  • President Bill Clinton addressed the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois, on Aug. 29, 1996, and accepted the party's nomination for a second presidential term. In the speech, Clinton touted his administration's accomplishments in his first term and said, "We are on the right track to the 21st century. We are on the right track, but our work is not finished." Dan Rather anchored CBS News' coverage at the United Center.
