Someone else’s comment brings up their preference for a purist. In my opinion, the most important aspect of an Airman watch. However, you failed to mention this aspect about your watch. I have an Airman 7 Crosswise. I would also like a 24 hour function Glycine Airman. It is very frustrating for me to find that some Airman watches that have a 24 hour face AND bezel yet still are ridiculously 12 hour function watches. I would have appreciated hearing which function your watch falls under. Because it’s a GMT, I’m gonna bet it’s a 12 hour function.
This is a very interesting watch. They make a version of this specific watch with a black dial, which I prefer. I'm usually not into mesh bracelets, but for some reason it works on this watch. The watch has a very unique look to it. I'm also a fan of Glycine, I have three of their Combat Subs. I think I need to add this to my collection.
The red date numerals are a real nice touch, I must say. I like that you can buy this vintage watch, with modern specs and in a contemporary size! I’m gonna be critical about the 3 atm WR, I appreciate this isnt a dive piece, but in my opinion 5 atm should be the industry standard. Well more for piece of mind than anything. The lume is nice! This always something I can’t seem to remember: is this a so-called office gmt or a real gmt, like the watch nerds say? But the movement is good, power reserve is acceptable! A Caller GMT has a 24 hour hand that is set independently of the other hands. For example, the recently introduced Seiko 5KX GMT is a Caller GMT. When you pull it’s crown out to the first position, rotating it clockwise allows you to set the GMT hand in hour increments, on the 24 hour scale. Moving the crown out to the the second position, you can set the time displayed by the main hour and minute hands. As you do this, the 24 hour hand will follow. For someone in an office, this “Office” functionality is perfect. You are only worried about the time in one other location. For a “True” GMT, the functionality is different because the needs of the wearer have changed. Those seeking a “True” GMT aren’t just worried about keeping track of the time in one other place. They are constantly on the move (thus the traveller moniker) and need a watch that can keep up, easily. So instead of having an independent GMT hand, they have an independent hour hand. One of the most famous watches to have this functionality is the Rolex GMT Master II. It’s a watch that was created with pilots in mind. Since pilots constantly travelled between multiple time zones, they needed a tool which could display their time at home (or a reference time, such as UTC/ZULU). They also needed a watch that could easily be set to a new local time when they landed (without disturbing the home time displayed). By having an independent main hour hand, which can be jump set in hour increments, a “true” GMT best satisfied their needs. Regards, #WR4K
Excellent review, quick question for you; does the hour hand cycle thru once every 24 hours or does does it cycle thru twice per 12 hours? Love this piece and hands set that is used. Would prefer the GMT hand to be a red color to match the date wheel and possible a 2.5x cyclops.
Lovely watch, the Milanese bracelet is soooo wrong. I own a double 12 in blue, and love it. I think a 40mm case fits my 17cm wrist fine, although the ideal size would be 38. I am tempted to bid on it, but the 20 percent duty to the UK puts me off
Dial is a bit fussy for me and only 30m is a bit harsh for the price, why no lime on the hour hand, probably confuse me having a hour hand that looks like a GMT hand on my other GMT watches I supose they have to keep it as close to the original watch as possible.......or do they ?
"only 30m is a bit harsh for the price" The Airman was a pilots watch Paul, therefore it wasn't intended to be used in water. 30 metres is enough water resistance as this isn't a dive watch. Glycine collectors prefer the heritage reissues to look the same as the original versions from the 1950's and 1960's. Regards, #WR4K

They made the main crown too small. It's supposed to be bigger than the locking crown, not smaller.

Iconic watch, but is in great need of a modern redesign. Dial is too busy. Lugs need to be curved in to 20mm.
