I Have been changing oil in my Trucks,Cars,ATV, Motorcycles for 30 plus years. 1st you don't need to use a tool to install a oil filter, use your Hands, 2nd punch an hole in the bottom of the old filter to drain the filter, this will lessen 95 % of the mess! just a few ideals to help people out.

There is absolutely no way I would run oil that long. Even amsoil.

I’m running the same oil in my 18 Silverado. Just curious how long it took you to hit that 17k? It would take me 2 years to put 17k on mine. 🤣

I believe this was pre covid and when I was commuting pretty heavy so I would guess it was around 6 months.

Lol. Don't plan to keep it long term I'm guessing? You know that's the #1 cause of lifter failure and vacuum pump failure (your brake assist) right. I wouldn't go past 5-7000 miles (depending on driving habits) no matter what oil you use... It's your truck, but I'd certainly would not. Hopefully your doing routine oil analysis and keeping all your documents so when the engine grenades you can at least hope amsoil stands by their "claimed" warranty.

Do you think is necessary an oil catch can? I have the 2018 z71 and many say it is recommended... Thanks...

Absolutely!!! I have one on my 17 Sierra. The amount of crap it catches in a month is ridiculous.
