Pairing Ciara, the woman with the Alcohol Stone Face, with Lolsy, whose varied face contortions are well known, was a stroke of genius.

Also pairing MC with James is fucking brilliant. MC has the same face of "meh, could'a been worse" like Ciara. And James has the facial scrunches like Lolsy, but with more virulent commentary.

"it taste like a condiment", the Chinese one literally is a condiment used for cooking such as steaming fish or poaching meat.
I think I used that wine for cooking the other day, tried it and thought in an Irish accent, "fook me, that's a bit rich".
I dont think one is supposed to drink Chinese wine
Theres two major version of Shaoxing wine from this brand, one with salt is made for cooking which is better known to the public.
The one without salt is a bit more expensive (still only cost around $10) and is made for drinking, both bottle share a really similar design, but the bottle should specify if it is for cooking or drinking.
@@sunnyiong4795 The one they had is for cooking. But yeah also the version for drinking has a very special taste. It also makes you incredibly drunk, although it has only around 20%. It has something to do with the way it is made. Instead of just distilling it, Shaoxing Jiu (wine) is also fermented.

That Chinese rice wine is a cooking wine for us. When i was small, my mom used to cook with it and i always take a lil sip. I personally feel it's a bit awful too. But when you cook with it, it tastes great! Trust me.
That's what you use for cooking stir fry, and yes in a small amount it really does help with the flavor of the dish.

As someone who’s drunk that brand of ume plum wine several times, it really is like apple juice. Very sweet. And I am weak sauce at handling hard liquor.
They didn't give them Soju and gave them cooking wine.

Btw, many people would boil rice, strain it, then add milk and sugar to the water and drink it!
They'd also mix the boiled rice, with milk and sugar and eat it!
Sometimes they'd even steam the rice and eat it with milk and sugar; I used to like this one as a child 😊

I don't think that you know anything much about cooking rice! If you've boiled rice and there is no water remaining in the pot to be strained, then YOU have done something wrong!
When boiling rice you would use plenty water to cook it and then strain out the remaining water.
When steaming rice, you would use less water, (only an inch above the rice in the pot) so after it has been cooked there won't be any remaining water in the rice!
I've watched every single "alcohol" video, and NOTHING bothers Ciara, That woman is a stone cold BEAST when it comes to drinking! Love her!

As an "Asian", this is quite a horrible representation. Its 3 drinks in Japan, a Chinese cooking ingredient (literally), and a Korean drink meant for grandpa's that's so exotic even grandpa's rarely drink.
It's like "Asians try European Alcohol" and they're given balsamic vinegar and scorpion vodka, precisely hahaha
"East Asian" countries have many alcoholic drinks that iconically represent each country and this is very misrepresented (maybe Japan's better but barely).
There's nothing I like more after a hard day at work than a nice glass of balsamic vinegar on the rocks.

The particular Chinese Rice Wine in the video is usually used for cooking or marinating meats and fish. The Korean Ginseng Drink is usually used as part of some herbal tonic for nourishing and not as a beverage.
Dermot pouring himself a full glass of whatever is put in front of him is too real.

I can't hear who hurt you at normal speed but when I saw this comment about it, I replayed the video at 2x speed, because I wasn't sure where it happened, and heard it that way then but every time I replay it at normal speed up to 1.75, it sounds like you're a jew. 1.75x and 2x both sound like who hurt you. I don't know what any of this means. I wonder if she's saying a third completely different thing, if I listen to it at slower speeds.
6:54 do not drink that, that is for cooking. There is one of this kind that is for drinking. Make sure you warming it up first.

Shaoxing ist a town in China popular for rice wine production. Abroad Shaoxing is used for crappy cooking wine, whereas is usually is the term for a region (like champagne for example). Wikipedia will be a quick place to check up on what I said, but this is also pretty much what my pohpoh taught me.

Yeah if I remember correctly I use that Chinese rice wine for if I want some extra flavor in my noodle soup, it really does a nice job if the noodle soup you have is light and somewhat on the blander side of things

A chance was missed here by not serving chinese baijiu. It’s something that’s really common in china but has a very particular taste. It usually doesn’t go down well on the first try so it would have been a lot of fun to watch.

I can see Dermot's point. He is accustomed to drinking high proof ( Whiskey or Whisky? He's Irish.) Whiskey. The regular stuff is 40%. The barrel proof Whiskey is at or above 50%.

When coming with wine or any alcohol generally the notes and times you're starting to put in for are generally the notes you enjoy when drinking wine. However when looking at other cuisine I can understand if that truth is not universal.

The drink selection feel like it was a last minute notice and whoever it is that got the job of getting the alcohol just when to any Asian market and go ooh look Asian alcohol section. There’s so much more better choices of alcoholic drinks.

Austria had a major wine industry scandal in the 80s where they used a little bit of antifreeze to sweeten their wines.
In a video of the Irish try strongest American Spirits she took two hits from 95 horsepower Grain Alcohol without batting an eye...and apparently that was her first Irish Try alcohol shoot.
I would also encourage you guys to try Korean pear liquor, and blackberry wine, remember Koreans drink even more than the Irish annually.

A friend who is an amateur wine maker decided to have a go at making Sake. It was awesomely strong and tasted great. But the hangover was pretty brutal.
That first sake is my fav go to sake I always order when I eat sushi. I love that stuff it's so smooth
