Bought a 79 Trans Am brand new in May of 79. Black on black, was a Smoky and the bandit twin. Beautiful car, drove well, rode nice. Ran very nice, but was not powerful. Would happily cruise all day at 75 80, but 0 to 60 was like 8 seconds. Had it till 1986. Southern California car, put about 150.000 miles on it, still looked nearly new inside and out. Someone got a very well maintained car that needed nothing.
I was a junior at Hendersonville high school in 1979. That's what the rich kids drove. The rest of us had to settle for 10 year old Trans-ams and Camaros which... Wasn't such a bad thing 😊
I had a '79 Trans Am with the 403 in the 90's, and it was super-clean with 66K original miles (bought it from the second owner). Seeing this one really reminds me of how much time has passed. These cars are old enough now that stuff is broken, rust has happened, and time has taken it's toll. The seats in this one are fine; any good detailer will shampoo/vacuum those seats and they'll look like new again
Nick, that's a great price. This old TA would be the perfect father/son project for a kid just getting his license. Easy car to fix up and parts are easy and affordable. Probably needs a new carb. Put some headers, a new carb, true dual exhaust. You got yourself a runner. Insurance would be pretty cheap. Any 16yr old kid would love to have it.
this was similar to a white one, the first car I ever stole, one that was back in 1987, an 1979 with a big block. We all drove it around for months, finally a guy from the res showed up to claim it, a big ol Indian, he was just happy to have it back balled tires and all.
A 403 Olds and anything 1979 is a project car 😂 i had one the same year and color, was a 4spd ws6 though, awesome color combo on that one, definitely worth the love to bring it back
Always loved these cars were not speed racers this would be good candidate for a Holley sniper EFI install after a motor rebuild MOD or just slap a new carb on it and go with it have seats redone or get some after market seats or just seat covers prob has been sitting though.
I could almost feel the Bandit With the Burt Reynolds Grin And the Jackie Gleason saying I’m going to get that SOB Thanks man Great price on a real classic
That an engine the olds 403. They have a bad rep from kids back in the 80s throwing big cams in them and big carbs but making no power. Issue was the low compression and poor head flow. If the new owner put on older casting pre 1972 olds 350 heads on it and a very mild cam, they would have a 13 second car. The head swap alone brings the comp ratio from 8-1 to 9.5 to 10-1 depending on the casting number heads they use. I feel like this particular engine would be easy to get running right. Sounded like a qjet too and those always run lean at idle bc the throttle blade bushing wear out and cause a massive vacuum leak. Definitely a easy project car. I love these.
Bandit trans AM, snowman just around the corner, frog just jump in the car, saying does this Thing move oh yes say bandit, burning rubber, thanks what a car and the movie smokey and the bandit, awsome, thanks Nick great video stay cool 😊😊😊

I would say more than 90% of these cars are project cars and the ones that don't need a little something, we couldn't afford em anyway 😅
Trans Am were the coolest cars of the 70s sitting low and looking over that hood scoop as you rode down the street 😎

I love the front end on this model.

Turn signal not working cause a bulb is burnt out

Definitely a project car.
My buddy in high school had a nocturne blue Trans Am. I love that color combo. Great ride, Nick.
You forgot to put your cowboy hat on and mustache.. for tribute to Smokey and the bandit .😂😂.. go bandit go.🤠🤣
Nice TA Nick!! When you ran over he camera, it showed underneath some oil leaks, either the engine oil pan or the Transmission front seal
I love the color!
I could almost feel the Bandit
With the Burt Reynolds Grin
And the Jackie Gleason saying I’m going to get that SOB
Thanks man
Great price on a real classic
Any time! Thanks for stopping by
Brand new this was a beautiful Trans Am with the dark blue paint and beige interior. It's a shame whoever owned this car did not maintain it.

I had a black 79 silver bird on the hood. Yep, 403 olds engine, automatic. Very cool car back then.

Engine, has a dead missfire. Sounds like, the engine base compression issues. At least, the oil leaks will keep the floor pans, from rusting out.
Another nice one Nick! Having a house built, but one day…………….
I had a 76 T.A. here in the UK.....sold it for $900 ... those were the days!
Love the color. Nice.
What a great price ! I paid 34k for mine.
That's a good price for what you're getting.
I must be getting old. A Trans Am in this condition would have been about $2k and a pristine example would have been the asking price of this one.
So much potential! I hope whoever buys it doesn't paint it black.
Certainly won’t rust underneath anytime soon. Do what Derek does, feed her the onions and blow the cobwebs out.
Bandit II car (though the movie one was 1980). Nice.
Nice price and nice TA
What color is it
Because it looks dark green to me
That looks great.
It's going to need some gaskets and seals as well as the engine tune up
GM used the same RTS badge in late 70s Holdens
always enjoy maple maybe 11k but not no way 15k.
ALL the beautiful cars, you need to bring my friend,'fatty'with you whenever you want to 😅
Yeah not bad nice Trans Am is it negotiable on the price
like these cars
had a 72 t.a. that color, wish i never sold it. midnight metalic blue.
This won't last long at all!
Classic.
What’s not to like at that price?
Looks to be very original, fare price on this one. My 81 Original Turbo SE Trans Am has Patina all over it and I do not mind.. On my page.
Hey! Nick

Please do the 70 cutlass next
