Fun fact: Railguns on planes most likely wont work in real life. This is because well... The raw amount of power they use. Were talking MEGAWATTS of power. Enough to power A SMALL TOWN. Scaling them down might reduce the amount of power required to fire them, but not by a meaningful amount. "Oh, but they can fire at mach 7!" Yes, but thats... thats on the one the navy is using. Im only assuming a small one scaled down to the size of a fighter jet would be able to fire at mach 1, or, if were being optimistic, somewhere below mach 2. Now, i dont know EVERYTHING about fighter jets, so dont go and tell me "oh, you got that wrong, its actually ____, not ______!!", because im not gonna correct this. But from the small tidbits of knowledge on jets that i have, i know the modern fighter jets go at like... mach 2? Now remember how i said one of those railguns would fire at around mach 1 to below mach 2? This means the jet could outrun it's own railgun blast. Not to mention how hot the railgun would be after firing, presumably taking a few minutes to cool down. Enough sustained fire from these would cause the railgun in question to probably over heat and maybe jam, or break, or have it's barrel melt. Plus, the damage a railgun can do to its core is... well... its not pretty. Nor is it going to destroy the railgun in one shot, but the damage to its core would mean it would need a ton of maintenance to be able to fire. Again, i dont know EVERYTHING. Im a GUN enthusiast, not a PLANE enthusiast.
Sorry for replying to this from 5 months in the future but yeah the main problems are honestly the power requirements and subsequent bulk needed for said power. The Japanese actually have a 40mm railgun they’re developing for their navy that can hit Mach 6.5 from what I’ve read. Now 40mm while large isn’t crazy big compared to standard armaments for some modern aircraft. Obviously like you said before the power requirements alone make it impossible for aircraft to have one. However you never know with the advances of technology what we’ll be capable of I guess.

Ngl, if this is how the boss fights are gonna be, I'm kinda glad I dilly-dallied on getting Project Wingman. I like the awkward voice acting, it gives me AC04 vibes. But most of these fights look like they took the worst from Malbolge and cranked it up to ten. It just looks boring to play this game. And I'm not trying to hate on it, the fact it came from one person in the beginning and got this far to become a full fledged, gorgeous looking game shouldn't be ignored. But the lack of polish shows in the gameplay, sadly. Also, admittedly the soundtrack was a bit forgettable for me.

In the federation intercept specialists, the airship is way easier if you use an anti ship missile
