Thank you for making this film. I visited a barber in Chiswick by chance in the early 1980s, and heard Tommy was a regular customer. The barber told me what a wonderful man Tommy was in real life too. He's always made me laugh down all these years. By the by, the typically snooty BBC reaction to young Tommy says a lot about why I have never liked the BBC. It's wonderful that Tommy's biggest television successes seem to have been with ATV. Poetic justice!
When I lived in Chiswick back in the 70s I was always hoping to see Tommy 🤭 never did though! But…. I did see Jonathan Cohen from Play Away lol I think Tommy Cooper was one of the best - funny and so lovable! ❤️
Thank you for this tribute. I am John Cooper, nephew of Toomy Cooper, son of David & Zena Cooper. I get alot of pleasure learning more about my uncles career as I only knew him as my uncle. My wife and I would visit Tommy and Gwen in Chiswick and have many memories of our time together. My Gran, in Southampton was where we spent all our Christmas's together and often Easter. Since My Gran died it seems to have been an avalanche of deaths in the family. Tommy of course, then my cousin Thomas. This was then followed by my father David and more recently my sister Sabrina who was murdered in Eastbourne last year. I moved out of the UK many years ago and have been living in Cape Town, South Africa where I formed the Jonny Cooper Orchestra and also the Glenn Miller Orchestra SA. I suppose entertainment is in the family genes. I am very proud to be related to Tommy for all the obvious reasons but also simply because he was my uncle.
Thank you so much John you have made my day! Your comment has truly touched my heart. It's incredible to hear from Tommy Cooper's own nephew, and I'm thrilled that my video could bring you some joy and nostalgia. Your memories of spending time with Tommy and Gwen in Chiswick, as well as those cherished family Christmases, paint such a vivid picture of family love and togetherness. I'm deeply sorry for the losses your family has endured, especially the tragic passing of your sister Sabrina. My heart goes out to you and your loved ones. It's clear that the Cooper family's talent and passion for entertainment run deep, evident in your remarkable endeavours with the Jonny Cooper Orchestra and the Glenn Miller Orchestra SA. As you could probably tell from the video - your uncle brought so much joy to my own growing up - everyone in my family loved him and he gave us so many shared happy memories - we all adored him and he was a big part of our family get-togethers - watching Tommy Cooper on TV! Your uncle's legacy undoubtedly lives on through your own contributions to the world of music and entertainment. Thank you for sharing a glimpse into your life and your connection to Tommy Cooper. Your pride in being his nephew shines through, and it's an honour to hear from you. Wishing you continued success and happiness from across the globe to Cape Town, South Africa! Shar xx
Hi Jonny. I knew Sabrina through business in the early 80s. I was working as a Sales manager for a swimwear/dancewear company and Sabrina was the buyer for the dancewear section of your father’s Magic shop in Slough. Sabrina left a good impression on me, professional, warm and funny. Wasn’t aware of the tragedy, very sorry to hear that.
I came home from the pub the night he died on stage, to hear my dad saying, "Tommy Cooper has died live on stage and I was recording it (on VHS). Do you want to watch?" Subtlety was not my dad's strong point. I saw the report on the tv news but did not did see the actual clip until many years later thanks to the internet. It was a very sad sight to see him collapsing and hear the audience roaring with laughter unaware of the seriousness of what was happening in front of them. But I suspect Tommy would have loved it, if he knew he would be going out that way. One of the funniest people on tv ever. RIP Tommy and thanks for (and still giving me) loads of laughs
Thank you so much for your comment x apologies for the delayed response! I agree - it's a terribly sad sight - which is why I chose not to include it in the video - Tommy gave us so much laughter and I also agree - definitely one of the funniest people on TV ever for me! Thank you for watching xxx
It was great to see a life story of my parents favourite comedian of the time. They spoke of him a lot and I have seen many of his shoes . He was a very funny man and to date there has been nobody else like him.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment!!! Tommy has always been a big favourite in my family too - we all love him and still watch his performances and laugh out loud! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much and thank you for watching - I never visit without taking flowers - It's the least I can do - they gave us so much wonderful entertainment xxx
In 1971 Tommy Cooper and his wife came into a gift shop I was working in in Jersey He bought several items and his wife negotiated a discount with the owner ,she seemed quite business minded and outgoing ,Tommy was very pleasant but seemed shy .You could tell she was the boss They gave us all pens which had ‘ I stole this from Tommy Cooper ‘ written on . I was 16 and had grown up watching Tommy Cooper in tv and it was quite an event in my young life to be serving a ‘star’ Very interesting video Thank you 19:58
Oh my goodness!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing this amazing memory of Timmy Cooper! I can imagine Gwen taking charge 🤭 if you still have that pen I bet it’s worth a small fortune now! Thank you for watching the video - it’s much appreciated! ❤️❤️❤️
He truly was - I think many people feel Tommy was like a member of their own family - especially having grown up watching him - he was such a lovely entertainer ❤️🥰 someone all the family could watch together xx
A naturally funny guy he made you laugh just walking into the room.sadly I was watching the live show when he collapsed on stage at first we all thought it was part of his act only to be told later he’d had a heart attack.a great loss to the entertainment industry sadly missed I think you need to be of a certain age to appreciate his brand of humour RIP big man.
Tommy Cooper was indeed a comedic genius whose mere presence could light up a room with laughter. It must have been a deeply surreal and heartbreaking experience to witness his collapse on stage. His unexpected passing left a void in the entertainment industry, and he is sorely missed. Thank you for sharing your memories - and thank you so much for your comment and for watching the video xxxx
Probably the most famous catchphrase in the world. A great man, an important part of my childhood, sadly missed. I remember my friends running up to me telling me he had died on TV.
Yes!!! The fun part of his act was seeing him get it all ‘wrong’ and then the wonderful surprised look in his face when he performed a trick perfectly 🤭 he was an expert! ❤️
Thank you so much for sharing that! I lived in Chiswick during the 1970s, I loved Tommy growing up, and always hoped to see him out and about but I sadly never did xxxx
Tommy Cooper's book "Just Like That" was first published in 1975. I bought a copy and have treasured it all these years. There have been several editions of the book and is still available at a inexpensive nominal price. Edition one though is becoming a collector's item. Always loved the Cooper humour, especially as Tommy loved the horses too. He always said, "I backed a horse today at 20 to 1. It came in at half past four!" RIP Tommy. Thanks for the video upload. 🌙🌟
Ohhh!!! I have the 2006 edition and I love it!!! ❤️ I adore Tommy’s jokes - they were so hilarious and still are - the best bit about them is they are all ages friendly!!!! Thank you so much for your comment and for watching! ❤️
I loved TC, my friend John does a Tommy Cooper tribute show, Just like that! He faithfully recreates the magic tricks, the jokes, the voice we provide all the laughing! Hambledon Productions, such a great show and supported by Tommy Cooper Estate and his daughter Vicky.
Thank you so much for sharing about my favourite all time comedian. Tragically I watched his demise on TV. People laughed as they thought it was part of the act. It was, of course, not. But even as he died he touched the hearts of people with laughter. Unique experience. May God bless him.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! Tommy was certainly one of the very best - he can still have me in stitches watching him today - he was the perfect performer - a true comedy great! Thank you for watching the video ❤️
Thanks 🙏 again for another wonderful bio vlog really enjoying them all…delighted I discovered your channel. Grew up watching Tommy Cooper in the late 70s a great comedian. ❤
That was a lovely tribute I heard a story that one Christmas Tommy was in London doing some Las minute shopping but the traffic and people had come to a standstill because he was joking about running in and out of the shops and he had someone in a car with him so as he was bringing out his shopping he was chucking it into the car then onto the next shop It caused absolute mayhem but no one minded as it was Tommy Cooper and the people loved him I remember that last show he did 1984 and I was doing my mocks everyone at school was talking about how they though Tommy was fooling around Then the news gave us the sad ending after the programme finished We are all unique in our own little way But Tommy Cooper was just unique Wonderful guy still makes me smile now lol 😁
He was simply brilliant - I can imagine that Christmas scene with the shopping! 🤭 he was very much loved! I remember when he died too - it was one of the most shocking moments when it suddenly dawned on you what was happening 😢 thank you so much for your comment and for watching ❤️
A comedy genius still laugh when i ever see his show on telly god rest Tommy Cooper always just class keep up your brilliant work love your vlogs and videos wishing you and yours all the best from a fan from Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪
Thankyou for paying this tribute to his life, I was 12 years old and still remember watching that show with my parents, it was probably one of the first times I experienced the loss of someone that meant a lot to me even though I did not know them personally ❤️
Thank you so much for your kind comment and for watching the video - it was such a pleasure to take flowers to the memorial of the wonderful Tommy Cooper 💐
I've watched a few of your films now about the great stars of the past and you're such a lovely person for laying flowers in remembrance at there graves. Thank you for keeping them in our memories, I don't often comment on youtube but i'm touched by your love for them all.
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words. It means a lot to me that you have taken the time to watch my videos and and appreciate the tributes to the great stars of the past. Your thoughtful acknowledgement truly warms my heart. I'm grateful to have viewers like you who share in the love for these icons and their enduring legacies. Your support encourages me to continue preserving their memories. Thank you again for your touching comment xx
Thank you so much Leslie! I have been wanting to feature Tommy since ai began the channel!! He was a big part of my growing up - the entire family would get together to watch Tommy - we all lived him ❤️🌹
Hi, Tommy was a fantastic entertainer 👏 I can remember that day when Tommy was on stage and seeing him collapse in to the curtains and I just knew it was not part of his act then latter on the news came the sad news that Tommy had died on the stage, RIP TOMMY 🙏 Thank you for the story about Tommy and the yellow roses 💐👍👍
I can remember that show when Tommy sadly died but he left this world hearing what he loved to hear the sound of great laughter. We will never have such a great man again thanks for another great video
One of a unique band of comedians sadly we will never see again. Their comedy was by the large innocent but oh so funny. Great video as usual. You’ve set yourself very high standards.
I agree with this sooooo much!!!! They were truly such greats of comedy back then - it was comedy that all ages could watch - no naughty words required to make you laugh 🤭 and no agenda either - other than laughter! Thank you so much for your lovely comment! And for watching xxxx
Some of the funniest comedians are some of the most intense people. Tommy loved making people laugh but hated being laughed at when not performing, even if the laughter was affectionate. Eric Morecambe was scared that if he stopped joking he'd never start again, he always carried a newspaper clipping of the first Morecambe & Wise TV show which said "Television is the box Morecambe & Wise were buried in". He actually spoke about Tommy just before he himself walked off stage and collapsed. Thank you for this lovely tribute, and thank you for not including stills of the final performance, I know he left them laughing but it's still an unsettling sight 😟 The grave may be showing its age, but Tommys comedy, as with Morecambe & Wise, is timeless 💕
Thank you so much for this lovely comment! It's so true too - I've found the more I look at the lives of the comedians I grew up loving - I see the same reoccuring themes x Tommy's collapse on stage is hauntingly sad - and I like to remember him performing and making us all laugh - the funniest thing for me was when I read that he was a bit scared of Diana Dors - now that did make me chuckle! Thank you again! and I appreciate you watching! xxx
A very nice tribute to a gentle giant... I never saw Tommy in the TV Palladium act the night he died, my mother did however. It wasn't until a few years ago through the internet that I saw his last act in the Palladium. His comedy was at the peak of what was around when I saw him on TV in the 70's. People even today still impersonate him, "Just like that, not like this, like that" 😂 His stage baffoonery, height, large feet, and constant smile made him what he was. A comedy legend indeed....sadly missed...😥 One joke I remember him telling on his TV show was.... "I cleaned the attic out the other day with the wife, dirty, filthy, covered in cobwebs......but she's good to the kids" 😂 "Spoon Jar, Jar spoon" 🤣
Tommy Cooper what can I say just like that walking on stage he had you in fits of laughter he basically didn't after do anything loved him throughout my childhood and adult life.
Tommy was a very amazing comical magician. My whole family have very fond memories of him and his tricks. When one of my brothers got married he and his wife had a very quiet reception until I presented them both with fez’s and our father did the bottle, glass, bottle trick. Only my family and my brother got it!
Ah! I never knew Tommy worked in Hythe in his youth. I visited an Army Uncle/Aunt stationed down there in the army houses in the mid 1970's a few times for summer holidays. My Scottish mum used to drive us all the way down from South Yorkshire. I still have fond memories of my times down there.
Thats a long journey! We lived in London in the 70s and we went to Devon on holidays - always seemed to take forever to get there - feels much quicker these days! ❤️❤️❤️
I rarely comment on what I see on RUclips but I absolutely love the videos you post, because they are about all of the British actors and comedians that used to make me cry with laughter when i was younger. I was a huge fan of The Goons and Kenneth Horne on the radio as well.....*these are my cowhands, .... cow feet.......etc"! Not what younger people would like, they seem to have a different sense of humour these days, but that's ok of course. I know that I enjoyed these entertainers and, I'm also glad I'm at where I am and feel sorry my grandchildren are stuck with what they have these days...... thank you so much for what you take the time to do, its very special
1968... I'm an electrical apprentice... living in south London and working at Sloughs, (gone now), dog track. Went for a walk, down the high street... on the right hand side there was a magic shop, (just like THAT), and so, I went in, as I'm always a practical joker... and who was THERE? YEP, it was Tommy! I said, "ah, you're Tommy Cooper!" and he replied... haha, "I'm NOT Tommy Cooper... I'm iz twin bruvver!" Love him!
I love this! What a fantastic anecdote! It's like something straight out of a Tommy Cooper routine. Meeting him in a magic shop must have been a surreal and hilarious experience. Thanks for sharing this gem of a memory! xxxx
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre Thanks... I have to say, that for a long time, hahaha, I almost believed him but WHY was the shop, in Slough? You have so many videos', really great stuff, luv 'em! x
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre May I add, what Bob Monkhouse said, on his last stage act, in London. He said he, and Tommy, were on the underground when a beggar approached, with a dog under his arm, asking for money as he was hungry... Bob recalled what Tommy then said. Tommy said, to the beggar... who said he was hungry, "EAT YOUR DOG!" Haha, bit cruel but, a bit funny, too!
Lovely stuff. Thanks. Hearing stories about Tommy from the likes of Eric Sykes, Spike Milligan and Peter Sellers had me rolling on the floor. Tommy (A notorious scrooge), Taxi Drivers and the promise of a Tip was by far my favourite tale. Breakfast, dry cornflakes and a briefly laughing barman is among my second. As for loading furniture into his van... nope, I won't spoil the ending.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for watching the video ❤️ it’s always a pleasure to leave flowers 💐 Tommy gave me so much fun growing up watching him entertain - I just loved him! ❤️
Hi, when I was researching Tommy's grave, I contacted the cemetery, and they said that no ashes were put in this family grave, so his name is there as a cenataph only. A lovely tribute all the same.
Ahhhh! I did wonder as I mention in the video - I’d always understood that he had been cremated at Mortlake and scattered among his favourite flowers at home - thank you so much for this information! ❤️
@BeautifulBadandBizarre It's still possible and I would like to believe a part of him is there. I'm not trying to appear morbid but have you ever seen how much human remains remain after cremation? It's quite a lot so it's entirely possible that Tommy is in two places. My wife decided along with her father that her mother's ashes would be secretly interred in her own mothers grave. They underestimated how much there was so they buried some in the grave and the rest is in a quality street tin in out meter cupboard!!!!!! Scares the crap out of the bloke when he comes to read the gas meter!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Noooooooo! I love Quality Street - this has literally made me laugh out loud! 🤭 It’s quite a big plot - I did wonder but you never know - I’d like to think there might be a part of them all there together - the views from that spot are very pretty ❤️
It really takes me back too! So many memories - and it was so funny watching Tommy Cooper on television knowing he actually lived within walking distance off my house when I was about 10 years old! Xx
I was once a full time musician .I had a gig in a golf club in berks,I believe. 7 days after Tommy passed away, his brother Dave walked in.Good grief....spitting image.I was covered in goosebumps!!
I was resident with other musicians at a very famous cabaret venue in Luton in 1974,where you would have the likes of Des o connor, Bob Monkhouse,Max Bygraves, the Stylistics, etc, etc for 7 nights each.Tommy Cooper did a week there too.A white wooden free standing garden gate was placed side-on, on the stage. He was introduced, lights down.Nothing.......for a couple of minutes.Tommy is backstage with a radio mike. You hear a toilet flush,Tommy shouts "get me out".The audience fall about while he bangs on the door.He comes out to a standing ovation. Funny man.A one off.
Tommy Cooper was one of a kind a pure icon of a comedian and a magian as I have many DVDs of him I can honestly say he was a legend who had the capability to make the audience laugh on stage even before he had actually said a word plus his bewildered lost school boy look when he came on stage and the delight of when his tricks went right even when he was in the movie The Plank with the late Eric Sykes a brilliant comedy double act basically to my a iconic comedian and magician apparently I remember that a favourite gag of the late Tommy Cooper was to say to if he was a passenger in a taxi he would say to the cab driver "Have a drink on me and would hand the taxi driver a Tea bag if this is true it's the kind of humour he had and so funny and endearing as a comedian and magician ❤️
Thank you much for your comment Stephen! I love the teabag story - my grandad was a black cab driver in London - that makes me wonder if he ever picked up famous people - I'm sure he would of! Thank you for watching! It's very appreciated xxx
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre very welcome yes I will admit that I am a big Tommy Cooper fan the story of the tea bag and when he used to say to the taxi driver quote have a drink on me and hand them a tea bag was true 😂😂😂 x
What a thoughtful and moving presentation whoever you are. I have been watching more and more ever since your presentation of my fantasy love, Mary Millington. Well done
what a superb video and a truely great tribute you gave him . very often Tommy would turn up at his brothers magic shop in slough berks to spend time with him.
great video what a brilliant entertainer, another great british comedian, one off the funniest comedians ever, I didn't know he was Welsh, his messing up of magic tricks is legendary
Everything about him was just so funny in such a lovely way - he really did have charisma that was very visible on stage! Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for watching the video! ❤️❤️❤️
I know what you mean - I think some of you’re so welcome! I think sometimes the most tragic stories can also be inspirational - for me the way Diana Dors dealt with tragedies in her life for example is amazing - she was so courageous - I feel there is always something to learn from people the people I feature ❤️
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre I do not know if you have done a video about Eric Sykes. He is true genius. His book about his favourite comics. Some he worked with (Jimmy Edwards) and some like Stan Laurel inspired him really is a treasured read. His autobiography is wonderful as well. Thanks again Adrian
Thank you so much! I was really nervous about this one because I love Tommy so much - I’ve been wanting to do this one for ages but it was difficult but I can’t tell his jokes - only Tommy could do that! And I hated the biopic they did on him - it was so untrue and unfair - but he did so much during his life I just didn’t know where to start and there was so much I just couldn’t get in! Thank you so much for watching xx
Yes me too 🤭 we saw some of the most amazing talent in our youth did t we! Thank you so much for your lovely comment! ❤️ I hope your having a beautiful day in your part of the world! 🌹
As a schoolboy we met Tommy near our school in London, Highbury. He was so kind to us. Tommy is the perfect example of a true english man, kind , humble and salt of the earth🙏 RIP dear man until your next performance🌹🌹🌹😇
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre you are most welcome in this case . Your website also shows those two psychos and paedophile monsters glamorised as gangsters kray twins that I probably wouldnt have any good things to say unless it was to expose their evil as with Jimmy Saville, Ghislaine Maxwell and their associates...the antithesis of the likes of Tommy Cooper🙏
I also lived in Barrowgate Road W4...1960s/70s!...Tommy's son and daughter used to walk their dog past our house. If my memory serves me correct it was an alsation!
There are few comics that stand out at being top of their chosen profession. Tommy did this effortlessly. A checkered personal life but he came so alive on stage. I watched his last performance and can remember being really worried when they went into a break that the worst had happened, unfortunately this was the case. Saying that truly believe he was happy right up the the very end as its the way I think he would have wanted to go. RIP to a comedy genius. Amazing clip as always shar. 👌 😎❤❤❤
I completely agree! Tommy Cooper lived to entertain and did it so well - I know his health suffered with the pressures and I think it’s an incredible shame that just as he took notice and started to do something about it - it was too late 😢 he brought so much happiness to so many people - thank you so much for your lovely comment! And for watching - as always it’s very much appreciated ❤️❤️❤️
@BeautifulBadandBizarre Will always be a fan Shar. You can always rely on your lovely step back in time clips to cheer you up when it's been a long day 😎❤❤❤
There are thousands of magicians around the world and no doubt many are very talented and entertaining but their acts are just variations on a theme. There are only so many tricks and they just rehash the same old tired material and illusions but with a different aspect. Nixon, Daniels, Penn and Teller, Copperfield, and the new generation led by Dynamo. You admire them and they can flabber your gast but you don't love them not in the way we did and still do Tommy. Straight magicians are ten a penny. There's only one Tommy Cooper. As a magician to make your act genuinely funny by deliberately screwing up is pure genius. And of course we know Tommy was a master magician. We visited the Magic Circle a few Christmases ago when they open the doors to the public and put on acts and get the audience involved. It was.....magical. Pride of place in a glass cabinet was some of Tommy's fake bottles from his "Bottle glass bottle glass" act and donated by Gwen. To actually see them was like seeing the crown jewels of comedy. I'm desperate to get to Eastbourne to see his grave in fact I was there last Sunday. My father in law lives there but he is very frail and has dementia and is currently in Eastbourne General Hospital. In fact we didn't even get to see the sea. I'm hoping maybe this weekend I might be able to slope off for an hour or so and pay my respects to such an important part of our comedy history. There is a memorial of such in Eastbourne at 7 Motcombe Lane which is where I suspect Tommy lived during his time there. There is a mural on the wall of the cottage. It's on Google maps. I've said it before Shah, you really do your homework on your subjects and it's greatly appreciated. 👌👏👏👏
I couldn’t agree with you more! I also understand what you’re saying about Tommy’s fake bottles! I can liken it to the first time (and every time since actually!) that I was able to see and actually touch things that were owned by Marilyn Monroe - I had loved her for as long as I could remember - and I’d never dreamed I would actually be in a situation where I was touching things she’d touched! Now that’s magic 🤣 it was so special ❤️ Please let me know if you get to the cemetery to see Tommy’s grave/memorial - I’m sorry to hear about your father-in-law, dementia is so cruel and extremely upsetting and stressful for loved ones xx
Very interesting my father was from EXETER (Devon) and I have quit a few relations down there.im in Tiverton myself just up the road fm there.Im now 62 myself..steve c
Tommy looked very fetching in a fez & I am glad Tommy Jr was present the night he died in that performance. It is also sad poor six-year-old Tam never got to know Tommy Jr., who only lived 32 years. I really, REALLY, enjoyed all of the photographs you included in this video. It was a treasure trove. It also stunned me a bit to see a very young Benny Hill looking back from my screen!! Nice work.
Thank you so much for your comment - BENNY HILL!!! I love him so much - yes it’s surprising to see him young 🤭 I agree about Tommy - I’m glad that his son was with him ❤️❤️❤️ thank you for watching 🥰❤️
Tommy it seems enjoyed a glass of adult beverage, especially when provided by others. Evidently his first job which paid 2 1/2 pence an hour had a lasting impression on him. A wonderful funny engaging man, who gave us so much joy during a time of greater innocence.
Thank you so much for making and sharing this video with us. It did make me cry but in a good way. It was a lovely way to remind us how much we loved him. 👋
Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for watching ❤️ for so many of us I think Tommy felt like a member of the family - he was so funny and so lovable 😊 ❤️🌹
That was a very interesting upload. Thank you so much. As a teenager I lived in Shirley in Southampton. Tommy Cooper’s mum had a little shop selling, as far as I recall, ladies’ clothes and doing alterations. The premises were at 124 Shirley Road. It looks as though it’s now a fish and chip shop. I don’t know why she had a business there because they lived across the River Test at Langley which is quite a distance. Her other son ran a shoe shop in Holbury also across the river. Your upload also mentioned Benny Hill who was another Sotonian. His mum lived just around the corner from us and I often saw Benny there. He’s buried in Southampton’s Hollybrook Cemetery. Thank you once again.
Hi Mark ❤️ thank you so much for your comment and for watching! Yes!!!! She did alterations and even sold bits of jewellery - I don’t know how true it is but apparently she never changed the displays and they got very dusty 🤭 I’m in Portsmouth and Southampton quite a bit - I’ve passed that shop and never realised! Now Benny Hill… another BIG love of mine - and the amazing and gorgeous ‘Flanagan’ of Kray fame was one of his ‘girls’ watch this space 🤣🤣🤭 xxxx
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre it’s obviously a few years ago now and memories can play tricks, but I remember the sign above the shop which said ‘G. Cooper’ and it did look a bit faded, but there were a few other long established businesses like that in Shirley. Benny Hill attended Richard Taunton Grammar School which was in Highfield, Southampton. I went there in the 1970s when it was a VI Form College. Another old boy of Taunton’s was John Stonehouse. I remember his name being removed from the honours board!
The true king of comedy, an absolute genius with such perfect timing in both word and action. Thanks for this, it made me laugh and then it made me cry, just like Tommy himself. RIP to the king and thanks for the video.
Thanks so much for these. I stumbled on this channel a few days ago and your bios are fantastic and your narration is sublime! Brings back lots of happy memories as a nipper. You rock!!
Thank you so very much for this tribute to a man who brought such wonderful laughter in my(Ian) life. Your research work was excellent and unearthed the real human side of Tommy. A joy to watch.
Oh you’ve made my day Ian thank you! 😊 Tommy Cooper was so incredibly funny and so massively loved! I always find it fascinating to delve into the lives of the talented entertainers I grew up loving and admiring - and many times I find them to be so inspirational and interesting - without being perfect - and that kind of makes them perfect to me in a way! Thank you so much for watching xx
Thanks for yet another entertaining informative video epitaph on a celebrity's life. It is truly amazing how you put these brilliant videos together, thank you.
Thanks for another moving tribute to a great comedian that I grew up watching with my Family. I remember watching him on TV the night he died, it was such a shock to everyone. RIP Tommy.
Hello Shar🙋♀️ “Just Like That” you made a fascinating video 📹 I did not realise he had a Welsh 🏴 background. Shar xx
OH! Soooo sorry, about your sister!! RIP! xx
@tomsurrey2252 ❤️🙏🏻
We used to be helpless with laughter in our house when Tommy was on tv performing. I enjoyed listening about his life.
Very nice of her to leave flowers at the grave. She did something I felt like doing.
Thank you so much and thank you for watching - I never visit without taking flowers - It's the least I can do - they gave us so much wonderful entertainment xxx
Im from Eastbourne and i didn't know Tommy was buried there. Thanks for all your celebrity stars what a lovely lady and researcher xx
In 1971 Tommy Cooper and his wife came into a gift shop I was working in in Jersey
He bought several items and his wife negotiated a discount with the owner ,she seemed quite business minded and outgoing ,Tommy was very pleasant but seemed shy .You could tell she was the boss
They gave us all pens which had ‘ I stole this from Tommy Cooper ‘ written on .
I was 16 and had grown up watching Tommy Cooper in tv and it was quite an event in my young life to be serving a ‘star’
Very interesting video
Thank you 19:58
Oh my goodness!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing this amazing memory of Timmy Cooper! I can imagine Gwen taking charge 🤭 if you still have that pen I bet it’s worth a small fortune now! Thank you for watching the video - it’s much appreciated! ❤️❤️❤️
I agree tommy cooper was loved by many and was a comedy legend
He truly was - I think many people feel Tommy was like a member of their own family - especially having grown up watching him - he was such a lovely entertainer ❤️🥰 someone all the family could watch together xx
I remember as a boy watching his last performance.... my dad absolutely loved his comedy.
Yes!!! If you say ‘Just Like That’ I think most people identify it with Tommy! ❤️ His death was truly a very sad event ❤️
Did a good job there. I could feel myself getting emotional. What a man 🤙
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your comment and thank you for watching the video ❤️
My dad, during time in the service, caught Tommy's acts whenever he could and often said that Tommy was in fact a very accomplished magician.
Yes!!! The fun part of his act was seeing him get it all ‘wrong’ and then the wonderful surprised look in his face when he performed a trick perfectly 🤭 he was an expert! ❤️
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre The best kind of comedy ☺
I saw him at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry. He was hilarious.
I can imagine! I would have loved to have seen Tommy Cooper on stage! xxxx
My late Dad saw Tommy Cooper going in to a pub in Chiswick in the 1960s
He lived near where I dad came from
Thank you so much for sharing that!
That's so wonderful! I shall check that out! I'd love to see that! Thank you so much and thank you for watching! It's very appreicated xxxx
I'm so glad you're enjoying them! thank you so much for watching - it truly is very much appreciated xxx
What's better than hearing TC say thank you very much?
Tommy was one of the best! If not the best in many ways! Thank you for your lovely comment and for watching Michael - it's very much appreciated! ❤❤❤
Tommy was a legend 👍🏻😁 they don't make them "Just Like That" anymore.
Tommy lives on forever, he was so funny.
👍🏻👍🏻😁
I totally agree! He was brilliant and even all these years later he can still make me cry tears of laughter! 🤣❤️
Thankyou for paying this tribute to his life, I was 12 years old and still remember watching that show with my parents, it was probably one of the first times I experienced the loss of someone that meant a lot to me even though I did not know them personally ❤️
Hi that was a beautiful touch with a bunch of rose yellow the simble of peace and he is at peace
Fantastic shar love Tommy ,What a giggle he only had to walk on stage and the laughter began .Thankyou 🤗
Thank you so much Leslie! I have been wanting to feature Tommy since ai began the channel!! He was a big part of my growing up - the entire family would get together to watch Tommy - we all lived him ❤️🌹
@Beautiful Bad and Bizarre Absolutely. A big family evening of entertainment good fun and Laughs. Happy Times.
Yes I used to live in Hammersmith about that time and remember seeing him a few times in the `Commodore` cinema in Chiswick...happy days.
I was always hoping to see him when I lived in Chiswick at the same time as he did - but sadly it never happened - you were so lucky! xxx
He was I agree! A truly great entertainer ❤️ thank you so much for your lovely comment and for watching xx
Thank you for sharing.. It's lovely when you leave flowers xx ❤️ 🙂
You’re very welcome! My absolute pleasure ❤️ thank you for watching xxx
I can remember that show when Tommy sadly died but he left this world hearing what he loved to hear the sound of great laughter. We will never have such a great man again thanks for another great video
I agree 🥰 Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for watching ❤️
I remember Tommy Cooper's Cooperama was on just before another of my favourite shows back then, The Avengers with Diana Rigg, Great video.
I loved The Avengers! Although O particularly loved The New Avengers with Gareth Hunt! ❤️❤️❤️
RIP Beautiful Tommy❤❤❤❤ Thank you for the lovely tribute! Emily W from Missouri, US😍😍😍
❤️🥰❤️
Thank you again! and I appreciate you watching! xxx
Brilliant, brilliant ❤
Thank you so much Mags! xxxxx
People even today still impersonate him, "Just like that, not like this, like that" 😂
His stage baffoonery, height, large feet, and constant smile made him what he was.
A comedy legend indeed....sadly missed...😥
One joke I remember him telling on his TV show was....
"I cleaned the attic out the other day with the wife, dirty, filthy, covered in cobwebs......but she's good to the kids" 😂
"Spoon Jar, Jar spoon" 🤣
Tommy Cooper what can I say just like that walking on stage he had you in fits of laughter he basically didn't after do anything loved him throughout my childhood and adult life.
He was a true legend! A great natural entertainer ❤️❤️❤️
Tommy was a very amazing comical magician. My whole family have very fond memories of him and his tricks. When one of my brothers got married he and his wife had a very quiet reception until I presented them both with fez’s and our father did the bottle, glass, bottle trick. Only my family and my brother got it!
Oh my goodness I love this ❤️🤣 thank you so much for sharing this memory 🤭❤️🪄🪄🪄
Tommy was a comedy lequend. Saw him live when I was a Kid. My Late Father loved Tommy Cooper.
Oh wow!!!! I would have absolutely adored to have seen him on stage - my family all loved him - he was just amazing ❤️
Great comedian and again a top class video ,thank you xx
My pleasure - thank you so much for watching xxx
YET ANOTHER GREAT STORY THANKYOU WELL EXPLAINED LOVED IT 👍🤣
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so very much for watching the video xx it's very appreciated! x
He was my late grandfather’s fav comedian
He was a big favourite in our family too xx
Tommy was a national treasury.
He gave so much and provided great medicine to us all, LAUGHTER.
I completely agree ❤️
Brilliant video thank you xx
You're so welcome! Thank you for your lovely comment! xxxx
Thanks , greetings from Australia, you've done it again. Great job.
Thank you so much!!! xx ☺♥
Brilliant video, brilliant presenter, brilliant Tommy Cooper❤️
Thank you so much Sally! I really appreciate your comment ❤️🥰❤️
Another lovely film sensitively made. Thank you for leaving the beautiful flowers for the Coopers 19:58
Beautiful tribute . Thank you for sharing x
I love Tommy to this day .
My pleasure - thank you for watching ❤️ I’m the same - he was wonderful! Xx
You are making me cry now.😢 this is my youth.
It really takes me back too! So many memories - and it was so funny watching Tommy Cooper on television knowing he actually lived within walking distance off my house when I was about 10 years old! Xx
I just have to hear the name Tommy Cooper and I chuckle
I know what you mean!!! xx
I was once a full time musician .I had a gig in a golf club in berks,I believe. 7 days after Tommy passed away, his brother Dave walked in.Good grief....spitting image.I was covered in goosebumps!!
I can imagine that must have been quite a shock! Their mothers genes were strong - Tommy was the image of her! Thank you for sharing this memory ❤️
Thanks for your excellent videos..
Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for watching! ❤️
Thank youfor sharing.
My pleasure! Thank you so much for watching xxx
Another lovely video thank you 👏👏

Excellent well researched video. After all these years we still miss Tommy.
Thank you so much and thank you for watching! Yes indeed - Tommy was so well loved and much missed ❤️
Thank you so much. He was such a legend 💖🪄
My pleasure - thank you for watching! And I totally agree with you - a legend and an icon! ❤️❤️❤️
Yes. A very funny man. Loved it when he messed the tricks up and then came out with a great one. Nicely presented again. Thanks.
Thank you so much! And thank you for watching ❤️❤️❤️ Yes that was brilliant - he was hilarious - and a very skilled magician! 🪄❤️
Wow what a comedy legend. I remember laughing at his performances as a child..... Thanks Shar for another brilliant video. ❤️
He was!!! Totally amazing - thank you so much for watching - I’m so pleased you enjoyed the video ❤️❤️❤️
What a thoughtful and moving presentation whoever you are. I have been watching more and more ever since your presentation of my fantasy love, Mary Millington. Well done

Love Toomy, another great upload. I shall subscribr
Thank you so much! And thank you for watching and subscribing - much appreciated ❤️
what a superb video and a truely great tribute you gave him . very often Tommy would turn up at his brothers magic shop in slough berks to spend time with him.
Oh I didn’t know that! Thank you so much for that information! ❤️ and thank you for your lovely comment too ❤️🌹
As always a great presentation and wonderful series of photos of Tommy cooper
I always look forward to your presentations
Thank you so much for your lovely comment!!! It’s truly appreciated ❤️❤️❤️
great video what a brilliant entertainer, another great british comedian, one off the funniest comedians ever,
I didn't know he was Welsh, his messing up of magic tricks is legendary
Everything about him was just so funny in such a lovely way - he really did have charisma that was very visible on stage! Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for watching the video! ❤️❤️❤️
Your videos have lots of tragedy, but they also lift me up as i think of these great people you make the films about.
Thank you
I know what you mean - I think some of you’re so welcome!
Thanks for the upload
Very interesting and i can see a lot of work went into it.
Tommy Cooper had a unique act and was loved by audiences everywhere
Thank you so much! I was really nervous about this one because I love Tommy so much - I’ve been wanting to do this one for ages but it was difficult but I can’t tell his jokes - only Tommy could do that! And I hated the biopic they did on him - it was so untrue and unfair - but he did so much during his life I just didn’t know where to start and there was so much I just couldn’t get in! Thank you so much for watching xx
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 loved this, loved tommy, one is of that age growing up he was everywhere, thank you for your stellar work, cheers from new🥝🥝🥝zealand 🍺🍺🍻🍻
That’s so lovely! Thank you so much for your comment -I went to school in Chiswick but sadly never got to see Tommy in real life! ❤️❤️❤️
That’s very kind of you - thank you 😊
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre you are most welcome in this case .
Oh my goodness!!! I'd have loved to have seen him - I lived in Grantham Rd by Chiswick House - very happy days! xx
You can always rely on your lovely step back in time clips to cheer you up when it's been a long day 😎❤❤❤
Excellent, Really enjoyed this as I enjoy all of your videos, Thank you

Thank you so much and thank you for watching!
Great stuff, enjoyed that. Nice to hear your beautiful voice again! 😁

Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
There are thousands of magicians around the world and no doubt many are very talented and entertaining but their acts are just variations on a theme.
Now that’s magic 🤣 it was so special ❤️
Please let me know if you get to the cemetery to see Tommy’s grave/memorial - I’m sorry to hear about your father-in-law, dementia is so cruel and extremely upsetting and stressful for loved ones xx
Very interesting my father was from EXETER (Devon) and I have quit a few relations down there.im in Tiverton myself just up the road fm there.Im now 62 myself..steve c
Beautiful part of the world! xx
Such a humble grave
Enjoying your blogs they well Researched. 😊 his collapse on stage footage is on daily motion site his niece also died 24 December 2022.
Thank you so much - yes his niece died under tragic circumstances - so sad x
Tommy it seems enjoyed a glass of adult beverage, especially when provided by others. Evidently his first job which paid 2 1/2 pence an hour had a lasting impression on him. A wonderful funny engaging man, who gave us so much joy during a time of greater innocence.
Really good video ❤️
Thank you so much! ❤️
Thank you once again. A wonderful bio. God bless you and tommy.😊
The pleasure is all mine! Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for watching! It’s very appreciated xx
Youre in my local cemetery 🪦.....i remember Tommy's house in Motcombe Road, he was always arguing with his wife at the Lamb 🐑 Inn 😂
Oh really??? That's brilliant - I can imagine that too!!!! XXX
Yes I totally agree with you!!! Tommy Cooper is a Legend and an icon of British comedy! Thank you so much for your comment and for watching! ❤️❤️❤️

Hello Shar🙋♀️ “Just Like That” you made a fascinating video 📹 I did not realise he had a Welsh 🏴 background. I love zany humour, and Tommy Cooper was hilarious 😂 I hope you had a chance for a bit of sightseeing. Eastbourne is a lovely seaside town. I would often visit the place during the Summer. 💐BIG HUGS for your Boys 🐶🐶🐶
