I suffered from heroin addiction for ten years found the right people to help and have been clean for 37 years it is possible never loose hope. lost a lot of friends to drugs and alcohol and still to this day miss them greatly.
I want thank your for showing what this car means to you and the backstory of your memories with your friend. I was addicted and homeless for over 9 years, I had given up on my marriage, my wife, my kids , my family......I had given up on myself. It was so bad I was my own worst critic, I did not feel worthy of anything good, I did not think I deserved to be loved. I went out west to banish myself from everyone I knew and knew me. For the next 9 yrs I slept in the snow, rain, heat ...I ate out of dumpsters. One day I met a group of folks that took me in and truly loved me when I couldn't love myself and in a years time i was clean and sober.....and by the grace of a power greater than myself.... my wife flew out to see me and she was astounded but glad to see the total changes that i had made both inside and out....a few weeks later i was on my way back to her in TN and for the next 8 years now life has been such a tremendous joy.... I have my 2 daughters back into my life , one of which became an alcoholic but went into rehab and recently graduated in a one year program herself and got her 1 yr chip...so proud of her. I have 2 awesome grandsons now!!! This coming December we will celebrate 29 years of marriage.... yes you heard right .. she kept praying for me ... a lost and broken soul and I am so grateful today she did not give up on me. Again thank you so much for sharing that moment and letting us see the raw emotions ... It hit me hard so I felt the need to share a bit of my story.... I am 15 years in recovery now.
You brought back so many memories. In 1978 I purchased a brand new Martinique Blue Trans Am in Williamstown, KY that I drove for 15 years before I sold it. For 30 years I have regretted selling my favorite car. Thank you
I also bought a new 1978 T/A in Martinique blue, blue velour interior. Sorry to say but it was the worst car I ever owned. Cam went flat, rear end problems, very poor paint and numerous other issues. I think it was a 3 o'clock Friday before the holiday car!
well being 68 years old now i have a trans am story too. i graduated college in 1977 my mom helped me buy a 1976 black with gold bird trans am 400 automatic. drove it for 2 years and then ordered a 1979 trans am new from the factory in black silver bird 403 engine with automatic. i keep that car for 13 years through kids and all and sold it in 1992. so i know the love for trans ams. love your story too
Thank you for finally responding to comments regarding the 401 instead of ignoring them all. that has been the most frustrating thing about the wait, to not know whats happening to it. now that we can expect a 401 video in a week j think ill stick around a little longer!
So I don't know if you guys remember, but I posted a comment about how I got into aircraft maintenance school last year, inspired by this channel. You guys pinned it too. I am now done with theory with all exams passed and I scored an on the job practice gig working on the BAE Systems Hawk. So far I am loving the job and glad I made the decision almost a year ago. I recall you said to keep you posted so here I am.
Used to go to the Pontiac dealers in 1976-1980 to dream of owning one of these with one of my best friends. Never owned but drooled over many a T/A 6.6. My buddy beat cancer twice later in life only to succumb to COVID. Many memories like yourself.
Now this is the kind of content I live for. I found my dads 79 z28 in 2014 and bought it back restored it and surprised him and surprisingly it only had 8000 miles over from when he sold it. Love this
I grew up in Australia and in the 70's a Trans Am was a car for a God. 1 boy in High school came to school with a Trans Am. He became the envy of every teenage boy. It was the only car that shook when you started it. Thanks for the memories but also thanks for making me feel so old 😂
The conversation about your childhood and losing your friend to addiction will do more good than driving that Firebird home. Addiction has done so much damage to so many that having the talk (and raw emotion that comes with it) is well worth the time it took and the tears that came with. Thanks for sharing Jason. The car is awesome. You need to restore it. A numbers matching original Firebird is super rare. Go buy a clapped out, no engine having, roadkill and do a resto-mod on that. You wont regret it!! Thanks for the content as always!
Loved the story of your childhood, I amsorry for your loss, I have a similar story of a friend who was closer than any brother to me, it was a car wreck and not drugs that got him, we can fly anytime, get those wheels rolling, love your channel
Man, this is emotional ! Remembering childhood memories and experiencing them from an adult perspective hits different ! The Bird needs some work done and I believe she will be back on the road. Here is something that I have to say out loud to everyone: Take a moment and reach out to your friends and tell them how much your friendship means, make a schedule to hang out and spend a good time, because we don't know if we'll be able to see them again. Also, keep in touch with your inner child and as always, have an Amazing weekend ! Take care ! 🙌🏼❤🔥✨
My first car was a 1978 Firebird trans-am. Candy apple red with a red interior and black firebird on the hood. 400 4bbl under the hood. God, how I loved the sound of the 4 kicking in when you pressed the gas pedal down to the floor (past the click.) It literally roared. I called it my dragon. You'd slam back into your seat and off you go!!!!! I got it in 1984. My brother, a master mechanic, and I tuned it up and put a new exhaust on it. I redid the entire interior. I miss that car!!!!!! Greg
I love this. Cars are the chronological anchor of my past. I hope to one day spend my days restoring a car/cars that mean more than transportation to me. However long the 401 takes ill be watching. Its about the journey in the end.
I was born in 1969 and I have always loved these Bandit cars. In my early 20's I nearly bought a black one that had been imported by a dealer of American cars and clothing here in England. I felt your emotions Brother, I have similar memories from my youth. Awesome find, enjoy it.
I have confidence that this Thunder Chicken will fly again. There is plenty left to achieve a win. Pull the engine. Tear it apart, send the block to a machine shop, get new heads and intake. Drop a bumped cam and watch this old girl SCREAM!!
Have that engine rebuilt! Keep that thing all original! That’s a LITERAL rare bird, keep it that way! Keep the Quad, there’s nothing like it when they’re set up right! Love the channel!
I’d set that them up so the secondaries would hit at the same time as the downshift. Solely for the reaction the owner would have the first time they drove it. NO ONE expected downshift scratch from a stock vehicle. They’re finicky, and have to be done just right. But when they are…it’s a MOVING experience!
You created memories with your friends having the first Trans Am, and now you're creating memories with this Trans Am and newer friends. Thanks to you and Tim for sharing this with all of us...
Worked my but off as a kid to get that car it wasn't my first car but my third. Loved that ride in high school. Love to own another restore it. Rare car survivor good luck with the build which ever way you go.
Keep it stock! Head Gaskets, Fuel Pump, Fuel Pump, Fuel Pump. The rubber gets old and if it breaks it will totally fill up the oil pan and hydro-lock the engine. Been there done that! I had a 1974 TA 400 4spd with a pretty nice motor in it. Mostly stock with some mods it ran 13:70's in the quarter at 101mph and I never even got out of 3rd gear. My daughter came home from the hospital in it after she was born, her 1st car ride. I drove that car from Oak Harbor Wa. to San Diego CA to Slidell, La to Pensacola FL to Nashville TN and all over the country. Sold it to a guy named Chris from NY City. Two weeks after he purchased it a guy in a pick up truck rear ended him at 40mph on the High Rise in New Orleans and totaled the car. Was sick about that for years. Man I miss that car! NEVER EVER sell the last muscle car if you have more than one. Thanks the Lord I still have the 1969 GTO 400 Auto though! Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
I got lucky buying a 88 Firebird thirty-two thousand original miles on it. I had that car for a really long time and drove it everyday, I loved it. I miss it and I wish I still had it.🤔😎
Give Butler engines a call for a new engine you can go stock or get a stroker to in it. Yes they had two options for the T-Tops the one you have and with the gold glass. Can’t wait to see the out come of this old bird. I drove the Firebird with the Skybird option in high school and the car is still around and running with 70,000 miles on it and no rust on it it’s a garage queen now. This video brings back memories for me to. ✌🏽
That was my high school car also the memory's in that car. I have wow these cars are like a time machine I wish I could be there working on it that is what we did after school in the 70s we all helped each other then dragged main way more fun than gaming.
Please no LS swap!!! That would ruin the magic of this old Bird! Call Butler Performance and have them whip you up a more period correct firebreather! I already love this project and 100% want to see it restored on the channel!
If that is the actual miles - you have to keep stock brother!! I'm 66 years old and maybe getting a little too sentimental in my old age - BUT DANG Jason - that is simply a BLAST FROM THE PAST!!!!
My 1st car ever was a 1977 Trans am Black and gold t top car shaker hood with a 6.6. Had to sell it to help my mom with bills when I was 16 after my father and brother drowning. Can't wait to see it done. Glad you finaly got another one
My aunt had a 79 Bandit TA I got to grow up riding in. It sat for 20 years before I got my hands on it, only to find it was too far gone to salvage. Rust was bad, and engine was blown. Had to sell it and move on. Can't wait to watch the progress on this one.
i totally get what your saying, great for you to continue the story and pay respect to your friend,I had a 1979 who my father at the time came with me to look at and by,memories forever
You got it started and it ran. Head gaskets are sneaky things that way. But dont let the rebuild of the Legend that the Trans Am is get over shadowed by the 401. True the 401 is the main event, but a Trans Am is right up there. Good to see Tim all chipper and hopefully back on his feet after that fire. I dont know him other than from your channel, but he strikes me as one hell of a genuine guy. And everybody should meet a Tim Gentry once in their life.
My first car was a Blue 81 Camaro Z28 350 with t tops My 3rd car was a Blue 82 Z28 350 with t tops Having the last year of the trunk model and the first year of the hatchback was nice growing up. They were my favorite cars besides corvettes. I have always loved older Trans Ams, Firebirds and Camaros
Like you I had a barn find...a 1979 Z28...it was in my barn. During the pandemic I finally had time to pull it out after sitting in the same spot since we moved into our house 15 yrs ago. I've had this car since I was 19 back in 1987. I painted it once before in 1990. She's due for another redo here. I was going to add some videos to my channel when I start it.
Holy cow you guys found my dream car! Please do me and all the rest of us firebird fans a favor and take good care of that car, she’s an important milestone in the history of American muscle
You can not find two better people than you two guys. Always ready and willing to help other people when needed. And a special thanks to Joe for being there when needed. The car will bring back memories but think of the memories it is making and the one it will make. Life is short enjoy all the memories you can.
A great car and a great story, Jason. Addiction is such a waste of life and getting the message out that there is always help is a very worthwhile cause. As for this Trans-Am, it is so original it deserves to stay that way. A sensitive restoration has to be the way to go. A beauty, for sure.
Man... this car is a classic. Smokey and the Bandit made this car a legend. This baby need a LOT of love, but I know you're going to do some good things with it.
Jason keep it stock mate it's a piece of motoring history from when cars were interesting and had heart and soul ,I'll be watching hopefully to see it restored ,I'm 66yrs old living here in Australia and a transam was a dream and American muscle car your a lucky guy indeed Cheers Kym Adelaide
Story - know what, I drove a 1978 Trans Am with the T-Roof - black (I think - so long ago - 1983 or 84) - from Calgary out to to Victoria Beach in Manitoba and back. My sisters boyfriend had one so we took shifts driving it. That hood scoop would open if you floored it. I got pulled over by the Saskatchewan highway patrol, it was good as I was not paying attention and needed something to get the brain going; I did not notice them until they were on my bumper and I jabbed the guy that owned it and was sleeping, thumb gestured to look back - {holly s**t how fast were you going?" and I said "well the usual" to his "oh crap". Back then I was like my nephew now, wild curly hair - and it was TWO young women, and I was so confused as she asked where I was going, and it kind of complicated, so she said well where are you coming from and I pointed backward and said "from there" SO she started to search my car, but she leaded over me so she was between me and the steering wheel looking at my center counsel (so her gun was right there so I just said - oh I think it might be better if I got out) and she looked over and "oh yeah, maybe". So that one chatted to me and I said oh, my regular car is a Civic and I'm not used to the power, and she had an Accord .. blah blah, no ticket .. she just said she they wanted to wake us up a bit as they were following for awhile. BTW we met that fellow with his friend camping in BC they were cruising in a 1970 or 71 (same look really) Camaro (white) back then.
Wow, this episode was definitely a tearjerker. Love what you’re doing out there. My second call was the 78 formula, buccaneer red. It did not have the shaker it had the long hood scoops two days after I got it. I ripped the six cylinder out and put the V8 for my 1973 Monte Carlo with it brought back some great memories thank you.
My Dad still has his 1978 Firebird TransAm. It is in much worse shape, but I remember as a kid riding in the passenger seat and loving the feel of the car.
Love it! as a kid in the UK I saw the occasional one of these in the flesh, and of course in Smokey and the Bandit. In 1990, I had moved to Ireland, and managed to buy a 77 Trans Am in white, and had fun driving it around for 5 or 6 years. sent it to a guy for some resto work , but despite promises, it never happened, I retrieved it ten years later, and by then the engine had seized like the one in the video, despite having being stored indoors all that time. One of the cylinder walls had corroded quite badly however. Too much body and engine work for me sadly, so I passed the car on to a local engine shop in the hope they might have the time and resources to get it back on the road one day!
Would not have missed it for the world and I feel your pain. Good luck with your trip home and God bless both of your families! Good morning to you all and enjoy your Sunday today.
Very poignant. I lost my best mate 3 years ago to liver cancer caused through alcohol addiction. We were mates since year 4 in 1966! Our thing was cars. And bikes. And bikes and cars. We bought our first car at age 15 in 1971 or 72. The bastard made me spend my school holiday work pay cheque on a 1961 Ford Falcon. Cost us the princely sum of $35! And yeah . . . I think of Russell every day and still dream up conversations to have with him that I will never have. We shared a love of British motorcycles - Triumphs Beeza's AyJay's. We laughed at them and loved them at the same time and there is no one else I mean NO ONE I can share that with without him. So i know exactly how you feel. Great video and looking forward to see what you can do with the 'bird.
Sorry for the loss of your friend. I lost my father-in-law to cancer a little over a year ago, and we now have both his bikes in our garage; his very first Suzuki and his BMWR1100rs. We used to go on riding vacations and to motorcycle rallies every year. There are so many good memories. And just like you and your friend, I was blessed to have him in my life. Thank you for sharing your story. ($35 for a car?!?! Wow! I thought I got a good deal when I bought my first car, a 1976 Ford Pinto, for $300 😆).
Glad you got this man. I also understand what you’re going through with your friend. I lost my life long best friend to an over dose in January of this year. He’s really the one that got me into cars and he would cruise around with me in my 78 trans am when we were in high school. I just got a 76 trans am SE a few weeks ago and I drove past his old house that he grew up in a few times just really wishing I could take him for a ride. If there was anyone in the world I wanted to show that car to it was him. I feel your pain brother. Good luck with that ol bird.
It's strange to see someone else getting so emotional about a car, but for me it's not just the car it's also the memories you made when you had that car.👊💥
I started watching your channel because of the YACHT. Now it has been 4 weeks since there has been any thing about it. I am beginning to think you gave up on it. I now doubt that you will ever finish it let alone by the time of the next boat show. What a disappointment. 🤪😆 Got to love those haters! I enjoy the 401, but there is nothing wrong with rebuilding memories. I was never great with my hands (or never thought so). My late Father and late brother where always the mechanical wizards in my family. A couple months ago, I rebuilt my 20 year old 5hp chipper shredder engine after it refused to start. I was definitely out of my comfort zone. But after watching hours of you KNUCKLE HEADS ❤do it I figured I could give it a go! I managed to rebuild that engine and it runs like it was new. I know my Dad and brother would have been proud of me. Thanks for the inspiration and keep up the good work!
Glad to see content that was originally on your channel. I was 3 when this car came out, and remember in the 80s loved seeing these trans-am’s and Camaro’s running around town.
When are we going to get back to the 401?? That's the reason I joined!! It has been a month since they installed the nose gear! are they finished working on it? What's going on?
Well, this is new for me. I'm excited. I've had a 79 Trans-Am and two Firebirds. What fun cars. Really nice changeup for my Saturday morning entertainment. Keep 'em coming, brother! Always love the content!
Not a car ,but a bike ,i searched a long time to find a Yamaha XT250 1985 ,the same as my first new bike ,i brought with my own money. Its special because one of my best mates, who had the same bike ,died a couple of years ago. I found one ,restored it ,now every time i ride it ,i think of Gary ,and all the rides we did as young guys.
Those truly are beautiful cars. Thank you for giving this one a second chance, really looking forward to how it'll purr/roar once it's received all the TLC it so clearly needs :) Finally, sorry to hear about your loss. Losing someone else to addictions or struggling with it yourself is one of the hardest things in life. All we can do is to be there for those who need it. Thank you.
I still have my 1977 Trans Am that I ordered brand new in 1977. T/A 6.6 Liter Pontiac Engine with Hurst T-Tops Automatic Transmission White. My first car was a new 1973 Firebird Red with 3 Speed. I traded the 73 in on a 1975 Blue Trans Am 4 Speed. Traded the 1975 in on the 1977 Trans Am. I live in Michigan and have driven the 77 T/A to Colorado (Pikes Peak) sight seeing vacation. I have also drove several years on the track at the June Sprints at Elkhart Lake WI. Also drove on the track at MIS Michigan International Speedway. The car was only driven a few winters after that I stored it during the winter. The car has not been started or driven for a long time. I recently was asked to sell it but can't seem to let her go. I love this car...
That car takes me back. My first car was a 1979 Firebird Formula (bought it in 1987)….man I would love to restore one…. Blue metallic paint with black with light blue trim fire chicken on the hood! Would love to see you restore this beauty.
One of my first cars was a 1999 Pontiac firebird. That was my baby. Mind you I was born the same year my car was made. Lol. I get emotional thinking about that car because of all the good memories I had in it. I went to many music festivals in it, drove to a few different states in it, had a bunch of friends that used to ride around with me. It got wrecked out a few years ago and I’m saving now to go and get me a another one. Haha. Thanks for this video!
Remember, addiction is defined by relapses and periods abstinence. Be patient with your friends and loved ones. You may not understand their struggle but you can be the difference that may help them abstain..
Ace I love in the UK and I used to have a 1978 Bandit Black Tran am TA 66 WS 400 when I was 22 Years Old in the UK, Im now 66year old I would love to have mine back Please keep it original even if you have to rebuild the motor, I made so many memories with mine just like you, but can you imagine that car in the UK at that time please restore it. Thanks Dave D Blackpool
This is awesome, although I doubt the 4k on the milage, the brakes wouldnt be worn that much. They could have had seat covers on it.Great to see the future of this beauty, in 81 my girlfriends mom had a new black one that she would let her take out. Fun memories.
My oldest son was a 20 year plus addict. He's been over 9 years clean, owner of a successful roofing and remodeling company that hires recovering addicts. They learn a trade, get anger management classes, parenting classes, relationship classes and financial classes. Each class they complete gets them a raise. They all hold each other accountable in life. Many have become like adopt family to my wife and I. Sadly of his works that looked up to him like a Dad overdosed and didn't make it. She was like a granddaughter to us. It really hurts to lose someone that close. My car I long for is my 1971 Dodge Charger. Plum Crazy Purple with white interior and a 383. Loved that car since it was the car I was driving when I met my wife.
I have to say,,,,, one of the most emotional videos I have watched. Not just on your channel. Your emotions brought back memories of my past. Your emotions show me the true heart you have and I cannot express how much I admire and respect the content you put out. Prayers out to you to continue your endeavors and projects. Forever fan. God bless brother
My third car was a 1980 turbo trans am back in 84,last year I found a 1980 turbo trans am pace car and bought it and it made me so happy to drive an old trans am again it runs great it is not powerful but it is so much fun for some reason. Great video.
Rebuild Rescue This story may be tear up because i'm a car guy myself And I also lost two car friends one From cancer Which is horrible , but my other friend through drug addiction which is just as bad, and losing, both of my friends was devastating for me because we all grew up together as kids , So My Condolence, for you losing your friend as well, Just know they will want us to live our lives and keep living, because that's all we can do ,but keep your head up and stay strong OK !! So keep working out all of the bugs on this beautiful Pontiac Trans Am So you can get her back on the roar where she was meant to be ,God Bless 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🙏🙏🙏💪💪💪
Great vid guys, great car, great story. So sorry for your loss. Addiction is a voracious predator. 16 years clean & sober here, so living proof poeple can change if they get the right help at the right time.
This is a rare car to have all original with hardly any miles.. it would be almost criminal to not rebuild that engine and keep it all as original as possible.
Firebird Engine needs a Power Wash. Rust Removal and Paint Job. Rescue this bad boy ! Good Video Jason and Joe & Tim & Son. The Mouse Squad says it's a Keeper ! God bless fellas ~
My first car was a 1980 Firebird Trans Am. Leaky T tops and shaker hood scoop included. Sold it years ago for only $800. I miss it now, but that's life. 🤷♂️
One of my hero cars back when I was a kid from watching the Smokey and the Bandit films. Would love to see it restored with the Bandit paint scheme but understand why that wouldn’t happen seeing the gold matches your first car. Good luck with the build.
I suffered from heroin addiction for ten years found the right people to help and have been clean for 37 years it is possible never loose hope. lost a lot of friends to drugs and alcohol and still to this day miss them greatly.
Wow! You MUST keep this all original and restore it...PLEASE!

He had me tearing up, I remember when he came home with his Trans Am. We were teenagers then. Life is so short.
I lost a friend also to this and it's touched me thankyou ,it's given me back memories 😢
Amen brother
My first car was a 1978 Firebird trans-am. Candy apple red with a red interior and black firebird on the hood. 400 4bbl under the hood. God, how I loved the sound of the 4 kicking in when you pressed the gas pedal down to the floor (past the click.) It literally roared. I called it my dragon. i owned the same exact car... Gold , gold rims, T tops , automatic.... Congratulations Jason...wish i still had it
Thank you so much for sharing, it lovely to see your friendship and good humour
I love this. Cars are the chronological anchor of my past. I hope to one day spend my days restoring a car/cars that mean more than transportation to me. However long the 401 takes ill be watching. Its about the journey in the end.
I was born in 1969 and I have always loved these Bandit cars. In my early 20's I nearly bought a black one that had been imported by a dealer of American cars and clothing here in England. I felt your emotions Brother, I have similar memories from my youth. Awesome find, enjoy it.
Thanks, it definitely holds a special place in our hearts
I have confidence that this Thunder Chicken will fly again. There is plenty left to achieve a win. Pull the engine. Tear it apart, send the block to a machine shop, get new heads and intake. Drop a bumped cam and watch this old girl SCREAM!!
Have that engine rebuilt! Keep that thing all original! That’s a LITERAL rare bird, keep it that way! Keep the Quad, there’s nothing like it when they’re set up right! Love the channel!
+ 100 💯 💯 💯
💯 they love the quad and don't like the holes with that spacer plate the shaker will not fit properly
I agree keep it as original as possible the gold ones with the t-tops and the gold bird on the hood where the best-looking combination
There is no way that is a 4000 mile car, if it is those were some extremely hard miles….
Had alot of fun times in a Thunderchicken! Friends was Bandit Gold/Black. Thanks for the memory lane 😊
Looking forward to this restoration.
Special car and a special meaning and message behind this video keep it up
Keep it stock!
all y88s came with gold mirrored t tops. there were no regular t top y88s.
Which 6.6 there were 3 different ones in 1977.
My aunt had a 79 Bandit TA I got to grow up riding in. It sat for 20 years before I got my hands on it, only to find it was too far gone to salvage. Rust was bad, and engine was blown. Had to sell it and move on. Can't wait to watch the progress on this one.
Leave it stock, rebuild her and make it beautiful again!! Great job and I can't wait to see what you do with it!!
i totally get what your saying, great for you to continue the story and pay respect to your friend,I had a 1979 who my father at the time came with me to look at and by,memories forever
My first car was a Blue 81 Camaro Z28 350 with t tops
My 3rd car was a Blue 82 Z28 350 with t tops
Having the last year of the trunk model and the first year of the hatchback was nice growing up. They were my favorite cars besides corvettes.
I have always loved older Trans Ams, Firebirds and Camaros
I’m feeling this guys emotions. I lost my best friend in a 1974 Trans Am .
This brings back memories, mine was a 1977 Firebird with the REQUIRED Jenson Triax Speakers
Great video Jason. Tim is a great guy. Sorry for the loss of your friend. That T/A is going to be sweet when you are done with it.
Jason keep it stock mate it's a piece of motoring history from when cars were interesting and had heart and soul ,I'll be watching hopefully to see it restored ,I'm 66yrs old living here in Australia and a transam was a dream and American muscle car your a lucky guy indeed
Cheers Kym
Adelaide
Beautiful car. I was born in '69 and my first car was a 1975 Trans Am, white with a blue phoenix. Fun car.
Awesome!
A car is much much more than just a vehicle. They are part of us. Great vehicle brother
Hello from the UK. Love this, back to the origins of the channel and the reason I started watching Jason. Also a very emotional edition.
SO great to see you back on a car project! You know I can't post here without begging for an update on the CJ...please!
Got to love those haters!
I’m stoked for that kid. He’s going to have some awesome memories of being a part of this 👍
Good friends are great to have and remember. I'm glad the car reminded you of him
Glad to see content that was originally on your channel. I was 3 when this car came out, and remember in the 80s loved seeing these trans-am’s and Camaro’s running around town.
When are we going to get back to the 401?? That's the reason I joined!! It has been a month since they installed the nose gear! are they finished working on it? What's going on?
Cars are a funny thing, they bring excitement from The Young to the old, and they can definitely jolt memories that can bring a grown man to tears
Well, this is new for me. I'm excited. I've had a 79 Trans-Am and two Firebirds. What fun cars. Really nice changeup for my Saturday morning entertainment.
Keep 'em coming, brother! Always love the content!
Thanks for watching! This project is means a lot to us!
Thank you for giving this one a second chance, really looking forward to how it'll purr/roar once it's received all the TLC it so clearly needs :)
Finally, sorry to hear about your loss.
They find a special place into our hearts
That car takes me back. My first car was a 1979 Firebird Formula (bought it in 1987)….man I would love to restore one…. Blue metallic paint with black with light blue trim fire chicken on the hood! Would love to see you restore this beauty.
Glad to see this, Gentry is a first class guy been a subscription holder for years and it's the only thing that can really describe the man.
That big smile when it pulled out under it's own power says it all. That thing is going to clean up really nice.
This car brings back so many memories. I had a 1975 Trans Am in high school.
That's so cool !
Certainly one of my favorites too, nice that it came your way!
Not to mention a blown head gasket, missing thermostat and replaced radiator.
Oh man, you looked so coooool in that car rolling it out of that driveway the next day.
Awesome story and one that will continue, thank you for sharing
I had a 78 T/A. You won’t go wrong. If it runs they run good. But it’s a classic and goin up in value !
It's always nice to see a beautiful car as the trans am come back to life. Keep her rolling
Thank you !
I know nothing about cars but really appreciate this type of thing. Will keep tuning in to see how you progress.
Your kind message is very motivating ! Thank you for following along with us
Good stuff! Needs some work but all the basics are there for a rescue. Good luck!
I know you will but. Love that car rebuild it keep it stock. Some of the best memories of my life where in a Trans Am in High school. Congrats my man.
That dude is totally awesome
Keep it stock. There will be not so many originals running around
Concentrate on the 401! That’s what we all want to see! 👍
Totally understand, we’ve been on family vacations, Oshkosh, and we were waiting for parts to come back. Next week we are dropping a 401 video!
You know it is amazing you did not get a heart or something from Jason seeing what you are relating to on the 401 amazing 😮
@@rebuildrescue Amazing! I am looking forward to next week! Have a nice vacation! 👍
Yes!!! Do a 401 level "OEM+" restoration on this thing. I will watch every friggin episode!
One of my hero cars back when I was a kid from watching the Smokey and the Bandit films. Would love to see it restored with the Bandit paint scheme but understand why that wouldn’t happen seeing the gold matches your first car. Good luck with the build.
