I've owned a pre-Invicta 42mm Airman, Base 22 model for many years. It's replaced my GMT Master of 40-years as my go to everyday international pilot's watch. I typically flew LAX to HKG and LHR and this is the only watch [other than a world time] that tracks three time zones simultaneously. On my Airman the GMT hand is painted red, so no confusing it with the minute hand. It also has drilled lugs, a nice feature that Glycine dropped for some unknown reason. Also, the Base 22 model has 200M water resistance, it's only 11mm thin and historically, it preceded the Rolex GMT Master by a year. IMHO it's just as iconic, and I own both.
Fantastic comment thanks! Great to get the first hand use experience. Interesting thoughts regarding the GMT Master. There's a lot of interest in the Glycine. I may get the Glycine history book, quite available online. Thanks!

I'm a big fan of Glycines. I've got two Combat Subs and they're both great. After seeing this reviews I think that I'll have a third Glycine pretty soon! Thanks for the great review!
I recently bought this watch and find your channel, I am looking for GMT watch for long time too. In the final battle, I compare this with Laco Pilot Frankfurt GMT and I finally choose Glycine, I love its history background and the vintage design. Laco is also look really nice and with the great function but is double price of this one. I believe the movement they are using is SW330.
I have the purist model of this from Gnomon also. The movement should be a Sellita SW330-1. Both use the same , the purist just puts the hour hand on the GMT part of the pinion and does away with the fourth gmt hand.
I'm putting my eyes on the 40mm diameter GL1048 quartz, is this the same one but automatic? What is the lug2lug length sir? Because my wrist is small at only 6.25 inch
No it is different. The dials are different if you look closely. They have such a vast catalogue it can be confusing. Mine is the GL0472 and the lug to lug is 49mm
Do the newer ones comes with Sellita SW330-2. On some older models, it's still with SW330-1. I'll prefer the newer SW330-2 because of the longer 56 hrs power reserves.
With that particular model (with that movement), does the main hour hand also rotate on a 24h scale same as the GMT hand does (eg. local time noon the hand is pointing straight down)? I know the non-GMT purist models do, but I've heard conflicting things about the GMT models. Also if I can ask here did you find this one? Joma and Ashford seem to be constantly sold out (and never restock anymore).
This was through Gnomon Watches. I'm on their newsletter and it popped up. The main hour hand rotates as any non 24 hand would, so same positions as a normal dial. The GMT hand does a full rotation once every 24 hours. Quite clever
Was it worth ordering a watch in Singapore? Considering the shipping costs and import duties, I mean. I live in the Netherlands and once ordered a watch in America. That was very disappointing in terms of extra costs. It's been a while, but if I remember correctly, it added almost 30% in total.
So that bit that lays as an extension to the hour hand is nothing then ?, it's,hour, minute, second and another hour hand,I thought what I gather is a long hour hand,.I'm confused. What's the long bit then ?.
That's the GMT hand that points separately to the 24 numbers on the inner report and also to the 24 hour scale on the rotating Bezel. So that hand can track two further time zones. It rotates half speed to the main hour hand
Actually, as a professional international airline pilot who's owned a GMT Master for 40 years, the Airman is now my go to international GMT watch. I have an Airman Base 22 model similar to this reviewed watch. The hour hand rotates twice every 24-hours and the GMT hand, once every 24-hours. This watch will show THREE concurrent time zones. A Rolex GMT Master II will not (you have to rotate the bezel to do that. Plus, the GMT Master II does not have a quick set date, the Airman does). Also, on my Airman the GMT hand is painted red, so no confusing it with the minute hand.

Thanks for watching
this is a wonderful watch!
Yes, has it all

Thanks. It is a great watch. Does yours keep good time?
I feel very tempted by the green dial Bronze-like version. There is a distributor in NL.
Very good watches these I'd be tempted by the 36mm
Did you go for it? There's also 36mm versions

You know they are vague about the movement. Its not actually specified. I'll wind it and leave it one day, see if I get over 48 hrs

@@perfectwrist23if both main hour hands and gmt hands are moving in the 24 hour format i think that would be too much to handle
@@kostar500 They don't. The regular hour hand rotates once every 12-hours and the GMT hand once every 24-hours. Standard GMT watch format.

All seemed to be inclusive. No extra fees for duty or customs. I have paid extra from Japan and USA

May I ask you how much did you paid for the watch?
£664
This dial layout makes no sense. The regular hands are tracking 12hr time?
It is confusing. The regular hands move as normal but there aren't 12 hour markers
The purist version is 24 hr per rotation operation. But not the GMT version as far as I know
one rotation per day for an hour hand. 24 hrs in one “day”
same thing for gmt hand
same reason the basel in 24 hours marking 😅
@@perfectwrist23There absolutely are 12-hour markers, look again. Plus, on this Airman and my personal one, they are illuminated.

Yes, runs a bit quick but can adjust
