 yr.old plus record, never opened, it played beautifully ! Thanks, Doug
That's my style too, Richie. That Johnny Rivers is so squeaky new. It's the best sounding record I have ever had of his .. Seventh Son and Parchman Farm are terrific on it !
Yes ! Rare Bird, good one, surprised those releases made it to the USA 😃...The Wailers still sounding good, even with the new singer. Try find the album 'Mind Bomb' by The The if you don't have it.
Thanks for watching, I do have Mind Bomb on Cd, and someday, I'm sure I will run into a good copy on vinyl. Mitchell Brunings.. check out his 3 min performance of Redemption Song on The Voice from Holland ! Cheers from Nevada 🎵
Hey Jt. Very nice Rare Bird finds. I’m looking for the second album of theirs you showed. I need to check out Martha Velez. RIP Sergio. Nice price on the Isbell. Good luck at Bill’s. Cheers.
Those Martha Velez are inexpensive, even my sealed copy was 8.00 USD I think ? Epic Forest Rare Bird is so so good, I like it more than the 2nd LP... so far !
I spun the Johnny Rivers, it played dead quiet and no warp at all ! Such a fun record.. Seventh Son, Parchman Farm and he is an excellent songwriter with Poor Side Of Town and many other tunes, I'm sure you know.. Thank you
"I guess people know I like records" that has to be the understatement of the year Jt 😂 I like your copy of Stoneage Romeos hiding in the background. Nice PJ. I have all of her albums. Brilliant! NY is the man. Soul Mining & Infected are rippers too. I haven't had a chance to hear the new album yet. The Wailers sound good. I was very lucky on my first trip to Japan about 10 years ago I got to see Lee Perry at Fuji Rock. Cheers...Ben
So.. I just got back from Bill's for the first time in quite a while. I picked up 3 Neil LP's " This Notes For You" and an upgrade to my Reactor copy and Neil & The Shocking Pinks ! Also.. Terry Knight & The Pack on Lucky Eleven records ! I definitely do like records, as do all of our amigos ! 🤠 Yee haw !!
Lee Perry is on that Martha Velez LP, as is Bob and Rita and Al Anderson. It's pretty darn good, and I'm curious about her debut with a host of fine players on it.
Weathervanes ships without shrink wrap. Most of his latest releases ship in open sleeves with hype stickers. Someone most likely took it out of the sleeve. Great score!
Great video. I'm new to the VC and came to your channel via Josh at JC. He had great things to say about you. I posted my first video about 3 weeks ago and Josh was one of the first people that subbed and commented. Love Rare Bird. The song "This Is The Day" by "The The" is one of my faves. Some nice pickups. I just subbed to your channel and look forward to your next video. Cheers. Bobby
It was interesting to hear about Sparks, Nevada name origins. I still need to get Soul Mining and have been looking for a while. My copy of Infected has a different cover. Martha Velez is a new one for me. Jason Isbell is maybe the best current songwriter. Great finds.
I was so lucky to find a sealed Soul Mining at Salvation Army. The clerk said that he had just put it out ! I hope they preserve the giant old train roundhouse next to the Nugget Hotel that I drove by on interstate 80 in my video intro. The Union Pacific is threatening to tear it down for more parking ! Yuk !! 🤒
Ola, Thiago ! Im doing well. I'm at work right now. These are my latest finds, almost ! I went to Bill's garage last evening on my way home. Thanks for watching ✌️
Southern Pacific off Reactor. I just picked up a mint condish Reactor for $5 here in the Northeast. It was the first Neil lp I ever bought circa 1981, but I lost that one somewhere along the way. Oddly enough, one of my favorite Neil albums. It has a punk rock vibe.
Such a coincidence, I was just a Bill's and picked up a cleaner copy of Reactor in the shrink for 5.00 as well ! It is good, and Southern Pacific is a joy to rediscover !
I never see a deal at Target. Good Isbell album. The The is a fun group. Everyone is opening up all those sealed records due to hazing. Have you checked any of yours?
I haven't had any issues at all, Steve. I opened that Johnny Rivers and it was so perfect , I marveled that it was like buying the record in 1966 ! Inner plastic junkie sleeves need to go, for sure !
Nice finds, it's funny I must go after you've been because I never (or very rarely) find anything interesting at the Slavation Army. Though I need to check out Bill's Garage it seems. Today, I did a garage records sale in Sparks, came up with 27 records at $2 a piece. Not bad. But boy, we were in the sun and it was hot. I was getting worried about the records actually but they are ok. Plus at 2pm, someone went to pick up everything that was left, luckily I was done by then. Got a few Dire Straits (mostly in hope of better copies), some Paul Simon, Bowie - Changes and a discovery for me Atomic Rooster (I streamed it it's really good, a little in the vein of Iron Butterfly). First big haul in a long long time.. Ok, going to check your other videos
@@jtsrecordroom3963 yes, NW Reno to be precise. I wanted to ask your opinions on the record stores here... apart from Recycled Records, I don't know much and they're ok but it's good to know of other places. There used to be one on Wells but it shut down.
In my last message, I mentioned EP Listening Lounge on Wells & Vassar. Graham has good records in those bins. The old store on Wells was Spectre Records, which is in the new Junkees now, on 1st and Virginia. E mail me on my home page, and I will give you my # personal.
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Thank you for your kind message. I actually passed by EP Listening Lounge today (got curious) but couldn't stop, at least I know now where it is. Will contact you directly for sure. Cheers.
Seals and Croft !!!! I see a sighn for Budweiser and Coke 2 great drinks!!!! Am I missing something how is a 1970's album Seals and Croft 1.00 and a 1995 album P J Harvey 10.00? I could see Seals and Croft a 1.00 and Earth Wind and Fire 10.00 but Pj Harvey from 1995 what am I missing? Neil Young , Rare Bird , Johnny Rivers ,
You're not missing anything. That PJ Harvey is a 30 dollar record that I bought at Salvation Army for 9 dollars, and Seals & Crofts was 1 dollar from the woman who showed me a stack of her personal records. You heard it right.
I know ! I usually show the food. We were too busy scarfing the good ribs down, and Chicago BBQ was the best and our local Brothers BBQ was outstanding.. 5 minutes from my work !
In my region here in Northern Nevada, It takes diligence, patience, and meeting people to connect with good records in the real wild ! Thanks for watching..
JT, do you think Neil Young has ever used conditioner in his hair? Maybe he digs the dry look. I'm going to see The The live in October. Always a great band live and a 100% quality performance.
Haha.. Back then, I don't think he did anything to his hair, and probably skipped washings now and again. My hair was much longer by 1972 than Neil's ! Matt Johnson is The Man ! Enjoy the show..
You like records? I didn't know that JT. I would have bought the Village People if it was in good condition! I don't think I've ever seen that album. I can remember Tony Blackburn (famous radio DJ who started out on the pirate ship Radio Caroline and joined BBC Radio 1 in 67) picking 'YMCA' as his record of the week. I have a 10-inch record by June Christy from the mid-50s. You missed 'The Many Voices Of Miriam Makeba' (although the sleeve has a lot of wear). That Johnny Rivers LP came alive when you took off the grubby shrink. That Martha Velez sounds interesting.
@@carltweed942 I had never seen that particular Village People, either. It wasn't in good shape at all. They do have some very good deep tracks which surprised me a few years back.
I listened to Miriam Makeba just now, that is a beautiful record, too bad I didn't notice and it was pretty shabby, anyway. I appreciate you noticing during my flips !
Thank you for the good wishes.. I am 20 miles northeast of the Mt. Rose Highway fire. A customer yesterday said the fire came within 50 yards of her home in St. James Village !
I can't believe you didn't say hi to Johnny. I bet he would have appreciated it. What an artist. At least one lp in the Rolling Stone Top 500 Rock lps of all time. I bet he was a Mary Underground fan! I bet you were afraid that he was going to give you a number and take away your name!
That night, I was with Terry Reids ex wife, Lynn.. Tery performed, along with Jack Tempchin, Waddy Wachtel, and Stan Lynch ( Tom Pettys drummer ). After the gig, we were all backstage, and everybody was laughing and having fun, and I was standing right in front of Johnny ! I was tongue-tied and never spoke to him. This was 2002.. He looked great, and he did 3 songs.. Secret Agent Man, Midnight Special and his Poor Side Of Town. Oh well.. 😮💨This was an ongoing open Mike night at The Joint in LA. Lynn is one of my best friends, her celebrity experiences never cease to amaze me !

Are you here in Reno ? There are a lot of places here in Reno/ Sparks to go digging for records !
Cheers.
Anytime ! We should chat on the phone a bit.
If only I could ever find any records worth buying at a thrift store it would be a first.
If I was in your area, I would take little road trips to break up the dry spell, and ask people.. Do you have any records that you want to sell ?
Wow never seen a neil young greatest hits before
There are a few, but.. This is a rare one, and I love that deep track, "Southern Pacific"
I’m surprised thrift stores don’t stock more (beaten up) Nana Mouskouri records… times have certainly changed. Good finds just the same J.t
Harry, there are plenty of those, definitely.. Back to Bill's after work. The first time in a couple of months, as I used to go every two weeks
You heard it right.
couple cool things in there dude. man ya show the wailers but dont show any RIBS?!?!? c’mon dude.
I know ! I usually show the food. We were too busy scarfing the good ribs down, and Chicago BBQ was the best and our local Brothers BBQ was outstanding.. 5 minutes from my work !
Nice finds - the charity shops in the U.K. are mostly junk unfortunately 😢
In my region here in Northern Nevada, It takes diligence, patience, and meeting people to connect with good records in the real wild ! Thanks for watching..
@@jtsrecordroom3963 hahah I have no patience or diligence!
Too funny, and I get it ! Good thing for curated record shops, and online ☺️
For $1 you should have picked up Village People. That is if you don’t have it.
Yeah, Rich.. It was a little shabby, even though I don't have that one.. Next time !
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Never pick up a shabby record.
Nope, not ever !
Miriam Makeba, I will go back in the vid and have a look ! Thanks, Carl
I listened to Miriam Makeba just now, that is a beautiful record, too bad I didn't notice and it was pretty shabby, anyway. I appreciate you noticing during my flips !
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Miriam Makeba had a beautiful tone to her voice.
Are you close to the Davis fire? Hoping you and your loved ones are safe.
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Wow. That would have been a night to remember! Awesome that those folks would show up at an Open Mic too!
